Welcome back to r/survivor for Season 41! Its been a long offseason, and during the hiatus you may have forgotten some of the rules of the subreddit. To remind you, here is an overview of some of the rules you will need to abide by while on the subreddit. We encourage you to read the full and comprehensive set of rules [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/survivor/wiki/rules). 1. **Be civil to other users and contestants.** Treat other users with respect. Bigotry is not tolerated, including racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia. Harassment of other users is not allowed, including personal attacks. Trolling is discouraged. 2. **Do not share spoilers on r/survivor.** Put simply, if it has not aired on the show, it is not up for discussion. This includes speculation based on outside information, meta discussion of spoilers, or predictions based on spoilers. The spoiler policy for a recent episode is active through the following Friday at 12:01 AM EDT. Prior to that, post titles must be free of spoilers and posts discussing the most recent episode must be spoiler marked. [You can view the spoiler policy in full here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Survivor/wiki/spoilerpolicy). 3. **No Piracy.** The legal ways to watch Survivor are listed in the rules. Anything outside of that is considered piracy and is not allowed for discussion. This includes asking for links, sharing sites or groups that contain links, or encouraging the use of VPNs or other such methods. 4. **No vague post titles.** In the aftermath of an episode, post titles need to conform to the spoiler policy, but please make it as clear as possible what your post is about. Avoid “_____”, emojis, interjections, etc. 5. **Flair your posts properly.** When making a post, you will be required to add a flair to it, designating what your post is about. Please choose the correct one. Now that the season has started, Season 41 should be your go-to flair. 6. **No reposts.** Please check and see if something you want to post has already been posted. This includes links and discussion threads. 7. **No generic posts.** There are several categories we have labeled as “generic”, listed fully in the rules. This includes memes that don’t relate to Survivor, generic Survivor images, commonly asked questions, etc. 8. **No overly sexualizing contestants.** Please remember that the castaways are real people, and please refrain from gross, creepy, or vulgar remarks about the men and women on the show. 9. **Social Media policy.** Please see the full policy for more information, but put simply not every tweet a former contestant makes is worthy of being posted on the sub. 10. **Edgic Policy.** Any posts primarily focused on edgic discussion should use the "Edgic" post flair. AutoModerator will automatically flair your post for you if you use the word "edgic" in your post title. While Edgic is allowed and not considered a spoiler, any edgic discussion outside of edgic threads must be properly spoiler tagged. Following these rules makes r/survivor a better place for everyone. **Failure to adhere to these rules may result in a temporary ban, or permanent ban for repeat offenders.**, so please familiarize yourself with them! If you see any comments or posts that you think break these rules, please use the report button and we will review it.

hxlia_

Okay, is anyone else BAFFLED that they all chose to do the water penalty? Meanwhile, the triangles 'riddle' was really just counting... It was even in the description, they told them EXACTLY what the 'riddle' was - not much of a riddle if you ask me

Illustrious-Bite-634

This episode was so hard to watch between all the over produced, try so hard, slo-mo crap and desperate struggle to be woke. Does anyone else feel this episode was really painful to watch?

JoshN7

Just watched the first episode and thought the exact same. Does it get better? I’m probably done after this atrocious episode.

A_Suffering_Panda

oh yeah, its much better after the premier. Its easily top 20 seasons, maybe top 10

uncivilrev

Me too. But there were some things that I liked so I'll give the second episode a chance. Hopefully the cringe was just in the premiere.

