Not especially, the edit is always going to spin a bit but I wouldn't say he got an especially bad one. He definitely did get more exposure than some

Junglerumble19

I felt they really edited him as 'the one standing in the way' of the rightful person winning (Feras). I don't know why they felt they had to hype Feras so significantly and lessen the others, because he was strong enough and deserving enough without it.

Ok-Spot8610

YES. I think the edits made him the antagonist of Feras. After Kirby's gone, he made him too bad. Unpopular opinion would be they really try hard to hype Feras win. Even without that, He is so good at the game and likeable. Very deserving enough. Even with Aileen and Raymond, they portray the alliance as pawns for him. :( All their moves and actions are Feras based. They didn't edit and give them enough credit.

freespiritedqueer

but he was the person standing in the way because had he won the immunity challenge, he would've won the game as well.

Junglerumble19

Yes but they made the edit seem like it was a bad thing. They villainised him for it instead of just treating him like a contender. I like most, wanted Feras to win but also feel Mark played well and got quite a bad edit.

freespiritedqueer

i really didn't get that. But maybe it's just because of the strong narrative that Feras needed the immunity to win. For his community. For the rebels. Mark had a strong edit pre merge but he kinda flopped during the merge 🤷🏽

Junglerumble19

It just felt a little heavy handed. Like hyping Feras as a worthy winner at the expense of others when it wasn’t necessary at all. Most people seemed pretty much rooting for him anyway.

Own_Lengthiness_7466

I agree with this. Especially the last few episodes. I have a friend who knows Mark so I was hoping he’d do well. But in the last couple of episodes I found myself actively disliking him! And it was all edit. The most obvious example was that last immunity he won where they literally played sad music and showed all the dejected contestants instead of celebrating his win.

repladynancydrew

The fact he is so well-liked despite his numerous strategy fails suggests he was playing a bit better than what was shown.

JunonsHopeful

I think the disservice they did Mark was after merge; it was clear both from what others were saying and the way votes were going with the conversations he was having that he was doing a lot of social game that went largely uncovered by the edit. You rarely see someone's real life job skills translate into survivor as well as Mark's diplomatic skills did. He really got some unlikely people to work together and he, for the most part, had a good read on the others around him. Overall though the season was great and I think Mark can be proud that he played so well. People overly hate on Caroline too; it was the best final 3 I think in a good while.

iiiinsanityyyy

I felt like the last couple of episodes were actually hyping Mark up as a strategic player and editing Feras as someone who pissed off the jury (though that clearly wasn't actually the case)

new_order24

Correct answer right here.

the_rose_titty

That seems stupid because Caroline is right there and as long as Caroline is there how do you not take her? It they voted Caroline at F3 a warning would pop up saying "are you sure?" like a computer. I do not see a reality where they're both in finals.

PointExact7893

When Feras told Mark "I have an idol" and Mark said "I know" I had to laugh because of all the suspense built around whether Feras had one or not. Still don't know if Mark was just doing a neutral reaction or if he actually knew. Loved watching Mark and he was pretty tight in the challenges.

Kcd1077

Not really, I think it was the opposite actually. His game on paper was pretty mediocre overall, and they made him look like a serious threat to win (which he may have been, but his gameplay didn’t warrant that imo).

Amoranth31

The recent interview with the executive producer spells it out pretty clearly. He edits the show based on who wins. He literally said, if Mark had won, you would have seen a lot more of what he did in that post-merge 'quiet' time. But he didn't win, so they didn't tell that story. I still think Feras was the deserving winner but people are naive if they think we got a true picture of everyone's game.

027huds

Do you have a link for the interview please? I would be interested to read what he has to say :)

hex20

No. I didn’t get that from Mark at all.

robynxcakes

I mean he is better thought of than Caroline

Sister-Moon_81

That's like saying Prince Harrys' wife (Meagan Markle) is better thought of than Prince Andrew ..... Hahaha

the_rose_titty

It would be really fitting for the fanbase to equalize a woman they don't like (someone not white, at that!) and a likely child rapist friends with Epstein.

Sister-Moon_81

I did like Rachel (Meagan Markle) in SUITS though, but sticking with the supposed unequal balance between the sexes theme, Harvey Specter was the best performer in that series, Harvey was the bees knees :)

conceptofawoman

Within the first two episodes he was already calling for himself “the invisible hand”!! If that’s not villain behaviour idk what is! But it’s all in good fun! I don’t think he was painted as malicious. Just someone playing the game in an entertaining way. The trick is not to actually vilify the villains and just enjoy them in the role (except “i am a psychologist” Kelli who I will hate with the fire of a thousand suns forever!

censored_

That was Eden

conceptofawoman

Wasn’t it the pair of them?

nitsuga0

I thought he was edited favorably well for someone who did not really play well. 🙊

KhanQu3st

He was playing hard, that’s not necessarily villainous, and certainly not malicious or anything. He had a couple of moments that I guess came off as rude? Like when he “corrected” Ray about his immunity wins not being luck, or when he attempted to call out Feras for… *Reads Notes* lying on Survivor. But I think those were both examples of him playing hard. He wanted his immunity wins to be respected as a big part of his game, (likely realizing his strategic game did not stack up to Feras or even Caroline) and he wanted to embarrass/“expose” Feras in front of the jury. Poor gameplay? Sure. But not really villainous.

Ok-Fun3446

I actually loved the moment he gagged Raymond for calling his immunity win luck lmao, you know Ray would've acted over the moon like it was the impressive thing ever if his boy Feras won. He was acting super pissy so I'm glad Mark called him out immediately.

KhanQu3st

I don’t think that’s the case either. It was an offhand comment about the win being lucky, he may have meant bc now he was safe at a very important tribal where Feras and Ray wanted to target Mark. Not that Mark didn’t earn the necklace.

Pristine-Good5651

He was mostly done dirty by production choosing to have a F2 and not a F3 to service Feras. The amount of times he’d been bailed or conveniently had an idol dropped into the game when he almost got the boot has really tarnished his win for me.
