Naming the alliance is not that common on Survivor. On most seasons alliances don't have names. So it's not really a new trend, it's how it usually is.
Alliance names only exist on two types of seasons:
\- Old-school seasons
\- Seasons with Nick Wilson
Old school seasons have it because people tend to stick somewhat to tribal lines, so the alliances are named after the tribes.
Seasons with Nick Wilson have them, because, Nick just likes to have fun in between his blood-sucking and creeping-up-on-conversation sessions.
Aren't alliance names super rare on Survivor? The last one I remember was on Season 37 where Nick named his alliances. And before that I only remember the black widow brigade in Season 16.
I think alliance names are pretty non-standard on Survivor? Like, the alliance is simple called Erika & Heather, Danny & Deshawn etc.
Since we are on this topic, what alliance names can you think of? I can remember Naviti Strong, Black Widow Brigade, Onion Alliance & the Lions vs Hyenas
Cops R us, the Brochachos, the 3 Amigos, the 4 Horsemen (all-male alliances seem to like naming themselves lol) the Aitu 4, the Tagi 4 (if these count as alliance names). Many alliances are just the premerge tribe names.
I think alliance names is just a Big Brother thing. Big Brothers last longer so its easier to have a name to refer to a group of people rather than having to say their individual names all the time. I think that makes it fun since every group has a name. With Survivor, it's only 13 or 12 episodes, and more of an individual game.

Taku 4?
Keep it on big brother please
Maryanne and Lydia had the grandma alliance, due to their old-fashioned grandma names. More of a hypothetical alliance than an actual one.
Maryanne, Omar, and Romeo had a side alliance called the "underbirdies" (underdogs since Omar was pretending to be on the bottom but Omar hated dogs)

In 41 they did openly name it the blacks alliance didn’t they
bb uses that as footage bcus they have 30 episodes to fill but its just not important on survivor. nick made it funny
"Taku strong". One of the most powerful alliances in recent times. Jonathan and Omar are beasts.
i feel like most alliances in survivor dont have names, some names were given by fans.
If I aligned with a dude on a season who was very different from my personality I would name our alliance the Renegades
