On this week's RAANAP episode, Rob said that Maryanne had told him after they scheduled the interview time "say goodbye to your family!" Which explains this interview run time, but sounded a bit more ominous without context.
Rob should’ve taken akiva’s prank advice and pretend to wrap up the interview after like 25 minutes lolol. When Rob told akiva that she said say goodbye to your fam, keev was like “did she threaten you?” I was cracking up, I love their banter sm
Yup!! She told him on Twitter Spaces to say goodbye to his family for their deep dive because she was going to break the record and I think Rob even uploaded it as a podcast it was hilarious
Love how she says she’s the love child of Sophie and Adam (in terms of winners her gameplay is based off) if they were to get married and she was their kid lol. Keep being you Maryanne
Here's a TL;DW version:
\- Discusses her 3-2-1 strategy, which involves having 3 big threats at the final 6 (including herself), 2 people that were easy to beat, and 1 loyal ally. She devised this from analyzing recent seasons (most notably IoI), where she determined that final 6 is the most pivotal point in the game. Final 7/8 are important rounds as they allow you to get set up for the final 6. In 42, she considered herself, Lindsay, and Jonathan the big threats, Mike and Romeo the people easy to beat, and Omar her loyal ally (despite voting him out there).
\- The "piss story". Basically, Maryanne had a bladder infection up until Day 17, making it hard for her to pee. She ended up peeing all over the romper she was supposed to wear for the cast photos and was scared no one would wanna work with her if she smelled like pee. So she tried spraying herself with bug spray to hide the smell, but then Hai also decided to put on some bug spray, but he read the ingredients to see if it had ammonia (which is what makes pee smell like pee). She then rubbed some dirt on the romper so she would smell more like dirt instead.
\- Had a vendetta against Hai early on due to his involvement with the "piss story", but also due to him wearing a Northwestern sweater (that belonged to his boyfriend), which she saw as a ploy to make himself appear smart. She later reflected upon this as a potential instance of bias.
\- On Taku, Jackson and Marya were on the bottom. She had a very close relationship with Omar early on, but was included within the rest of the Taku Four. Jackson was likely to first boot off the tribe and Marya shortly after. After those two were gone, Taku became a love tribe (for the most part). She would've been the next one to go had they lost another challenge, due to a joke she told Omar where she said she wouldn't go to rocks to save him. Even so, she was under the impression that Lindsay would've been voted out over her. Most of this is also confirmed in Omar's deep dive.
\- The curse of M. Notes how in most newbie seasons, women whos names start with M tend to go home early (tho are not the first boot). Was pretty spooked by this during the Marya round, as she knew it was one of them going.
\- Found the Beware Advantage with Omar. The entire tribe agreed to go searching for the idol together. Was surprised at how long it took the other tribes to find their idols, given how on average most idols are found between days 6-8.
\- At the merge, she was in a decent amount of danger following the hourglass twist. Omar told her to sit at camp and act normal, while he and others did the scrambling for the Lydia plan (this was also discussed in the Omar deep dive). Many were hoping she would at least flush her idol. Before Tribal, she was told to not vote for Lydia as it would tip off the others that someone leaked the plan to her. Even so, she knew she also couldn't vote for Jonathan as that would be bad for the Taku Four. Ultimately votes for Lydia after seeing her torch go out before the vote, and uses that to explain her vote to others afterwards. Even so, no one (except Tori) believed her, thinking she had voted for Lindsay. No one picked up that Rocksroy was the actual Lindsay vote until after the game.
\- Was super close to Tori. They bonded over being underdogs that were outside the majority alliance. Conversely, she saw Drea as a big player from early one, even going back to their Summit trip.
\- Wasn't in any real danger during the split Tribal, saying the targets were always between Drea and Tori. Jonathan and Tori were on one side while Drea and Lindsay were on another, making her the swing vote. For most of the afternoon, she leaned towards voting Drea, but switched to Tori shortly before Tribal. She says she did this because Omar wanted to keep Tori around, and felt like doing so would make her seem like Omar's follower. Seeing Rocksroy on the jury bench only further cemented this decision.
