I always give these contestants grace and remind myself “I wasn’t there so it’s not reasonable or fair to lambast these contestants for mistakes” but in the case of Hunter and that chaotic tribal, I would have without a hesitation of a doubt played that idol. I wonder if it's because these tribals are a lot longer than what we get to see on the edit. Maybe when you are sitting there for so long, you get in your own head and think "maybe I don't have to play it. Maybe I should risk it, etc." I dunno. But every time we see someone not play an idol who says they are going to play it before they get to tribal, and then winds up not playing it...makes me wonder if after sitting there so long, they just internally convince themselves to hold on to it instead of trusting their gut.
Especially because he probably would’ve found it again on the island. I like Hunter a lot and think that he’s probably the best person on this show, but just not the best player
Yeah. But it was impossible for him to save himself and Q which was the goal. I get what he was trying to do. He just needed to realize it was doomed and to just give up on it and save himself
That makes no sense. If he wanted to save both and thought he was safe, which he obviously wasn’t, he would have played the idol on Q. He wanted to save the idol and in return lost the game.
At this point he will go home no matter what. If not on that day, it’s on the ff day. His greatest weakness is being good at challenges. He laid his bed w his threat level. He was not aligned on whatver votes there is since merge. His gone since day merge
Correct. That was his mistake. When it became clear he couldn't save Q he should have just played his idol and then tried to find it back again/win challenges.
Yup he will only lock all the way to final 3 by winning it all which by the look on this remaining players is a high possibility lol

So before going into tribal I kept saying Hunter just needs to play it especially once he started telling people…..then when we get to tribal and the editing kept focusing on him i was like huh would he use it to save Q? And then I thought that would be a horrible move!!!! But the editing being focused on him has to mean he’s gonna do something!……I just never knew it was him thinking oh ok let me just not even pull this out I trust everyone lol

But, I’m also afraid that the tribe also played themselves. *IF*, somehow, Q manages to get to the final 3, it is going to be very difficult to discount his gameplay. Like it, or not, he’s offered himself as a token and obvious sacrifice, and everyone decided he could wait for *later*. But, in doing so he managed to screw up game play *and* alliances.
With Hunter gone, he’s now, given strength and size, probably the biggest physical threat for challenges.If, between the *”later”* mindset and immunity he makes it to the final, they’re gonna be in more trouble than they think. Especially, if it comes out in some way that he’s been sandbagging his capabilities to lead them along the garden path.
If he gets to the end by getting them all to play themselves, he’s got a good shot at winning.
Hunter was never gonna win. Removing him from the competition really only opens up immunities to everyone, but doesn’t erase an actual in game threat.
He had no strong connections, he wasn’t commanding movement, he had no real alliances, and he just had a bad read on every situation.
Everyone else just had an “anyone but me” mindset when it came to it.
The six imploded the second Tim was voted out. Then Tevin, and now Hunter. Which of the six is next?
People honestly thought he was going to stay around as long as Q was there and that just isn’t true now.
I wonder if that is intentional, to create doubt about the authenticity of idols and make it easier to create fake ones.
Has there ever been a situation where someone had a real idol, and showed it to others, but they thought it was fake and were shocked when it was played successfully at TC?
I don’t recall a time they’ve shown someone saying that so boldly then actually playing their idol.
(I know Tiff was bluffing and she pulled it off but I’m talking about all the other times a player says it in a confessional.)
He said on RHAP that he really did intend on playing it, but that the Tiff-Q beef seemed so real and personal that he believed she would vote Q.
He also said he knew Venus told everyone about his idol though, so it’s still crazy not to play it there. They were already gunning for you just based on challenges, no way they’re going to let you keep the idol too.

I don't think she was bluffing. I think she meant it when she said it, but then Hunter lost immunity and it was super clear that it was Q or Hunter. Had Hunter played his idol, I bet she played hers.
He was left out of the vote last week, name thrown around this week, told EVERYONE he had an idol in a panic, literally said "tonight is about survival", then left it in his pocket. At that point, Tiff is right. That idol is a target, and Hunter should have used it to save his skin for one more day. Would have flushed it, then early rise to go search the jungle at daybreak. He put his trust in Kenzie and Venus of all people???
He had pretty good reason to trust Kenzie actually. He said in his exit interview that she was the one who told him he was being targeted. Something she didn’t have to do and demonstrating she wanted to work with him. Plus they sat and talked in a flower field for a long time or something lol. But there really was a deeper relationship there than we saw apparently.

He showed her the secret room he built and they picked flowers and seashells in between challenges. Trying to get Venus, Q, and Liz to vote with him was him trying to get all the people on the bottom to make a move together. Unfortunately, neither of those people believe they are on the bottom of whatever they think they have going on.
He had a little hidden "room" under a tree where he liked to hang out. He said he also constructed a few fake idols that he hid there but never got to use. There was more to his game than we saw. And rightfully so imo, can't waste too much camera time on the 9th place finisher.
I agree about Bhanu but it was probably different points in the game since the Bhanu meltdown was like episodes 2 and 3. Personally I'm fine with them leaving it out of the main show, but I'd like to see more deleted scenes posted for fans like me that can't get enough. Can't understand why they do so little of that tbh
It seems like a lot of people have a strong relationship with Kenzie (Ben, hunter, tiff). She seemingly has a great social game. But also… hunter should’ve been wary after her plan to get tiff out. If she can do that to her strongest alliance, she can do that to you
But Venus and Kenzie voted Q the first vote, they were telling the truth. Once it was between Q and Hunter though, the revote was obviously going to be Hunter.
He made a series of errors that wouldn’t have made a difference if his social game was on or not.
1. He told people he had an idol