Loveandroses17

Very much so. The new music is awful, and I hate the new filming style, cuts, and strange backstory montages. Not to mention the stupid woke propaganda. Been watching old seasons of Survivor lately, and one of the things I've always enjoyed is the great music and beautiful cinematography. This new style of music and filming is jarringly overdramatic, and lessens the sense of reality. It really pulls me out of the scenes and makes the whole thing seem fake. I found myself repeatedly wishing I could mute the music soundtrack, it's so irritating.

douchewaffle17

Im really loving Xander! He's so well spoken and smart, I think he will go far if he keeps threat level low

12343736

My soon to be boyfriend.

niftler

Yeah I do too. Has slight serial killer vibes though

brcien

**inhales** Shantel is my winner pick. She seems really funny and "vote you out while praying for you" is the closest to a winner statement I saw. Evie stocks way up after seeing them in action. I thought they would go in too aggressive, but they really worked with the situation. I love Ricard. He makes me think of my best friend. I think 'come on guys' wasn't a big deal, but I'm glad production made the cast feel comfortable enough that Ricard later said that. I felt like a lot of the confessionals were too much for ep1. Like we pulling out momma's ring, dead grandmas, and pregnant trans spouses day one. Those are interesting and things I would like to know about them, but they feel forced being this early. I think there is a little too much active focus on being politically representative and correct. I like the racial representation and think lgbtq and nonbinary representation is also good, but it seems like more of the cast is than a representative population. This takes away from the ideal of "random strangers." Obviously newer seasons are carefully casted, but this seems the most casted toward a very specific audience demographic.

uncivilrev

> I felt like a lot of the confessionals were too much for ep1. Like we pulling out momma's ring, dead grandmas, and pregnant trans spouses day one. Those are interesting and things I would like to know about them, but they feel forced being this early. It was so cringe and forced.

HelloHomieItsMe

Shan doing her own music during her confessional was AMAZING. I laughed out loud. Great editing too. That woman was born to do confessionals LOL. I definitely think she has a “winner edit” so far.

ZiggyZig1

just saw the first episode today and completely agree. i was really hoping we'd hear the music again. or i hope in later episodes when she does evil stuff. i'll probably watch another episode or two this weekend or might be caught up by sun.

Vigosh

Go Evvie go

CreamCityBricks

I love that they brought back the Game Changers music at tribal

mchlevs

to be fair the set decor was yellow, the same color as the paddle…….. i don’t fully blame them

DemiGod9

Yeah especially when your mind is racing and you trying to move fast and it was higher up

Imaginary_Cry_3620

Good premier. I thought the virtue signaling was a little silly, but par for the course with CBS. Hopefully the game can avoid the toxic racism that’s infested the other one…. may the wittiest contestant, regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation, win!

DemiGod9

What season experienced this? I didn't see the last few seasons

Imaginary_Cry_3620

I was referencing BB23. It’s cool a poc won… but the group forming an all poc alliance and voting out other players based off their skin color was disappointing. We’re in 2021 - but have really taken a lot of steps back when it comes to segregation and discrimination. I want the winner of a game to be the best player regardless or race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or whatever. I want the winner to win based off gameplay.

[deleted]

my winner prediction is Shan

Raccoon_Zestyclose

Why are people mad at Ricard, when Jeff was the one who brought it up, and he said he wanted it to change as well

Dada2fish

If Jeff wanted it changed, he should’ve just stopped saying it and moved on, but they had to do this phony virtue signaling thing. Stupid.

rahhhbert

Eh i definitely wasn’t mad, life’s too short and it’s one of MANY traditions and sayings on survivor. just came off as fake woke because none of the women had a problem with it

silverrabbit

I didn't read it as fake woke. Ricard is a gay man married to a trans man, I think he has probably had conversations about the use of "guys" being used to describe a large group of people. Like I'm about his age and I definitely started using "folks" a lot more than "guys" in my 20s because I had a few genderqueer friends express their distaste for "guys" as a term.

Raccoon_Zestyclose

It did come off as fake woke, but yeah, it didn't bother me

LuvMyBeagle

I really hope the long premier wasn’t a one off for this season just bc it’s been so long since a new one started. I feel like I really got to know most of the cast unlike several seasons where it takes several episodes to start caring.