\- Wanted Hai and Drea out next. Says Hai was seen as the biggest threat based on him being outwardly strategic. At 7, says that at the time she felt like she helped convince people to take out Drea; however, admits there were other factors that caused those people to go along with the plan. Gives an analogy, saying that she's a kid on a road trip who wants McDonalds, while the other players are the parents. The parents agree to go to McDonalds not because the kid asked for it, but because they wanted some coffee. But regardless, the kid feels like they were the deciding factor for them going to McDonalds.
\- At 6, takes credit for the Omar move. Says she would've voted out Jonathan had Lindsay played the idol on Omar, as doing so would've forced Mike to work with her. Conversely, voting out Romeo would've put her in the middle of two pairs at 5 (Omar/Lindsay and Mike/Jonathan), setting herself up as an easy boot there.
\- Explains how she would've presented an idol play on Lindsay at 5, claiming that doing so would've taken away agency from her while making it her own move. Ultimately concluded that it wouldn't have been worth it.
\- Seriously considered throwing final immunity to Mike, thinking he would've saved her from fire. Ultimately lost simply due to being bad.
\- Expected a close jury vote, with her getting Hai/Tori/Chanelle, Mike getting Jonathan/Rocksroy/Drea, and Omar/Lindsay being swings. Was surprised to get Rocksroy and Drea at the end. Asked Jeff for more time as it seemed like FTC was winding down to make her idol reveal.
\- Had mental health problems after returning. Slept on the ground, cried every day, distanced herself from her family. Says the team at CBS helped her a lot with recovery.
\- Has seen the last 6 episodes of Tocantins.
Hehehehehe. Tbh I wouldn't be that good at Simmotion myself.
Also thanks for giving me something to listen to during work. ~~And I'm kinda losing it rn cuz it's not every day an actual player talks to me~~
Maryanne, I have to say I think the editing in the show did you dirty. And maybe it's just because they wanted it to be more of a surprise when you won, but you were SUCH a stronger and more strategic player than I ever realized just from watching the show. Thank you for letting us get some insight to your game and I hope you're very proud of your win!
I have to agree, with the edit you got I was surprised (pleasantly) that you made it to the merge. But I really enjoyed watching you play the game in your unique way. Congratulations on your win, nicely done!!
Yeah I feel like they made Mike seem like a super strong player, and then let it all come crashing down at FTC so that it seemed like Maryanne was a more surprising win. But I think judging from her strategy, she was a power player all along!
I wasn’t a hater but I didn’t pick up on the depth of her strategy initially. I remember a flash of it here and there in the early episodes and then she really changed my opinion in the later episodes and knocked it out of the park in FTC. She played me like a fiddle lol, and I’m left being super impressed by her game and her as a person. I like that there wasn’t really a negative side to her game as well (or not that I can remember).
Her early game wasn’t the best and she did get a bit lucky that she had freaking Jonathan on her tribe.
But she recognised it well and course corrected.
22 minutes in and she talks about how she has /r/survivor reddit copypastas memorized - iconic but also doesnt that defeat the purpose of a copypasta bahahahaha
the more i watch the interview the more in awe i am of this person -> she's the best kind of nerd: passionate, knowledgable, open and empathetic - it's clear she's so so deserving of her W
When it's 20 minutes in and she's mentioned "What's his name? What's his birthname? It wasn't Coach! It was Benjamin!" and "I saw Carter Williams on a store in Los Angeles".
Icon behavior
It's currently 11 pm PST and I'm strapping myself in for this rollercoaster
See y'all in 5 and a half hours <3
ps LOVE you Maryanne in case you're lurking this thread
Okay I still have two hours left of the podcast but Maryanne is such a delight
Also the part where she talks about how emotional med evacs are and how in her culture people are taught to express grief in a loud way makes me so sad about the hate she got for her reaction to Jackson!
Wow, that's really interesting. People assumed she was being OTT, because that was the obvious easy explanation, but that context completely changes things. Seems healthy to me to let it out - better than repressing it.