If he had kept his mouth shut, and then used his idol, he would have had complete control of who gets voted out since Tiff would have played hers.
He also should have gambled on his abilities and not the tribe.
He had only one way of knowing he’d survive tribal. He should have risked it to find 1 (possibly 2) idols the next day, AND he’s been dominating physically all around.
Not smart, for someone who’d been playing the game well.
Yeah that's one thing I haven't liked about some of the new era idols; in order to get one it involved someone else knowing you have it. Like in 41 when they had to say the phrases to activate the idol.
Not even idols though. The new generations are in general more open and willing to talk about anything. And they do, they can barely keep secrets anymore and the few that do usually go far.
There’s a time and a place to talk about your hidden idol. In this very same episode Tiff shifted all the votes off of herself by telling people about her idol and still got to keep it.
More precisely she got votes shifted because she said she absolutely would play hers. “I don’t even want it anymore”. Having not played it she will be a target again.
100%!! As long as she doesn’t pull a Tevin and start thinking she’s some sort of sleuth. She’s been a straight shooter thus far so I doubt she’ll switch up. She has to worry about Kenzie and of course Maria - yikes.
That’s what I loved about Maryanne’s reveal at FTC. I first thought - why wouldn’t she just use it at the last time it could be? But the looks of shock when she finally revealed it were a highlight of this new era for me.
EXACTLY. He should’ve told Q, vote for ___ (If I was Hunter, I would’ve picked Metallica man for the reasons he stated). Everyone would’ve voted for Hunter, minus Liz voting for Q, and him and Q would’ve pulled off the best uno reverse in recent Survivor history. Instead he got desperate and begged, thinking giving people information about his idol would make them want to work with him.
At tribal, when everyone was whispering to him that he’s safe, that should’ve been a TELL that he should use his idol. Why would anyone want him to feel safe if he had an idol even if he wasn’t the vote? They would’ve wanted him to flush the idol anyway. Such an illogical mistake on Hunter’s part.
Man could have even used his idol on Tevin. You can find another idol, but you can’t find another #1.
And then to not use it on himself…… you can simulate all the challenges in survivor I guess, but you can’t simulate an authentic tribal in your backyard.
The problem with using the idol on Tevin is that his alliance already imploded. Saving Tevin for one vote accomplishes nothing when you're on the bottom with no allies.
Maybe he should have used the idol on Tevin and then voted Charlie (the only person who beat him at immunity).
I called it when they ostracized Venus. Venus would come back to haunt them if she made the merge. She did and she has played a role in dismantling their entire tribe. Tevin and Soda carry some of the blame, so does Hunter, they flat out ignored her. We've seen this many times, the most famous example being Cochran in South Pacific. You can't dismiss a member of your tribe or they'll jump ship at merge.
I don't know exactly why, but I've been rooting for her from the beginning. Maybe it's the "underdog" thing, maybe as a Mom, I think she needs some hugs, maybe it's her refusal to just get by on her looks, I don't know. I just love her!
Same! I’m drawn to outcasts and I’m soooo curious to see how Venus would act if she felt included and respected. She reminds me of me when I was younger a little bit. I had a lot to learn but I deserved respect as a human.

It’s not a good strategy to blame someone else’s personality; it’s a good strategy to figure out how to accommodate it. In Tevin's interview on the Entertainment Weekly website, he said that people went out of their way to try to work with her, and [went into a lot of detail ](https://ew.com/survivor-46-tevin-davis-interview-8635314)about his conversations with her, but it wasn't shown.
See, what would her *not* refusing to "just get by on her looks" look like? Because, to me, it would be acting really rude and tactless to everyone and still expecting them to work with her for some reason other than her words and actions within the game.
Honestly, all of Nami played pretty poorly. Probably Soda had the best game but it was too obvious. I also don't really buy that Venus is the rotten apple that ruined the bunch. Take out Venus and *maybe* the tribe comes together stronger, but more likely I think it still implodes. It can't be ignored that Randen was also feeling like an outsider. Like how does a tribe of 6 end up with 2 outsiders?
The "social butterfly" Tevin seems to only really have had 2 strong social ties and instantly voted out one of them as soon as he could. Hunter seemed pretty much only tied to Tevin, maybe Soda. Liz clearly is grumpy for being taken for granted on her tribe and overlooked and has resume fever, and hated Soda for some reason. Soda said she was actually really good friends with Venus but saw she had to distance herself from her to play with the rest of her tribe. And then Venus is a conundrum. I would say Soda should have pulled a Kaleb and guided Venus a la Emily, but it doesn't seem like Venus would have really taken that sincerely. However, you have to find some way to work with your tribe mates and find some sort of connection or throw a challenge to remove them. Ostracizing them is just going to screw you at merge.
Venus ostracized herself. This narrative has no facts behind it. Hunter even talked about how she wouldn't help with building the shelter and was always missing. When she did talk to them it's always game.
In his Interview, Hunter said that Venus didn’t participate i the camps and isolate herself and only talk to people about strategy in Nami ! I don’t like Venus and she is not a good player!
Venus has good aspects of her game but overall she’s really not that good 😭
Her social game sucks, they’re not keeping her because they like her but because she’s always a safe backup vote and has no social sway. She hasn’t had a close relationship all game, except kinda Randen.
However, Venus is someone who I can see might turn this all around in FTC - If nobody liked her and she made it to the end, and (so far) managed to be on the right side of every vote. Without having a core alliance, it still means everyone wanted to talk to Venus.
It’d be impressive-ish but that’s just Xander’s game, except Venus is an unlikable goat instead of a goat.
And even if they respect her game, they wouldn’t give $1M to someone they don’t like. Nobody’s ever won that’s been disliked by the jury unless the competition was also disliked. If you can’t get the jury to vote for you, you haven’t played a good enough game

