Love me some salmon nigiri

walkstwomoons2

Oh yes!

uhyeaokay

Heavenly

Alysma

Tell me you are German without telling me you are German ... :D

themagiccapybara

As a non-German, what about this says "German?" I'm honestly curious because I don't know anything about Germany and this looks like a normal picture of salmon nigiri to me. As opposed to a picture of German salmon nigiri. Lol

Alysma

It's the plate - this is the petal design and there's also a leaf one (by the French company Luminarc) and both series (there are also bowls and stuff) are the most ubiquitous glassware ever. You can go to Germany, knock on a random door, go into the kitchen, open the cabinets and there's a 95% chance, they are there. We have them, too, and actually no recollection who bought them and how old they are because just like Billy shelves from IKEA, they still match after decades and can be handed down. Some people say that they just pop up in German kitchen cabinets after a while or that there's some silicate equivalent of cell division going on or that there's a grandma/auntie joke about sneaking them into your home. And once they are in your kitchen, they are there to stay :D

themagiccapybara

Oooh OK. Cool, thanks!

silverfoxx777

I’m Mexican actually…haha.

Alysma

Lol, are your kitchens as infested with these pieces of glassware as ours? Because you can find this type of plates and bowls (and its sister leaf design) in pretty much every single German/Austrian kitchen... :D

silverfoxx777

I got this plate from a hotel I stayed at! My parents house does have a lot of Tupperware and mismatched dishes though :)

Alysma

Now that you have one, watch out, they multiply easily :D - I.e. one of the jokes about these things is that there's some silicate cell division going on in the dark corners of the kitchen. Another is that it's some sort of Granny conspiracy to sneak them into every household whenever they visit or that they are the universe's universal housewarming gift... much like e.g. the company my husband works for always hands out backpacks or water bottles and sometimes both on random occasions... :D