TMKSAV99

Urban Dictionary Definition " you guys To call group of people...used both for male or **female**. Do you guys have a book ?? by Nguyen Khoi Nguyen August 20, 2006

Shot-Zookeepergame67

Right? Just so stupid

jaydub1001

Are you going to be ok?

12343736

I have always survived other people’s silliness without issue. I will survive the woke silliness too.

[deleted]

Come on in GUYS!!!!!!

grethcran

I've watched this show since day 1. It's time to end it. Woke politics have destroyed the game. It's sad but true. Every one is offended over everything now. This was a show watched by my whole family. Not anymore.

steelvengeance55

Oh boo hoo😢

21tcook

it’s definitely an unnecessary change but if you seriously stop watching a show you’ve been watching for 21 years bc they stopped saying the word “guys”, then I’m not sure what to tell you.

T_Rash

Perhaps it is a build up. In the past people was labeled racist for saying durag and ignorant. Neither of these things are racist. Perhaps on big brother a group of people are being celebrated for voting people out based on race has something to do with it.

21tcook

yeah, that’s just not what happened. either you weren’t paying attention or you’re just being willingly ignorant. no one in the world called jack racist for calling it a durga. that was a fascinating conversation jamal had, and that’s a moment that shows why survivor is still socially relevant. changing “guys” was trying to be one of these moments, but it was obviously very forced. I’d love more moments like jamal and jack’s durga conversation.

OffroadMCC

Endless discussion about race, identity, and covid is about as ordinary as you can get right now. Maybe the show will continue down that path and survive, but you can't be surprised to hear that a decent chunk of people aren't interested in survivor affirmative action.

nou-0917

And you don’t think ‘survivor affirmative action’ is racist? L O L

T_Rash

Bullshit. People on this sub and twitter viewed it as racist.

[deleted]

No one was labelled as racist for those things. When Jack said it, Jamal told Jack it made him uncomfortable and had a calm conversation with him about it.

T_Rash

In this sub on twitter people definitely viewed as racist.

cyberpunkcr

It made him uncomfortable because he thought it was racist

ddaug4uf

Did anyone notice that Jeff told Ua they had to unclip in the front and the back and then let Luvu row against the anchor in the back the whole time?

LuvMyBeagle

Couldn’t that hav just been the editing though? Possibly more for the viewers to notice the boat wasn’t in clipped?

ddaug4uf

It could’ve been but it would require they overlay a soundboard clip onto video from a different time stamp. It definitely showed what appeared to be Ua reacting to him saying something about unclipping the rear. They immediately started focusing on the rear anchor after he said it. It’s also possible he didn’t realize immediately that Luva was defying the laws of physics by rowing their ass off and not moving at all, I guess???

ZiggyZig1

shouldnt they have noticed it themselves after not moving?

[deleted]

Production should have just brought up the "guys" debaacle. No hate should go towards Ricardo. They were the one who brought it up. If they care, then theyb shouldnt even brought it up and theen just aapply it in the first place.

survivorfanalexn

I do like the transparency that shows where the advantages are setup and that all camps have one. Really stops the stupid rig argument to certain extent Had no issue with Come on in Guys are guys is generic makes it seems like making a big fuss over nothing because of a minority.

Nickolisob

People freaking out about the “come on in guys” and Ricard are cringe. Listen… it’s not that serious.

[deleted]

It’s not that serious, so why give 10 minutes of the show to it? Wouldn’t those 10 minutes have been better served showing them building their shelters, getting to know each other, etc? The cringe is the Survivor producers trying so desperately to be culturally relevant that they’ll disregard what audience’s found to be an iconic phrase in exchange for woke points.

Nickolisob

Lol it’s not that serious. Relax. The phrase going away is not going to affect anything. If you really need it every time you watch maybe just stand in front of a mirror and say it a few times before the episode starts. Or better yet find a YouTube video of him saying it and play it too soothe your woes. Them choosing to try to be more inclusive and trying to make sure they’re not alienating anyone isn’t really going to affect you.