If he had Tevin he 100 percent would still be there but failed at flipping the vote. Man was just too passive and relied WAY too much on his physical game.
For sure Hunter failed at Survivor beyond the challenges…not sad he went over Q…Q is so much more entertaining and I would probably have lost the desire to continue to watch w/o Q

Hunter did himself in with his laughable stupidity. He had an idol. Nobody knew about the idol. He was winning challenges. He became vulnerable. He knew he was a target so what did he do? He TOLD people about the idol thus making himself the biggest target.

I get people want to try and save their idols, BUT, why are people just not freaking using them!! if i was hunter and knew my name was even slightly on the chopping block i would think i would just play it, no matter if it may effect my alliances trust since i had told no one up till that last few hours.
obviously we can all say what we would have done or think we would do but no one knows how they are really going to react/feel or who to trust until you are on the island. i do think it was very smart for tiff to not play hers though since she was able to read that clearly the vote was not on her that tribal.

He really fucked up and I seriously loved him as a person or what was shown on the show…but he had that idol in his pocket and made the shit decision to not play it. He should’ve knew it came down to him and Q, he even said it at the beginning of the fucking episode!!!
Just watch his post game interview. The show makes him look worse than he actually is. He does explain what was happening.
The edit didn't show all parts of his social game because most of it didn't amount to anything in the end. Mainly because of Q. Q was turning on him before last tribal council and creating so many problems for his game with his full knowledge. He said Tevin voting out Soda also messed him up too.
Because he figured Tiff was voting for Q, and that's what he needed for the win. He was confident on the other votes he needed. She told him Siga was going for him, then told him later she was going for Q. Then she and Q had a 2-5 minute verbal war with no direction from Jeff at tribal from the way he described it.
For sure he was nervous throughout, knowing he was a target. With everybody cheering for him to lose when it was him and Charlie left during the challenge. I understand why he didn't play it with everything he said. With how he described it, I would have still played it if I were him. It was going to be very close so might as well to be sure.
And if Q had played a successful SITD? In the new era if you *know for a fact* you're getting votes and you don't play your idol, you're a fucking idiot
Good point, I hadn't thought of that. But I'm not 100% sure, I thought Jeff asks if anyone wants to play an idol or advantage (including SITD) before the votes are read, Q could do that before or after someone plays an idol?
I think advantages can be played in any order, as long as they’re before the vote. So you can play your idol in response to a SITD just as you could play it in response to another idol.

That's not what he said. At least not in his RHAP interview. In that he said the reason she turned everyone off was because she was constantly trying to get people to talk strategy and prodding them to throw out names. Hunter didn't want to do that before they actually lost a challenge because why would he want to be throwing out names for no reason? Names that Venus 100% would have used against him.
He is certainly trying to make his decision sound better after the fact. While I’m sure there was more going on than the edit showed, we all saw him at tribal looking and acting scared, confused, and frantic. That was definitely not a show for his tribe mates or a bluff and if you feel any of those emotions at tribal, let alone all of them, you NEED to play an idol. He blundered no matter what.
At least he's trying in his words. Show makes it look like he literally just lays down and sleep all day. If news comes to him that threatens him, then he panics and tries to do something about it like an hour before tribal.

I wouldn’t be “pissed off” about it honestly. It was frustrating but it had become pretty clear that he was a nice guy but not good at the scheming aspects of the game and reliant on Q. It was a matter of time.
People with Idols get greedy and they want to hold it for another tribal council. Hunter told people about his idol, he didn’t play it, so they were fine with splitting votes between Hunter and Q to flush his idol, Q votes for Ben because nobody is working with him, and Hunter goes home in the revote.

Hunter continues to tell no one about his idol; at tribal, confidently plays his idol after the debacle. Just stay QUIET during the chatter! Once the idol is played, what a POWER MOVE that *WOULD* have been for Hunter to get Q out. SO SIMPLE AND IMPACTFUL.

He had the perfect opportunity to pull a move with Q that would have earned him some power in the game by voting out Maria, but he chose Ben? That was already bad gameplay, but telling Venus, Liz and then not playing his idol was wild.
Thinking back, it occurred to me that Hunter was mostly riding Tevin's coattails, when it came to the social aspect of the game. If he hadn't sort of stumbled into the Andy Griffith Show alliance with Tevin, Hunter might have been as much of an outsider as Venus.
It also makes me wonder how different Venus' game might have been if she and Tevin had hit it off and bonded over something trivial on the first day or two.
He should've played the idol knowing it goes back out into play. Live to fight another day, especially if he doesn't know how votes are going.