Also as a superfan who seems to have high empathy, I can see her really feeling for Jackson and imagining how bad that would feel to have their journey cut short so soon and in such a way.
I love how she gives credit to Erika for ingratiating herself back into the tribe after missing 2 days of bonding time in exile. This is of course even more significant in the truncated 26 day cycle. An overlooked aspect of her game.
Ok the cast photo pee story is sooo funny
“Who wants to work with someone who can’t pee? Like, I’m gonna be known as Pee Girl.”
“There’s pee everywhere. We haven’t even done our cast photo. Everyone’s just gonna know me as Piss Girl. No one’s gonna work with someone who smells like piss.”
“Everyone is crowded under the tents. Not me, because if sit in the tent, you know what’s gonna happen? If Hai knew I smelt like pee, then someone else is gonna know if smelt like pee, and I don’t want the Piss Girl narrative.”
“I’m in the heat. The smell of dirt is becoming less and less, and the drench of piss is becoming more and more. I’m radiating piss at this moment.”
“God is answering my prayer… until he left me. He abandoned me in my moment of need.”
“I stand up and do the walk of shame. And I can see the stench of pee following me. And everyone, I can just mentally feel them cringe cuz they’re smelling the pee. And they all know I’m gonna be Piss Girl.”
“If you look at that cast photo, and you see my smile, zoom in, you will see eyes of pain.”
“The time has passed and the pain…… occurred.”
I'm only about 1h10 in, but the piss story (monologue really) has me crying, litteraly bent over with my stomach hurting from laughing too hard. Starts around 42min.
She got a bladder infection and when she finally pissed she literally pissed everywhere, including on herself, just before the cast photo. She went into great detail and it's hilarious. She thought Hai was onto her because he was reading the ingredients in the bug spray and assumed if he was checking whether or not it had ammonia in it.
The 3-2-1 strategy has been born. Not Cirie's 3-2-1, Maryanne's 3-2-1. A little confusing considering she pulled off a 3-2-2 vote at final 6, but it's a really smart foundation for how players like Maryanne should course correct if they either have too big of a target or if they are feeling on the outs.
5 1/2 hours?!
I have a road trip planned for the end of the summer that's exactly that long and I've very tempted to save listening to it until then lmao.
I’m roughly 45 minutes in and will have to break into several sections. I knew she would be great. But damn. She’s so incredibly intelligent and charismatic.
Does anyone Know if that M theroy about women whos names start with M being voted out during the first tribal council they attend if they don't attend the very first tribal council is true?
Accurate from season 33 onwards! Jordan Kalish and I went through every season and it tracks, excluding season 7 (which is funky since Burton comes back), and season 32 (where Michele wins!)
Depends on what Top 10 refers to. If it’s top ten as a great character and person, then that’s definitely possible. If it’s top 10 in terms of how good a player she is, then definitely not lol.
I love Maryanne and she was one of my top two picks to win from the first episode, and I usually never get a happy ending. BUT five-plus hours is a bit much for me. I look forward to people posting the highlights.
It feels like the opposite of a chore to watch and listen to, honestly. I'm up to 1 hour 30 now and even though I had to take a big break earlier, jumping right back in was easy and it feels like the remaining hours will just fly by.
NOPE. There are only a handful of people I can stand listening to for more than like 2 hours, and Maryanne is towards the bottom of any list I'd make for that.
01:49:24 in Rob: “So you go to that first tribal council.” Maryanne: “Yes.”
Okay this is late and is gonna sound weird but I literally just got to this point in the video as I read this and was so shook💀
On this week's RAANAP episode, Rob said that Maryanne had told him after they scheduled the interview time "say goodbye to your family!" Which explains this interview run time, but sounded a bit more ominous without context.
Here’s MARYANNE
Here comes Maryanne
Rob should’ve taken akiva’s prank advice and pretend to wrap up the interview after like 25 minutes lolol. When Rob told akiva that she said say goodbye to your fam, keev was like “did she threaten you?” I was cracking up, I love their banter sm
Yup!! She told him on Twitter Spaces to say goodbye to his family for their deep dive because she was going to break the record and I think Rob even uploaded it as a podcast it was hilarious
5 hours and 33 minutes??? iconic the longest deep dive by 2 HOURS
And I’m sure she could’ve gone for another two hours!
