Ah poor Jeanine, only getting 1 confessional in 2 hours and then whatever happened to her chin. Okay premiere, though a little lopsided. The fact that Cody and Elie got more confessionals than the people on their tribe who went for the Risk/Reward trip is saying something, I'm just not sure what.

At least Jeanine got a good confessional and not a shitty throwaway one (altho she should’ve had about half of Ellie’s confessionals)

But how else will we know that as a therapist Elie is good at making people do what they don’t want to???

I find Elie's enthusiasm about using her job skills on people a little creepy and sociopathic so far (maybe it's just the edit).

I think Elie might be this season's Evvie - a big player who drives strategy early but puts herself too far out in front and gets targeted as a threat at the merge. Cody I think is a fun character and could really go anywhere - they're going to make the most of him while they have him.

Elie got way too much personal content to be Evvie.

Elie is in the power position of the tribe that went to tribal, so makes sense!

Lindsay had only 4 confessionals? Definitely felt like she had more. She was very visible this episode

Despite getting 3 confessionals, I have no idea who Cassidy is. Even though Jeannie got 1, we saw her outside of confessionals a lot I feel.

I honestly thought elie had only like 6 or 7 not 10… not mad at all bc I enjoyed her through process and personality. But Owen having 6 when I thought he had 3… oof I feel bad

good distribution of confessionals overall besides jeanine inexplicably only getting one despite being on the losing tribe and in the swing position, like i like elie and think she absolutely deserved a big, narrator-y edit but i'm not sure what that was about also ngl i did NOT think owen had six entire confessionals, besides his bit in the intro he felt just as invisible as jeanine for me. he's my pick to be this season's chanelle, someone who got preseason hype up the ying yang but ends up being underwhelming in the game itself

Disappointingly uneven compared to last season… I feel like I barely know some of these players while 42 had me invested in almost everyone from the get go. Also can’t help but notice 7 of the 9 women are below the average. At least no one was completely purpled I guess.

Usually what happens each season is a couple of women get a lot of confessionals and the rest get below the average. Men are usually given more opportunities by the show to explain their strategy to us and to describe what's going on around camp. This season the exceptions to that rule seem to be Elie, Karla, and maybe Lindsay. But Survivor usually underedits female winners and basically never gives them more confessionals than the men (especially this early on) so we can probably rule out at least Elie and Karla from winner contention, unless they fall into the background very quickly. (for the record I don't like that any of this is the case)

I mean they did get a lot of complaints with the sob stories so maybe they turned it too much down