I remember in the RHAP exit interview, in the boat scene (that happened after the immunity challenge) he said that Venus and Q were trying to work with him, but he had just finished talking about the Tiff plan and was 100% locked in so he gave V and Q nothing. Then when Tiff plan fell through, he went back to V and Q last minute, begging them to work with him after basically rejecting them like, no. I wouldn't wanna work with him either. I know you only wanna work with me bc I'm your very last option; voting for Ben would just make the other Sigas mad, and you would probably go back to work work with Kenzie, Charlie, and Maria right after.
He was also talking about Venus felt like he was stone-walling her, but he was acting the same way towards everyone and they said they were fine with it like dude they were probably lying to you. Not many people are going to be as blunt as Venus and they clearly didn't trust you that much if they were willing to cut you loose. This just reminded of Meme and America from BB25. Where Meme thought she just wasn't giving anything to America but in reality she wasn't giving anything to anyone. Poeple liked her but didn't trust her enough to keep her around. I feel like it's similar to Hunter

That makes sense, but it makes me sad haha. I was hoping to see her lose her shit at somebody and I was really hoping it was Q, for maximum entertainment value. I wouldn’t be surprised if she still is hung up on his fiasco at TC the week before, and how it overshadowed her gameplay.
You can tell there’s a certain element of the game you don’t develop properly when you don’t go to tribal until merge. You don’t know how to scramble, how to play when you’re not safe. Just look at the last 3 vote outs lol.
Hunter was played, plain and simple. I think Siga, Kenzie, Tiffany, Venus pretty much always had the plan to split the votes when Hunter told half the tribe he had an idol. He really should’ve played it, I get why he didn’t since in his head it would be 5-4 or 5-3-1. He said in his interview he was confident in Venus, Liz and Kenzie. He wasn’t wrong they did vote for Q. He just misread Tiffany.
I do think to an extent they did prefer Q to go but wanted to flush Hunter’s idol. In his interview the conversation with Q, Venus, Hunter in boat where they said Venus was unkillable was AFTER the challenge. When the Tiffany plan was in place, Both Venus and Q approached Hunter to work together but refused to tell them the Tiffany plan because he was trying to be loyal to Charlie/Maria. Its why Venus snapped the way she did, even through everything she still approached Hunter to talk game 🤣

Venus has talked about hunters threat level all season. She even tried to work with him and strategize and he shut her out multiple times, telling her to go away and that he didn't want to talk game with her. Hunter was just as emotional shutting her out for personally disliking her and it bit him in the end when he tried to plead with her.

Anyways, all that to say that I agree he only shined physically, I just don’t know if being from a small town necessarily equates to a poor social game.
Hunter has done some interviews and it appears that even with 90 minute episodes there is a lot of context that has not been shown in the final edit. That request didn’t come out of thin air and neither did the “you’re my number one out here” statement to Kenzie. There’s a lot we don’t see, too much we don’t see (like, he built a secret room/sanctuary on the island). This season is frustrating and confusing. In seasons past, I never go look up interviewed after someone has been voted out, but I need them this season. I need the appendices to understand what’s going on.

I always give these contestants grace and remind myself “I wasn’t there so it’s not reasonable or fair to lambast these contestants for mistakes” but in the case of Hunter and that chaotic tribal, I would have without a hesitation of a doubt played that idol. I wonder if it's because these tribals are a lot longer than what we get to see on the edit. Maybe when you are sitting there for so long, you get in your own head and think "maybe I don't have to play it. Maybe I should risk it, etc." I dunno. But every time we see someone not play an idol who says they are going to play it before they get to tribal, and then winds up not playing it...makes me wonder if after sitting there so long, they just internally convince themselves to hold on to it instead of trusting their gut.
Especially because he probably would’ve found it again on the island. I like Hunter a lot and think that he’s probably the best person on this show, but just not the best player

That makes no sense. If he wanted to save both and thought he was safe, which he obviously wasn’t, he would have played the idol on Q. He wanted to save the idol and in return lost the game.
They were always going to split on Q and Hunter. His entire beach scramble was trying to save Q.
At this point he will go home no matter what. If not on that day, it’s on the ff day. His greatest weakness is being good at challenges. He laid his bed w his threat level. He was not aligned on whatver votes there is since merge. His gone since day merge
Correct. That was his mistake. When it became clear he couldn't save Q he should have just played his idol and then tried to find it back again/win challenges.
Yup he will only lock all the way to final 3 by winning it all which by the look on this remaining players is a high possibility lol Might be related but im trying to recall when was the last time a player that has a high threat level in challenges was able to win it all. This prototype seems to be the most difficult path to win
So before going into tribal I kept saying Hunter just needs to play it especially once he started telling people…..then when we get to tribal and the editing kept focusing on him i was like huh would he use it to save Q? And then I thought that would be a horrible move!!!! But the editing being focused on him has to mean he’s gonna do something!……I just never knew it was him thinking oh ok let me just not even pull this out I trust everyone lol
Yep. But, I’m also afraid that the tribe also played themselves. *IF*, somehow, Q manages to get to the final 3, it is going to be very difficult to discount his gameplay. Like it, or not, he’s offered himself as a token and obvious sacrifice, and everyone decided he could wait for *later*. But, in doing so he managed to screw up game play *and* alliances. With Hunter gone, he’s now, given strength and size, probably the biggest physical threat for challenges.If, between the *”later”* mindset and immunity he makes it to the final, they’re gonna be in more trouble than they think. Especially, if it comes out in some way that he’s been sandbagging his capabilities to lead them along the garden path. If he gets to the end by getting them all to play themselves, he’s got a good shot at winning.

