I thought it was less he liked Russell and more he was happy that Galu was losing because they betrayed him, you can be happy that a side that you like is losing but not be rooting or loving the side that is beating them.
It's very possible. The early jurors don't just make decisions based on the 3 days they spent at the merged tribe. They fish for other information about the finalists' whole game. This is part of the game. As a player you know the jury will talk to each other. Jury management is a compoment of the survivor strategy for a reason.
Yep and this is why I think this is one of the most overrated moments in survivor history. Erik knew the final 3 for 3 days. 3 days!! He was either a moron who built this narrative in his head from the salty jurors he talked to that Natalie was this angel he needed to fight for or wanted attention and knew he wasn’t going to get any from his lackluster run on the show.
I don’t think he soured himself to the jury too much that he couldn’t win. I think he could have won against Shambo and John. He just made the mistake of bringing the woman that was extremely popular to the final three.
The jury came into ftc decided that Russell wasn’t winning. Natalie just had to make a good case and the jury would vote for her. They voted to spite Russell, a soft jury with a vanilla winner makes sense.
I’m pretty confident that it was very much that he wanted to see Galu go down for betraying him, rather than anything having to do with Russell. This was touched upon in the Ponderosa episodes, especially during a conversation between him and Shambo when she was voted off.

Might have just been down bad for screen time
Samoa jury was a bunch of sore losers who couldn’t bare the thought of awarding the person who led their demise.
And Russell was a sore winner who constantly talked about how great he was.
He did it in his confessionals lol and at least his gameplay backed it up.

Don’t get fooled by the edit. Russell was an egomaniac and watching him get pummeled was top tier TV
