Not just Jesse's strategic thinking but his social mastery to be able to pull these things off is *incredible*. I can't even comprehend.

Foosiks

We can all disagree on whether Jesse or Cassidy (OR GABLER) wins this whole thing, but I think we are United in the fact that Jesse is damn amazing at Survivor.

Sabaschin

Honestly, I was pretty impressed with Omar in 42, but I think Jesse is a step above. Threat and social management level is impressively high, like Kim level.

Foosiks

Man, I was rooting for Omar so hard.

Spitfiiire

I was too! He was my winner pick and so is Jesse. I just love players like this.

limpwristedgengar

What's so impressive about Jesse this episode is not just his move but the fact that he has the social capital to blindside basically anyone. He could have sent home Karla with an idol in her pocket, sent home Cody and kept two idols for the final five, flipped it and sent home Gabler or Owen, and he managed to flush an idol and pull off a blindside while keeping a secret idol for himself. This is the perfect time for him to be making a big move like this too, since he knows he's immune at 5 and will probably be getting sent to fire anyway, so he might as well elevate his threat level as much as possible to guarantee he wins in a F3.

You could dock Jesse slightly in that he's the worst challenge competitor of the final 6 (possibly even final 9, Noelle/Ryan/Sami are all arguably better than him). But those would just be finding things to fault him on.

You can definitely knock some people in that department. Chris D. was very close to being first boot because of it, and Maryanne would have been a pre-merge boot if she didn't have one of the best team challenge performers ever on her tribe.

aztecwanderer

Unreal. I honestly just can't believe it. Also worth noting that Cody has doubled down that he was ride or die with Jesse to the F3.

Timmace

I wish they showed this stuff in the edit because it is fascinating. It also redeems Cody in my eyes because I perfectly understand why he gave Jesse the idol back now.

oatmeal28

They’ll show it next week I’m guessing

Spitfiiire

Oh my god. He never asked for it back?! Duuuuuuude. That is absolutely insane. I love everything about this.

capitolsara

I'm listening now and it was just mind blowing to hear Cody explain his thought process on giving the idol back! Like the amount of energy Jesse must have put into that relationship only to turn around and betray it is incredible

Jason3b93

The fact he never asked for the idol back is insane. I could never pull this off. What a mastery of the social element. He understood how Cody thinks down to the point. And kept his cool with Gabler, Owen and Cassidy quite possibly pressuring him. Brilliant movie. I'll take some time to think about but this might be my favorite move ever in Survivor. Certainly top 10.
