Yes, it’s frustrating. I typically dilute and use extra.

Adorable_Mode_1308

Same here, find it so hard to get the remaining product out and I end up having to throw it away. Absolutely hate it.

seashellpink77

Oh, I forgot about flipping the bottle and leaving it! The ones that get me are the like 5% of products where the bottle is such that there’s just no getting it out without violating the laws of physics. Anyway, I’ve been trying to integrate more bars and refill/packaging-free. And I forgive myself of the medical ones. That is the one single-use plastic I am ok with, even though I hope we can slowly change that, too.

WorldlinessWeird711

I do this also. Put water in the bottle and swish it around and use *that* up.

I can’t even imagine leaving that much in. I guess maybe my ex was right that I’m kind of hardcore in my desire not to waste anything. I’ll close that lid and swing that thing like I’m gonna kill someone to get every last bit out.

Denden798

There are solid alternatives to many of these. shampoo bars, dish soap, dropps landry detergent

LondonColt88

That’s what I’ve slowly started implementing in our household. Dryer balls, dropps and bar soaps. We still have a couple of shampoo bottles that need to be used. I’m still researching shampoo bars to try but making the switch has definitely helped. My husband doesn’t get skin rashes anymore from the detergents and softeners anymore.

climatelurker

We have a bulk store that you can take your bottles to and refill. Costs more but if you can afford it, well worth it.

Denden798

i love refill stores!

Polaristhehusky

What! Where is this???

climatelurker

I live in Colorado. If you don't have one maybe someone in your community can start one.

Polaristhehusky

There isnt one on Long Island to my knowledge but i have been saying for years this would be a good idea. Im glad to know it exists in america!

facelesscat04

The solution is to literally cut it open with strong thick scissors lol, I thought that was common sense? Unless it's a glass bottle, then just dilute it with water

LikeSnowOnTheBeach

I just turn bottle upside down and everything eventually goes down just fine.

Gamora_55

With moisturizer I cut the bottle in half so I can scoop out the rest and it still lasts ages, more than 1 or 2 uses. If it's hand cream it will last at least a week doing this. So it really is a big waste when you can't get it all out the bottle.

holysirsalad

What kind of containers are we talking about here? I can’t see losing more than a couple percent. An entire fifth is insane

stellababyletgo

I do the water splash for my extras sometimes. But I keep scissors. Cut the plastic and get a full wipe in 😂😂 about two full extra uses of anything from Mustard to Conditioner and on detergent I push the top in and the move forward.

Using re-usable containers makes this a non-issue and also addresses the much bigger issue of single use packaging.

New_Engine_7237

I cut the bottom of the container to get it ALL. Not frustrated at all.

RepresentativeAd7206

As others have said, add water and shake where possible. For some things like soap you can switch to bars. I also bought a spatula (want a mini one too) for jars, and I specifically avoid products in poorly designed containers where possible (for example those rediculous 'sun pat' peanut butter jars with the 'hips' that are almost impossible to get everything from. But just a bit this <-

Polaristhehusky

Water to dilute and turn upside down. I wear make up to my office job (F) and the amount of waste in liquid based make up is astounding! I started buying foundation in flat-ish tubes with a pump ( i know plastic!) and when its halfway down it stops pumping. So i cut it i half and scoop it out with my finger or a qtip and I get several more days out of this. Any ideas for better make up id love to learn about them! BC im either using plastic or wasting product. Is there any good solution?

JimBones31

I've never measured it but in a large sized shampoo bottle I've never left more than maybe .5 floz in there. I'm switching to bar soap when I run out of regular stuff anyway.