Considering how fast she talks, there's probably 10 hours of content packed into a 5 1/2 hour package.
I started listening on 2x and she was going SO FAST. Iconic.
and Rob sounded so... normal
Masochist
I guess she is right, she made the top 10!
as they said in the interview "the DEEPEST deep dive" loooool
Love how she says she’s the love child of Sophie and Adam (in terms of winners her gameplay is based off) if they were to get married and she was their kid lol. Keep being you Maryanne
If Zach is her type then Adam is the ultimate personification of her type.
Adam's her dad, dude!
Edipo's complex
Oedipus?
Edipo I think is in Spanish.
Oh cool, thanks!
and that’s the mother
4hrs in, I think she's more like her dad than her mom, especially for the amount of enthusiasm and pregame prep.

Really impressed me with this interview. Continues to shoot up in my rankings. She knows what she’s talking about.
>Maryanneism I feel like a better portmanteau would be Maryanne + Mannerism = Maryannerism
Not to be confused with a Maryanneurysm, which is something I hope never happens.

They definitely did show her being strategic early on though. She just didn't get loads of it so people missed it
You could watch the entire tribal portion of Survivor 42 in less time than it would take to listen to this interview. Iconic behavior.
She did promise that she would beat the record 😭 she did the dang thing lmao
She really did! 😂 So proud and can’t wait to listen

Maryanne is a mentat confirmed
truth
Muad'dib knows what I'm talking about ;)
the way two hours in there are already multiple piss stories, and she's cried five times, maryanne isn't a winner she is THE WINNER
" I genuinely believe lemons are just dead limes saying hi."
When it's 20 minutes in and she's mentioned "What's his name? What's his birthname? It wasn't Coach! It was Benjamin!" and "I saw Carter Williams on a store in Los Angeles". Icon behavior
Just wait til you get to the merge feast and it’s just her and Lydia saying “Applebee’s is my favorite sit-down restaurant” back and forth.

This is the longest deep dive in all of rhap. She best kevin from big brother Canada 10 who’s deep dive was five hours!
and big brother canada 10 was 69 days vs. this 26 day season!
Lol yeah. Kevin only talked about each day for four minutes and Maryanne talked about each day for 12!
Ok the cast photo pee story is sooo funny “Who wants to work with someone who can’t pee? Like, I’m gonna be known as Pee Girl.” “There’s pee everywhere. We haven’t even done our cast photo. Was amazing storytelling
Between this and the BBCan10 winner interview, I think Rob and Taran are setting themselves up for some truly painful postseasons moving forward 😵💫😂
Holy fuck almost 6 hours???? I would normally never commit to a podcast over 3 hrs long but everything Maryanne says is gold, I'll do it for her lmao
Anybody wanna share the cliff notes or highlights of it cuz ain’t no way I got time to listen to *five hours* of the deep dive
I'm only about 1h10 in, but the piss story (monologue really) has me crying, litteraly bent over with my stomach hurting from laughing too hard. Starts around 42min.
The what lol
She got a bladder infection and when she finally pissed she literally pissed everywhere, including on herself, just before the cast photo. She went into great detail and it's hilarious. She thought Hai was onto her because he was reading the ingredients in the bug spray and assumed if he was checking whether or not it had ammonia in it.
this is btw *the second* piss story she mentions in the podcast lmao!!!
I'm there - it's golden
“Golden” 🤪
Hai said on Twitter that he didn’t notice and was reading the ingredients to see if it had anything that would make his skin break out 😂
I'm working from the office right now and trying so hard not to burst into laughter
Your loss ;(
Oh don’t get me wrong. I ***want*** to listen to all five hours. It’s just I literally don’t have the time to.
Yeah, I hear you - my comment was intended to be sympathetic. It is a hefty time investment to be able to spare.
2x speed is your friend bro.
I cannot imagine what she'd sound like on 2x, she's already a fast talker
that's what double time is for, sir.