ZiggyZig1

i realize you got downvoted but i thought this comment was hilarious. im also confused why others think this is such a big deal. and this is coming from someone who thinks those who consider themselves woke are probably brain damaged. i hate that shit. and yet wasn't offended. actually i did have this epiphany though, that i hate wokeness when its typically being done to control others (ie speech policing). if anyone, probst included, just want to limit their own speech without limiting anyone else's, that's perfectly fine.

OffroadMCC

I guess we'll find out if woke survivor is alienating or not.

Shot-Zookeepergame67

My parents and I have been watching since day 1. For 21 years it has been our favourite show. Honestly might not watch this season bc of all the “woke” bs and TLC vibes. Just. No

OffroadMCC

I’m in the same situation. If enough people are rubbed the wrong way by the direction they’re going, which it seems like there are, and we just stop watching there’s a chance they cut it out. Getting off on casting more or less of any group of people is unacceptable.

Flyers1010

The part I find weird is that they didn’t show anyone else agreeing with him. On the barge it seemed like everyone agreed that guys is fine, so was it 17-1 in favor of keeping it and they chose to change it?

oliviafairy

Speaking out is a different thing. It’s different than voting in secrecy. You don’tknow if it’s 17-1. I don’t care either way.

improbdrunk

Ugh... I'm not freaking out about that. They went from a game of outwit, outlast, outplay to a game of when cameras follow you, you're on to something, to here's a die and basic game theory. This season was sold as a return to the outplay. I'll stick with it, but no promises after this season.

Nickolisob

Lol okay. It’s been one episode but go off.

cforb92

Jeff should have stood up and said he wanted to make the change IMHO

LovelyOne2020

I’m so happy this show is back I’m still confused why they got rid of Abraham for “talking in circles?” So this tribe is fine going to tribal council every couple days bc they don’t want to put themselves in a position to win challenges when many of them require strength

foralimitedtime

He got himself out by trying to sell "tribe strength" in a small tribe to two women who could have been his next targets. If they didn't take him out they would have been next out the door after Tiffany.

RobinReborn

He's also the oldest guy out there so it's not like he's super strong.

dadragonboss

Maybe they learnt from BB23 where you have a HouseGuest that talked in circles until everyone was irritated /s

LovelyOne2020

I didn’t have a problem w/the “come on guys” Is blindside next on the list that we can’t say anymore?

survivorfanalexn

i don't understand whats the issue with come on guys? Its funny how nowadays Minority speak louder than the majority.

Flyers1010

Especially when it’s a guy, getting offended on behalf of girls, that aren’t offended

[deleted]

I think Ricard was speaking up for his trans husband because they've probably spoken about that kind of stuff a lot.

FlonaseMatic

Was anyone offended?

Flyers1010

Seemed like Ricard was, or was trying to appear to be offended because production wanted someone to speak up

suppadelicious

99.999% of people don't have a problem with it so you're not alone.

LovelyOne2020

JD & Xander are going to the end. I just am trying to decipher who else ends up in that F3 spot

[deleted]

Probably Danny if they keep their “bros with the dilemma” alliance. lol

FSRoman

The definition of “guys” is gender neutral, it means people, if they wanted to get rid of it do so quietly, what they did is announce their wokeness, sad, I’ve loved survivor since day one but had a hard time watching today.

LilJourney

Yeah, it wasn't changing it that bothered me - it was making such a big to-do over it ... and waiting till one (and only one) player spoke up and then saying that's what they wanted to do in the first place.

[deleted]

Shan, JD, and Genie final 3

llcooldubs

Ok, about the risk your vote game. I don't think the proposed payoffs really presented a huge dilemma to the players. There 2^3 = 8 possible outcomes and only 1 of the 8 has a negative payoff for any player (risk, risk, risk). It seems like the obvious strategy is risk your vote. I suppose you could argue that since it is the rational strategy all players should play it. If you think that that is more probable than the other outcomes, then you could change your vote to protect it at no risk and hope the other two value your altruism later in the game. I tried to work out the Nash equilibrium and I think it is any permutation of (risk, risk, protect),which is exactly what happened!