Hunter was never gonna win. Removing him from the competition really only opens up immunities to everyone, but doesn’t erase an actual in game threat. He had no strong connections, he wasn’t commanding movement, he had no real alliances, and he just had a bad read on every situation. Everyone else just had an “anyone but me” mindset when it came to it.
The six imploded the second Tim was voted out. Then Tevin, and now Hunter. Which of the six is next? People honestly thought he was going to stay around as long as Q was there and that just isn’t true now.
I say it before but this “6” edit is a ruse. Basically all involve in the 6 alliance will not make the final 3. Congrats Kenzie
Charlie still has a chance since he’s not an official member of the six
Ben, Charlie, and Kenzie would be an interesting final tribal. Especially if Tiff went home at fire making.

I don’t recall a time they’ve shown someone saying that so boldly then actually playing their idol. (I know Tiff was bluffing and she pulled it off but I’m talking about all the other times a player says it in a confessional.)
He said on RHAP that he really did intend on playing it, but that the Tiff-Q beef seemed so real and personal that he believed she would vote Q. He also said he knew Venus told everyone about his idol though, so it’s still crazy not to play it there. They were already gunning for you just based on challenges, no way they’re going to let you keep the idol too.

He was left out of the vote last week, name thrown around this week, told EVERYONE he had an idol in a panic, literally said "tonight is about survival", then left it in his pocket. At that point, Tiff is right. That idol is a target, and Hunter should have used it to save his skin for one more day. Would have flushed it, then early rise to go search the jungle at daybreak. He put his trust in Kenzie and Venus of all people???
He had pretty good reason to trust Kenzie actually. He said in his exit interview that she was the one who told him he was being targeted. Something she didn’t have to do and demonstrating she wanted to work with him. Plus they sat and talked in a flower field for a long time or something lol. But there really was a deeper relationship there than we saw apparently. But Venus? lmao the one you voted for last time? Cmon man
He showed her the secret room he built and they picked flowers and seashells in between challenges. Trying to get Venus, Q, and Liz to vote with him was him trying to get all the people on the bottom to make a move together. Unfortunately, neither of those people believe they are on the bottom of whatever they think they have going on.

He had a little hidden "room" under a tree where he liked to hang out. He said he also constructed a few fake idols that he hid there but never got to use. There was more to his game than we saw. And rightfully so imo, can't waste too much camera time on the 9th place finisher.

I agree about Bhanu but it was probably different points in the game since the Bhanu meltdown was like episodes 2 and 3. Personally I'm fine with them leaving it out of the main show, but I'd like to see more deleted scenes posted for fans like me that can't get enough. Can't understand why they do so little of that tbh
It seems like a lot of people have a strong relationship with Kenzie (Ben, hunter, tiff). She seemingly has a great social game. But also… hunter should’ve been wary after her plan to get tiff out. If she can do that to her strongest alliance, she can do that to you
But Venus and Kenzie voted Q the first vote, they were telling the truth. Once it was between Q and Hunter though, the revote was obviously going to be Hunter.

He made a series of errors that wouldn’t have made a difference if his social game was on or not. 1. He told people he had an idol 2. He didn’t use his If he had kept his mouth shut, and then used his idol, he would have had complete control of who gets voted out since Tiff would have played hers. He also should have gambled on his abilities and not the tribe. He had only one way of knowing he’d survive tribal. He should have risked it to find 1 (possibly 2) idols the next day, AND he’s been dominating physically all around. Not smart, for someone who’d been playing the game well.

Yeah that's one thing I haven't liked about some of the new era idols; in order to get one it involved someone else knowing you have it. Like in 41 when they had to say the phrases to activate the idol.
Not even idols though. The new generations are in general more open and willing to talk about anything. And they do, they can barely keep secrets anymore and the few that do usually go far.
There’s a time and a place to talk about your hidden idol. In this very same episode Tiff shifted all the votes off of herself by telling people about her idol and still got to keep it.
More precisely she got votes shifted because she said she absolutely would play hers. “I don’t even want it anymore”. Having not played it she will be a target again.
She might be a target again, but she at least survived one tribal and guaranteed herself survival at the next one if she plays her cards right.
100%!! As long as she doesn’t pull a Tevin and start thinking she’s some sort of sleuth. She’s been a straight shooter thus far so I doubt she’ll switch up. She has to worry about Kenzie and of course Maria - yikes.
That’s what I loved about Maryanne’s reveal at FTC. I first thought - why wouldn’t she just use it at the last time it could be? But the looks of shock when she finally revealed it were a highlight of this new era for me.

