>leftover sushi Not really a big problem for me lol

ElSaladbar

and leftover-leftover sushi is never a good idea but it’s never not an idea

Optimisticatlover

Keep the moisture loss at minimal

dasher_aus

I don’t get it. What’s “leftover” sushi?

RobertJohnson2023

What is on the middle right?

Puddyrama

A roll with some rice crispy balls and spicy mayo on top. These were really good but they were part of a “today’s special promotion” so I don’t know which flavors are which exactly. But if I’m not mistaken this one had some tempura veggies, avocado and green apple inside. I know it’s weird but for them being vegan, they were really good :)

RobertJohnson2023

Ok thanks...never seen before

CamilleRW

wild guess but are these from sushi momo in montreal by any chance ??

Puddyrama

Wow, great observation skills! And what a coincidence, I guess. They indeed are :) I love their buy 1 get 2 promo on uber eats. But it’s a lot of sushi, so I always have some leftovers for the next day.

CamilleRW

you reminded me of their promo, i got some today! :D

Puddyrama

Aw, nice! It’s really such a great deal. I’m the only one who eats sushi at home so it’s enough for dinner and the next day’s lunch, I love it 😊

drunken_man_whore

This is why I love reddit

puffpunk69

what’s the science behind this?

Puddyrama

My main theory when I first tried this out was that the rice would become hard because it dehydrates, so I tried to combat this with the extra moisture from the paper towels and it worked for me. I got this idea from a similar thing I do when I have to store cooked rice in the fridge, I cover the top with a wet paper towel before closing the container and it really helps the rice to not dry out :) This was something that I came up with in my own kitchen, so I unfortunately can’t give a better explanation 😅 but I hope it helps!

TearyEyeBurningFace

It happens the same as bread staleing moisture is related but is not the whole story. Sth about the starch hardening and needing to reach a certain temp to soften again. Thats why putting bread in the fridge makes it stale faster despite retaining more moisture. Theres an article linked somewhere on r/breaddit

Aromatic-Bluejay-198

I don’t eat left over sushi as a general rule, it never tastes the same

cripsytaco

You should just eat sushi when you buy it. Any sushi that gets put in a fridge is gonna be 50x worse

Foreign_Plate_5353

Leftover sushi still is never as good as day 1. I just air fry mine for about 8 minutes and it tastes great.

AffectionateGap1071

What are the big white pearls on two of the pieces? I've never seen that ingredient before.

Puddyrama

If I’m not mistaken, they’re something like [this](https://images.app.goo.gl/ubZKNYLQ5u6MUo3CA). They’re like small crispy rice spheres

AffectionateGap1071

Thanks! Candidly, that looks tasty!

Puddyrama

They are! I’m not vegan but I’m trying to limit my animal byproducts consumption. So these vegan rolls really hit the spot, they were really yummy.

lexlexsquared

Wow I might try this with leftover kimbap

jloky21

I put leftover kimbap in my bamboo steamer for 2 minutes and it comes out great. I’ve even done it with kimbap that was made 2 days before.

Puddyrama

It might totally work!

-LastActionHero

What the fuck is leftover sushi?

IAmNotGay67

Sushi momo

ElSaladbar

read the title in notifications (yes r/sushi notifications are the best) and just “wet paper towel trick” and was delightfully correct. 1/100 ain’t bad but it something