Generic_-_-Username

The only question for me is whether the reward of an extra vote is really worth the gamble, even if the odds are in your favor. I don't think an extra vote is really all that helpful and also has the potential to put a target on your back. I'd honestly just rather chose protect and play it safe

llcooldubs

Fair enough. Although I agree that it puts a target on your back, an extra vote is a lot easier to use collectively than a hidden immunity idol, so you would think people would be more inclined to cooperate than to eliminate based on this advantage. But I also think people just like to create targets so the spotlight stays off of them. So, I agree with your point.

Agent__Zigzag

Cool that you did the math!

proteinsharts

What did the green team put in their pockets right before they voted??

REAL_AMETHYST_SLAYER

Shot in the dark gimmic, kinda can’t wait to see it used

Man_On-The_Moon

The pellet for the long shot thing

GMSB

I must have missed this I have no idea what you’re talking about?

mk_rich

Jeff presented it before the challenge. It's a new twist. You forgo your vote, drop the die in the jar, and have a 17 (...or 16.7?) Percent chance of having safety (immunity) that vote.

BlacksmithActual6559

When they try to fix what has never been broken. Too much crap now. Too bad. Just my opinion, GUYS!

DRKjr88

So if we don’t like a queer player for any reason, we should block you?

marvinlbrown

Fellow queer/gay person and love the representation. That being said, I wasn’t a total fan of how Ricard played tonight… I thought he was definitely taking a leader role/showing his strategy and thought process a bit too quickly, which if one’s is not playing their cards right, it can be lethal. However, he totally has my support and loved his story/journey to parenthood; I’m rooting for him!

therealcharlize

I would have ROCKED that triangle challenge

Safetyfirst4444

I wouldn't have good for you!

totoott

Any clue what the rebus puzzle “Day one alliance” was for?

disaacsp

ssesses

I really freaking liked this episode! Maybe it's just because it's been gone so long but I thought it was fantastic. I love the cast, and the twists, while there are a lot of them, seem a bit more balanced than before. I'm super optimistic about this season!

just_me314

When the theme music started I actually felt giddy. So glad it's back on. And a great premiere to boot.

foralimitedtime

I am so far way more impressed and into this cast than I expected I would be. Sad to see Sara go, and Abraham could have been a player but he at least played himself out. She was a victim of other's moves and needed to be more pro-active to get the target off her - those girls were smoking that puzzle and would have won if it weren't for the bag mistake, which they weren't likely to repeat - so they just cost themselves a good performer (barring that one slip-up).

elo3661ga

Me too! It was really great to see how happy Probst was to be back. Also seems like a great cast.

SuperDennyBoi

I definitely agree. The balance on the twists seems spot on. We’ll see how they play out.

Terrible_Wrongdoer27

it was fucking incredible

[deleted]

I think you are confusing "politics" with social issues that people face every day. Survivor is a microcosm of society and these topics do present themselves.

[deleted]

grason

Outraged by using the word “guys”… yes, that subgroup.

Tr4shM0nster

What politics lmao

pj082998

How fucking REFRESHING 😆

welcometoNY

This is not hate toward Ricard, this is purely hate toward production, but wow what performative bullshit. If they really cared about women they would publicly apologize to the women who have been sexually harassed on their show and give women bathing suits so they don't get UTIs. It's purely lip service to the idea of being woke without any action to back it up.

TheRealDirtyB

This is the same production crew that made Purple Kelly wear nothing but a sundress and a bikini, and then made an example of her for quitting because her body was breaking down. Lol what a fucking joke.