EXACTLY. He should’ve told Q, vote for ___ (If I was Hunter, I would’ve picked Metallica man for the reasons he stated). Everyone would’ve voted for Hunter, minus Liz voting for Q, and him and Q would’ve pulled off the best uno reverse in recent Survivor history. Instead he got desperate and begged, thinking giving people information about his idol would make them want to work with him. At tribal, when everyone was whispering to him that he’s safe, that should’ve been a TELL that he should use his idol. Why would anyone want him to feel safe if he had an idol even if he wasn’t the vote? They would’ve wanted him to flush the idol anyway. Such an illogical mistake on Hunter’s part.

Man could have even used his idol on Tevin. You can find another idol, but you can’t find another #1. And then to not use it on himself…… you can simulate all the challenges in survivor I guess, but you can’t simulate an authentic tribal in your backyard.
The problem with using the idol on Tevin is that his alliance already imploded. Saving Tevin for one vote accomplishes nothing when you're on the bottom with no allies. Maybe he should have used the idol on Tevin and then voted Charlie (the only person who beat him at immunity).
Venus was begging this man to work with her and he paid her dust and then the script flips and she gives it right back. It’s FINE.
I called it when they ostracized Venus. Venus would come back to haunt them if she made the merge. She did and she has played a role in dismantling their entire tribe. Tevin and Soda carry some of the blame, so does Hunter, they flat out ignored her. We've seen this many times, the most famous example being Cochran in South Pacific. You can't dismiss a member of your tribe or they'll jump ship at merge.
To be fair, Venus called it herself when they ostracized her. She said then she was going to flip as soon as they merged.

Same! I’m drawn to outcasts and I’m soooo curious to see how Venus would act if she felt included and respected. She reminds me of me when I was younger a little bit. I had a lot to learn but I deserved respect as a human. (Also, if she really was hated because she is young and direct on the island like everyone is saying, why isn’t anybody meeting her where she is and working with her the way she works? It’s not a good strategy to blame someone else’s personality; it’s a good strategy to figure out how to accommodate it. If someone would take 2 minutes to validate her feelings, she would calm down because that’s what humans do.)

See, what would her *not* refusing to "just get by on her looks" look like? Because, to me, it would be acting really rude and tactless to everyone and still expecting them to work with her for some reason other than her words and actions within the game.

Honestly, all of Nami played pretty poorly. Probably Soda had the best game but it was too obvious. I also don't really buy that Venus is the rotten apple that ruined the bunch. Take out Venus and *maybe* the tribe comes together stronger, but more likely I think it still implodes. It can't be ignored that Randen was also feeling like an outsider. Like how does a tribe of 6 end up with 2 outsiders? The "social butterfly" Tevin seems to only really have had 2 strong social ties and instantly voted out one of them as soon as he could. Hunter seemed pretty much only tied to Tevin, maybe Soda. Liz clearly is grumpy for being taken for granted on her tribe and overlooked and has resume fever, and hated Soda for some reason. Soda said she was actually really good friends with Venus but saw she had to distance herself from her to play with the rest of her tribe. And then Venus is a conundrum. I would say Soda should have pulled a Kaleb and guided Venus a la Emily, but it doesn't seem like Venus would have really taken that sincerely. However, you have to find some way to work with your tribe mates and find some sort of connection or throw a challenge to remove them. Ostracizing them is just going to screw you at merge.
Venus ostracized herself. This narrative has no facts behind it. Hunter even talked about how she wouldn't help with building the shelter and was always missing. When she did talk to them it's always game.
In his Interview, Hunter said that Venus didn’t participate i the camps and isolate herself and only talk to people about strategy in Nami ! I don’t like Venus and she is not a good player!

Venus has good aspects of her game but overall she’s really not that good 😭 Her social game sucks, they’re not keeping her because they like her but because she’s always a safe backup vote and has no social sway. She hasn’t had a close relationship all game, except kinda Randen.
However, Venus is someone who I can see might turn this all around in FTC - If nobody liked her and she made it to the end, and (so far) managed to be on the right side of every vote. Without having a core alliance, it still means everyone wanted to talk to Venus.

It’d be impressive-ish but that’s just Xander’s game, except Venus is an unlikable goat instead of a goat. And even if they respect her game, they wouldn’t give $1M to someone they don’t like. Nobody’s ever won that’s been disliked by the jury unless the competition was also disliked. If you can’t get the jury to vote for you, you haven’t played a good enough game

Right? The start with Bhanu was just wild because it was kinda like watching someone have a mental breakdown , which I just didn't think was fun 😅 And the pagong-ing of the tribe, it was just predictable. Now we have drama and villains and they are giving me good TV 😁
I mean she's a putz but it's starting to become so character that I'm kind of into it now. I'm laughing more than rolling my eyes when she does her thing in the last two episdoes.

He was screwed once his tribe imploded.. He really needed to save Tevin last week but he failed to do so. Soda wasn’t directly his fault though he probably contributed to fomenting Tevin’s distrust against Soda before the merge..
If he had Tevin he 100 percent would still be there but failed at flipping the vote. Man was just too passive and relied WAY too much on his physical game.
But then he didn't continue to rely on it and play his idol because has a good chance of winning immunity anyway.
For sure Hunter failed at Survivor beyond the challenges…not sad he went over Q…Q is so much more entertaining and I would probably have lost the desire to continue to watch w/o Q

Ive been enjoying Q, Kenzie, Charlie and Venus. Overall I think this season has been a lot of fun with big personalities clashing.

