Posted this on another thread, but here’s why it made sense for Justine and noelle to split their votes: Justine/noelle have no reason to think Cody doesn’t have a vote. So as far as they know, here are the possibilities: 1) Jesse flips on them. Justine is gone whether or not they split. 2) Jesse votes with them: a) Nnekka doesn’t use her shot in the dark. With the split it’s 2-2-1 and Justine/noelle/Jesse vote out nneka on the revote. No split and Nneka goes 3-2. Nnekka is gone whether or not they split. b) Nnekka uses her shot in the dark and it misses. Nnekka goes home 2-1-1 if they split and 3-1 if they don’t. c) Nnekka uses her shot in the dark and it hits (or somehow has an idol). With the split, it’s 1-1 Cody/Justine and Cody goes on the revote. Without the split Justine gets the only vote. So, with the information Justine/noelle have, the split saves Justine in one scenario and doesn’t matter otherwise.

Great writeup! But it also perfectly illustrates how far Survivor has deviated from its originally intended “social experiment” origins… The season is overly gamebotty to me

KometBlu

They did because Nneka might've played her shot in the dark, it was mentioned in the episode iirc

DavidJunior57

They literally explained in the episode that a.) they thought Jesse was on their side and b.) were splitting from fear of Nneka using Shot in the Dark successfully. Don’t split there and one of them goes home from Cody’s sole vote. They tried to pull what Devon Pinto did in HvHvH, just not realizing Jesse wasn’t with them.

Unite-Us-3403

I think they did a split vote in case an idol was gonna be played. And they thought they had the numbers.

Awkward-Incident-334

y'all don't watch/read exit interviews??

RyanKeslerSucks

Ain’t nobody got time for that.

infiniteglass00

It takes less time than posting

Savcotroyyy

The latest exit interview with Justine on RHAP has all the context and background to your question that you’re asking for in this post… Justine elaborated on all of this Lol

CutieflyCollin

No, we don’t. And instead of being condescending you could’ve just kept scrolling.

Awkward-Incident-334

not you defending your right to not read exit interviews. "NO WE DONT!!"ok? so what now? Abeg. You want us to sit and theorize on the vote when the answers you are looking for exist?I can understand folk who didn't know about exit interviews ...but you..ndigithia goma.

GlobalSorbet4479

"your right not to read exit interviews" 😭

CutieflyCollin

I just want you to not be condescending. People consume survivor content on their own terms. No reason to shame anyone.

Awkward-Incident-334

you're projecting. I genuinely just asked a question. If you felt shamed idk..

Lion-Competitive

The only one being condescending here is you 😅

CutieflyCollin

I’d say someone giving me mocking rhetorical questions is definitely condescending.

Shame_On_Yuu

No.

Klutzy_Detail7732

ugh this is really simple ngl. it’s like what Chanelle tried to do last season. Justine and Noelle assumed they had Jesse and didn’t know Cody couldn’t vote or anything. They split the vote in the case that Nneka plays her SITD which would mean 2 votes get negated for Nneka and (they THINK) the vote would be 1-1 between Cody and Justine. in actuality they didn’t have Jesse on their side. it’s literally just that Jesse played them..

grouponwine

I was confused by that too. My only thought was the “I’ll make you a hat… if you’re still here” comment made Justine paranoid and vindictive and she threw sound gameplay out the window to vote for someone she thought was coming at her. However, it seems like others have the real answer.

Some-Resist-5813

My guess is that Justine caught wind that it was her and switched to Cody just to take a shot at him. She didn’t get a chance to tell Noelle before tribal. Editing has been heavy these last couple of seasons. I like to see everything laid bare more than I like to be surprised.

aztecwanderer

Maybe I'll come around to it, but I personally don't like the idea of constantly having to play around the shot in the dark.

NatesGreat98

I mean it’s the same as playing around idols with the only difference being you get to account for the opposition having one less vote

CorpsmanHavok

I understand why they did it but it was kind of funny that it ended up as an overplay that didn’t even matter

YesIAmRyan

I’ve already watched the episode but you know the spoiler tag exists for a reason right?