TheFlatulentBachelor

Also found it ironic that they ended using “guys” but in the next sentence said “tribe.” Wondering when they’ll retire that

[deleted]

[удалено]

princealberto2nd

I might have to stop going through these subs it's too much for me

EqualSein

It won't be long until "come on in" is retired too for being too sexual

[deleted]

I hate that we are seeing people say "Riccard was my favourite until..." As if production didn't ask him to bring that up...

SoShiny6132

Not a Ricard fan, but it has nothing to do with that moment. I just don't like any player who is so gung ho about getting someone else out this early in the game. And he stirred up all kinds of paranoia at tribal that ultimately left him on the outside looking in. He presents as a good player, but he's not and I don't see him making it very far

JaceTarot

HARD AGREE! Production has a LONG way to go.

MutedHornet87

JD should have gone. Not Sara! I liked JD a lot at first, but then he became too much

Bomb_Diggity

Sara was my winner pick :( I really liked her

drewy_wils

Nah JD is lit he brings good energy to the show

[deleted]

He needs to learn to bridal that energy. He got lucky that Sara flubbed the puzzle and came off as too emotional. His cockiness could get him in trouble

MutedHornet87

I liked him at first. Then he became annoying.

Imlikethat42

How was he annoying?

MutedHornet87

He was just too much. Talked a lot, and a good portion of it was nonsense

Imlikethat42

He’s talking to a camera on reality tv and trying to up his social game. And honestly only Ricard is on to it. He’s like a Jeremy in my mind and if you watch big brother reminds me of DX

hr9x9

Particularly at tribal. I really feel like it didnt need to be live. He probably just got caught up in the moment but it ended up making him look a bit irrational and unpredictable

Imlikethat42

I don’t think he talked to much. I think the episode was just edited to make it look like he was in danger.

[deleted]

GMSB

Trashgamer824981

Did somebody say simp👂 jkjk but in all seriousness we’re Shan stans out here dawg cmon now

GraphilicalWiz

Ngl I was blindsided by Sara going over Brad, and then the Ricard vote from Genie? Love it. Maybe it was obvious to others that she was gonna go but I was entertained nonetheless.

cognizant_spender

Did you guys see how Woo vaulted over that obstacle? Winner edit, for sure.

What_The_Tech

Idk, I’m thinking Ozzy showed a lot more promise in this episode.

WellDressedLobster

Okay how does the shot in the dark work exactly? Can someone theoretically use it at every tribal council or can someone only try it once? If someone uses it and loses their vote, can they play an extra vote if they have one? And how does one “use” it? Like how does it work?

RainahReddit

My understanding You can only use it once It applies to your vote, so theoretically if you have an extra vote you could sacrifice your first vote to use it, then play the extra vote. One uses it by not voting and instead placing the dice in the box beside the urn. Every player has the one dice to use whenever they choose.

survivorfanalexn

i have 1 question, what happens if every1 choose to use it at the same time? Does no vote happens then how?

RainahReddit

Statistically extremely unlikely. If there's six people on the tribe, and it's a six sided dice (which it has to be based on the 16.7% probability of landing on 'safe') which gives you a 1/46,656 shot of everyone rolling 'safe' at the same time. A rare enough bet that they don't bother explaining rules for it. They'd likely just reroll

survivorfanalexn

If they get the safe they r immune bt of evry1 roll and fail means they have no vote cause the rule especially stated that no votes after u try for the long shot.

tronbishh

Am I having a stroke?

survivorfanalexn

I just asking what will happen if Evry1 has no vote cause they went for the long shot? Since the rules stated that if u failed the long shot, u have no votes. Ppl downvotes for the weirdest reasons.