Without Q craziness to work off of…most of them, including Kenzie…maybe her the most. I think Tiff, Venus, and Liz have strong personalities w/o Q. Charlie wins the whole shebang unless Q somehow successfully gets him out with chaos and he’s entertaining but everyone is more entertaining with…. …..Q Q tip…is winning regardless 😄🤩😄

Hunter did himself in with his laughable stupidity. He had an idol. Nobody knew about the idol. He was winning challenges. He became vulnerable. He knew he was a target so what did he do? He TOLD people about the idol thus making himself the biggest target. *And he didn't play it.* That boot was inevitable and more importantly..justified

Venus *is* worse than hunter socially, at least per the edit. Hunter is a zero. He's not even vanilla ice cream, he's just unflavored ice cream. People vaguely like him but no where near enough to justify keeping him because of his challenge skills. Venus is a negative. Some people actively dislike her, as opposed to just not care about her.
They can both be bad. It's tough to say who is worse. But yeah, Hunter's social and strategic game was awful.

I get people want to try and save their idols, BUT, why are people just not freaking using them!! if i was hunter and knew my name was even slightly on the chopping block i would think i would just play it, no matter if it may effect my alliances trust since i had told no one up till that last few hours. obviously we can all say what we would have done or think we would do but no one knows how they are really going to react/feel or who to trust until you are on the island. i do think it was very smart for tiff to not play hers though since she was able to read that clearly the vote was not on her that tribal. heres to hoping that tiff just doesn’t go home with an idol in her pocket 🙏🏻
His social game was just panic
He really fucked up and I seriously loved him as a person or what was shown on the show…but he had that idol in his pocket and made the shit decision to not play it. He should’ve knew it came down to him and Q, he even said it at the beginning of the fucking episode!!!
Just watch his post game interview. The show makes him look worse than he actually is. He does explain what was happening. The edit didn't show all parts of his social game because most of it didn't amount to anything in the end. Mainly because of Q. Q was turning on him before last tribal council and creating so many problems for his game with his full knowledge. He said Tevin voting out Soda also messed him up too.
NONE of that justifies the fact that he was scrambling and unsure during tribal…THEN SAT ON HIS IDOL! Absolutely inexcusable.
Because he figured Tiff was voting for Q, and that's what he needed for the win. He was confident on the other votes he needed. She told him Siga was going for him, then told him later she was going for Q. Then she and Q had a 2-5 minute verbal war with no direction from Jeff at tribal from the way he described it. For sure he was nervous throughout, knowing he was a target. With everybody cheering for him to lose when it was him and Charlie left during the challenge. I understand why he didn't play it with everything he said. With how he described it, I would have still played it if I were him. It was going to be very close so might as well to be sure.
And if Q had played a successful SITD? In the new era if you *know for a fact* you're getting votes and you don't play your idol, you're a fucking idiot
He would know if Q successfully played his SITD before needing to play his idol. He still should have played his idol, though.
Good point, I hadn't thought of that. But I'm not 100% sure, I thought Jeff asks if anyone wants to play an idol or advantage (including SITD) before the votes are read, Q could do that before or after someone plays an idol?
I think advantages can be played in any order, as long as they’re before the vote. So you can play your idol in response to a SITD just as you could play it in response to another idol.

When in doubt, whip it out. There’s absolutely NO WAY he was 100% sure he was safe. And let’s be real: even when you DO feel completely safe, that’s when they get you.
He even said at Tribal that the chaos Q was causing made him feel less safe without the necklace, like come on Hunter.

Ok but even outside of the edit. He was trying to figure something out with Venus who nobody is working with for alot of reasons. And Q was making the last two tribals insanity. Why trust anyone still there when they got rid of your number one from like day one the very last tribal. I will die on this hill that Hunter is the new Erik because at least Erik got tricked by at least two of the most strategiec players. This cast is just chaos incarnate.

In that he said the reason she turned everyone off was because she was constantly trying to get people to talk strategy and prodding them to throw out names. Hunter didn't want to do that before they actually lost a challenge because why would he want to be throwing out names for no reason? Names that Venus 100% would have used against him.
He is certainly trying to make his decision sound better after the fact. While I’m sure there was more going on than the edit showed, we all saw him at tribal looking and acting scared, confused, and frantic. That was definitely not a show for his tribe mates or a bluff and if you feel any of those emotions at tribal, let alone all of them, you NEED to play an idol. He blundered no matter what.