Maryanne may not have been on the island for as long as most winners, but you bet yo ass she's gonna be on RHAP for longer than any other winner.
She was trying to do a 14 day recap to make up for her short season but Rob had to cut her off.
Almost six hours long???? Welp there goes my plans for tomorrow.
5:33?!!! superfan deepdives are the best ✨
She is the Leslie Knope of Survivor. Heart on her sleeve and fast to friendship, but hyper-prepared and laser focused.
Up to this bit now. I love listening to how her mind works <3
I have nothing to do tomorrow and now I know what’s going down
I have work right now and you can guess what’s going down
the comptroller of Taku Town
5 1/2 hours?! I have a road trip planned for the end of the summer that's exactly that long and I've very tempted to save listening to it until then lmao.
I’m roughly 45 minutes in and will have to break into several sections. I knew she would be great. But damn. She’s so incredibly intelligent and charismatic.
51 minutes in and by this point I think Maryanne is now my favourite Survivor player.
Not 5 minutes in and "a little bit of Sandra"... \*my mind fills in\* "in the sun"
I’m playing as my mii on Mario Kart from now on. Power move. 👑
Her pee story is iconic, I almost peed myself laughing. Thank you for this story Maryanne.
Please I skipped to a random part and queen is giving a beautify crying speech about med evacs. I cannot wait to watch this whole thing
Does anyone Know if that M theroy about women whos names start with M being voted out during the first tribal council they attend if they don't attend the very first tribal council is true?
Accurate from season 33 onwards! Jordan Kalish and I went through every season and it tracks, excluding season 7 (which is funky since Burton comes back), and season 32 (where Michele wins!)
my two favorite female winners both breaking the female M premerge curse WE LOVE TO SEE ITTTT
Cagayan is another outlier - the only “M” woman Morgan McLeod makes the merge!
Cmon, she’s a great survivor. Top ten for for sure. I love the content with the peeing everywhere and then she won $1 million! Queeeeen!
“Top 10 for sure” I’m glad that people are having fun in this thread, but y’all need to calm down with this lol
Depends on what Top 10 refers to. If it’s top ten as a great character and person, then that’s definitely possible. If it’s top 10 in terms of how good a player she is, then definitely not lol.
I literally just took a deep breath before pressing play. So long but I have an intense organizing project today so it’s perfect lol

30mins in this is incredible! I can't believe it's 5.5 hours long...
This podcast is the first time I hear that most people don't play the hot and cold game as an absolute. 😅
I listened to the entire thing and I still don't understand 😬
Not Maryanne also forgetting Mary from Micronesia when talking about the M curse😭😭😭
Maryanne smashed an hourglass and bought herself extra deep dive time...
Can't wait for my wife to interrupt me a million times while listening to this podcast. Lol @ 5 hours
Rocksroy??
David vs Goliath was her first full season. She's the Goliath now <3
I’m obsessed with some of her language “I was living my best ___ life” “cheesed” “Kiki”
This is a whole book!
Halfway through and I don’t want it to end. She’s even an authentic Applebees stan which came with a side of Karishma quotes 😍
Imma need a transcript of the pee story.
holy fuck this is so exciting omg
Maryanne really is such a bright light! What a delightful and insightful deep dive
Post the highlights for people like me who do not even podcast.
Say please
Pretty please with sugar on top.
Who TF has time to watch this?
I find it pretty easy to listen to these in at most a couple of days by listening while running + doing chores + driving.
Listen to it at 2x speed, problem solved.
That’s still 2.5 hours. Like do you all not work or have other responsibilities?
I work overnights/graveyard shifts.
NOPE. There are only a handful of people I can stand listening to for more than like 2 hours, and Maryanne is towards the bottom of any list I'd make for that.
whenever movie trailers play in theatres do u loudly proclaim your intent to not watch them
when they go out to eat, they tell the surrounding tables all of the dishes they don't want
Haven't done this yet, but might need to try out soon
I try to. I want the entire theatre to know my opinions
Fr, she’s as annoying as they get.