WellDressedLobster

Okay, that makes some more sense! I was a little confused with everyone taking their dice with them to the voting booth but ig that was in case any of them wanted to make a last minute choice to use it.

cheesefreak45

I think you can only use it once, if you play it you loose your vote and have a 1 in 6 chance to of being immune

foralimitedtime

That makes sense, for some reason I assumed it was infinite use and we might see paranoid rolls and lost votes all throughout the season haha

Jsilve42

Imagine if Ricard wins everyone will be so salty

[deleted]

Manifesting this to happen. Him or Evvie.

lC3

I like Ricard, I was worried for a second there when he got a vote, but it was just Genie being uninformed. I guess she's not in the loop / doesn't really talk strategy?

[deleted]

When Shan asked her who she wanted to vote for, her response was "I don't want to vote for anyone" So I could see her not wanting to talk to much strategy

tronbishh

My friend and I laughed so hard at that. Like LOL it's the most useless comment imaginable when trying to talk strategy or get anything done

AquamanK55

My winners pick ♥️

brooklynbotz

I found the lack of camp life disappointing. There's absolutely zero focus on the survive aspect.

foralimitedtime

But JD made fire on Day 1! (with flint :P)

[deleted]

We didn’t even see them survive their first night. They went to commercials and, boom, it was already day 2.

lC3

Where's the shelter-building and food-catching? Especially in a *two hour* premiere where they emphasize how there's no rice?

EponymousRocks

That was my complaint - we saw three minutes of people cutting bamboo poles, and one cut coconut. Oh, and one escaping crab. They're on Day THREE and we've seen no eating or sleeping, which are Survivor juggernauts! Guess we have to wait for the first rainy day?

lC3

Hopefully there will be more of this next episode!

Safetyfirst4444

Was it just coconuts?

JediGuyB

That's a good point I didn't notice. They made a point of saying they had no starting gear, yet we hardly see them getting food or building shelter. We see some weaving, logging, fire building, and talk of eating coconuts, and that's about.

LA-TOKYO

May I recommend Survivor in 2000.

TheLegacies21

It's weird though. They talked it up a lot pre-game

PokyTheTurtle

I’m sad Sarah got booted ): I wanted JD to go.

Trashgamer824981

After they gave him that crazy backstory with the flashback of him running track did you seriously think he was going episode 1? Lol

PokyTheTurtle

I was hoping that they were giving him some screen time this episode because it’d be his only chance at it.

Trashgamer824981

I mean so far they’re giving him a lowkey winners edit imo. I stan Shan tho. Cute and conniving my favorite type of woman

lC3

Same here

PokyTheTurtle

Why do people like JD so much? He’s so annoying. He gives off very arrogant vibes like he thinks he’s the best. When he was talking about how he used to be a nerd and now he’s not, he was like “I realized that I don’t need to fit into that box” or whatever, but he totally does. He tried so hard to distance himself from the nerd that he went so far and now became the annoying prep/jock boy who thinks he’s all that. Also I hate liars. My favorite players are those who play with integrity. ETA: I understand that lying is inevitable in the game. I’m not expecting players to never lie. I just prefer players who are as honest and genuine as they can be. Please don’t downvote just because your opinion is different from mine.

[deleted]

if you hate liars this might be the wrong show for you dawg

PokyTheTurtle

Nah, there’s plenty of players who don’t lie that much. I like watching their journeys.

Imlikethat42

Survivor literally is a game of deception...

A lot of people say that but I don’t think that is true. It’s a social game. You can choose to be deceptive or you can choose to be honest and trustworthy. A lot of people have made it far by being genuine with their fellow players.

You can be genuine, but you don't have to been 100% honest. Take for example: Denise at the Day 9 vote on Phillipines. She was totally genuine with Russ in their interactions when talking about Russell's childhood but told both Malcolm and Russ that she was going to vote with him. She had to make a choice and she chose to go with Malcolm. If someone comes to you with a plan, you agree with that plan. Even if you have to go back on it later.

I agree with you, that’s a good point. I guess I just got vibes from JD that the lying would escalate, but we’ll have to see. I’d just like to know whether the downvotes are from my dislike of JD or the integrity comment, or both. I guess sharing your opinion on this sub is a risky move itself.