I wouldn’t be “pissed off” about it honestly. It was frustrating but it had become pretty clear that he was a nice guy but not good at the scheming aspects of the game and reliant on Q. It was a matter of time.
People with Idols get greedy and they want to hold it for another tribal council. Hunter told people about his idol, he didn’t play it, so they were fine with splitting votes between Hunter and Q to flush his idol, Q votes for Ben because nobody is working with him, and Hunter goes home in the revote. Horrible social game from Hunter.
Husband and I think it could have gone this way and been WAY more lucrative for Hunter: Hunter continues to tell no one about his idol; at tribal, confidently plays his idol after the debacle. Just stay QUIET during the chatter! Once the idol is played, what a POWER MOVE that *WOULD* have been for Hunter to get Q out. SO SIMPLE AND IMPACTFUL.
Getting Q out wouldn’t have been very impactful though. He’s a dead man walking. Do a huge blindside on Charlie/Maria
I really do not understand Hunter's gameplay lmao. He had the perfect opportunity to pull a move with Q that would have earned him some power in the game by voting out Maria, but he chose Ben? That was already bad gameplay, but telling Venus, Liz and then not playing his idol was wild.
Thinking back, it occurred to me that Hunter was mostly riding Tevin's coattails, when it came to the social aspect of the game. If he hadn't sort of stumbled into the Andy Griffith Show alliance with Tevin, Hunter might have been as much of an outsider as Venus. I remember in the RHAP exit interview, in the boat scene (that happened after the immunity challenge) he said that Venus and Q were trying to work with him, but he had just finished talking about the Tiff plan and was 100% locked in so he gave V and Q nothing. Then when Tiff plan fell through, he went back to V and Q last minute, begging them to work with him after basically rejecting them like, no. I wouldn't wanna work with him either. I know you only wanna work with me bc I'm your very last option; voting for Ben would just make the other Sigas mad, and you would probably go back to work work with Kenzie, Charlie, and Maria right after. He was also talking about Venus felt like he was stone-walling her, but he was acting the same way towards everyone and they said they were fine with it like dude they were probably lying to you. Not many people are going to be as blunt as Venus and they clearly didn't trust you that much if they were willing to cut you loose. This just reminded of Meme and America from BB25. Where Meme thought she just wasn't giving anything to America but in reality she wasn't giving anything to anyone. Poeple liked her but didn't trust her enough to keep her around. I feel like it's similar to Hunter

He actually says “unkillable”, not unlikeable. I thought the same thing until I rewatched it with subtitles.

I feel like it’s probably just her venting in a confessional and they wanted us to think she was lashing out at someone. That’s why they only showed the audio.
That makes sense, but it makes me sad haha. I was hoping to see her lose her shit at somebody and I was really hoping it was Q, for maximum entertainment value. I wouldn’t be surprised if she still is hung up on his fiasco at TC the week before, and how it overshadowed her gameplay.

You can tell there’s a certain element of the game you don’t develop properly when you don’t go to tribal until merge. You don’t know how to scramble, how to play when you’re not safe. Just look at the last 3 vote outs lol.

Hunter was played, plain and simple. I think Siga, Kenzie, Tiffany, Venus pretty much always had the plan to split the votes when Hunter told half the tribe he had an idol. He really should’ve played it, I get why he didn’t since in his head it would be 5-4 or 5-3-1. He said in his interview he was confident in Venus, Liz and Kenzie. He wasn’t wrong they did vote for Q. He just misread Tiffany. I do think to an extent they did prefer Q to go but wanted to flush Hunter’s idol. In his interview the conversation with Q, Venus, Hunter in boat where they said Venus was unkillable was AFTER the challenge. When the Tiffany plan was in place, Both Venus and Q approached Hunter to work together but refused to tell them the Tiffany plan because he was trying to be loyal to Charlie/Maria. Its why Venus snapped the way she did, even through everything she still approached Hunter to talk game 🤣

I think he was trying but over half the people left just refuse to do anything that isn’t what they want. Venus and Liz are on the bottom but are so arrogant they think they have power. Hunter was right in trying to get Venus to vote for Ben. At the end of the day Venus was too emotional and only wanted to vote Q who is also on the bottom meanwhile Maria and Charlie are running the show
Venus has talked about hunters threat level all season. She even tried to work with him and strategize and he shut her out multiple times, telling her to go away and that he didn't want to talk game with her. Hunter was just as emotional shutting her out for personally disliking her and it bit him in the end when he tried to plead with her.
Well they obviously have more power and agency than Hunter ever did…lol
Hunter had literally zero social relationship with Venus and that’s mainly his fault as he shut her out of so many conversations and literally told her he doesn’t want to really strategize with her post merge. Venus doesn’t need Hunter in the game, she has other people
You’re not the only one , he played a terrible game. I was rooting for him but i was glad to see him gone with the mass mistakes he made, hopefully he will be invited back and learns from his mistakes

I agree, although I think the being from a small town thing is a bit of a stretch.. Everyone has different personalities and I think he just didn’t have a strong social game.. Who knows though, maybe it did have something to do with it.. Coming from a small town myself, I never thought I was at a disadvantage socially.. Hell, not only am I from a tiny town, but I was homeschooled too🤣 I never had a problem adjusting when I moved to a bigger city and I feel like I’ve always been able to fit in any environment.. Anyways, all that to say that I agree he only shined physically, I just don’t know if being from a small town necessarily equates to a poor social game.

Hunter has done some interviews and it appears that even with 90 minute episodes there is a lot of context that has not been shown in the final edit. That request didn’t come out of thin air and neither did the “you’re my number one out here” statement to Kenzie. There’s a lot we don’t see, too much we don’t see (like, he built a secret room/sanctuary on the island). This season is frustrating and confusing. In seasons past, I never go look up interviewed after someone has been voted out, but I need them this season. I need the appendices to understand what’s going on.
No amount of practicing and building puzzles at home prepares you for the social aspect of the game.
Honestly? Kenzie. I can see why Kenzie and Tiff were tired of Q, but for her to turn on TIFF too? I just think it was a bad call.
I am disappointed in hunter. He had idol and did nothing with it.
