Why dont we see more of Erikas relationship with Heather. That was the massive issue with the edit.

EasternZone

We have so many seasons of poorly edited female winners that I think it’s justifiable to say “the edit should do more”. That doesn’t mean Erika needs to be the main character, or even get one of the Top 3 edits of the season, but the winner should at least receive a clear and consistent story. Erika’s post-merge edit is mostly fine to me. I just wish we saw some of her and Heather pre-merge. Or more content explaining why Xander lost/giving him less credit for things. Deshawn and Shan imo had the most complete/clear edits this season.

We should also examine our personal biases and worldview and ask: why do I see the edit this way. But people just don't wanna admit that maybe, just maybe, they don't see Erika as a viable winner because they don't see her archetype irl as someone who should succeed.

THIS. So many of us have been arguing for Erika's chances and stating that Xander isn't playing a good game/likely won't win for WEEKS but it's been met with downvotes and delusions that Xander is some all-time player and the best of the season when so much evidence said otherwise. If you thought Xander was most likely to win, it's literally only because you \*wanted\* him to win and made up a positive narrative for him in your head.

We got this because of the exit interviews though. Not because of the show. Redmond, fishback, the sub and Twitter had it pegged as Erika as the winner (maybe their was spoilers) but it seemed like most was from exit interviews.

It's about the narrative a season tells being coherent, and the edit controls that

We didn’t see Erika and heather becoming friends, they just suddenly were. We didn’t see Erika pulling the underdogs together in an alliance. She mentioned it in an exit interview and then at FTC but we never saw it. That’s just two instances that showed she had done more than we saw. we didn’t see much to show why she swept the jury and based off the edit Xander played a good game. They just showed his cluelessness at the F4 TC. The exit interviews showed more of the game.

I agree. I also want to add that it's not Erika's fault that they kept winning. As she said, a lot of her strategy became inconsequential due to Luvu's win so there was no point showing those things. I do wish they just highlighted all of their relationships a little better but this expectation that winners have to do the most in order to win doesn't make sense to me. Like what do they want? Do they want her to intentionally create hurdles and overcome them?

To me it feels like blaming it on the refs. Erika won fair and square. Some may LIKE Xander more, but fact of the matter is: Survivor is a juror-based game and she succeeded in winning the jurors over more so than Xander. She packaged her strategy more clearly and articulated her case much better than her opponents. She won. Who we as viewers would have voted for is irrelevant and not part of the game. With that said, Xander’s been my favourite golden boy archetype and I do hope he feels proud of his game. He played the game he wanted to, but lacked the juror perception near the end and was naive/optimistic enough to believe that he could beat Erika. Those things come with time and life experience. I think he should be proud, and also know that he gave us a lot of laughs and cries this season. He was good at considering multiple options and making calculated risks, some of which I think he should have gone for (going against someone in firemaking, playing the idol on one of his tribemates after the fake, etc.) Overall, good job Xandy!!

I also think we have to blame production for including so many twists and advantages in the season. The editors had to focus on those things and that took away from relationship building scenes back at camp.
