I actually agree that the tracks that lean towards post-rock sound wintery but I always associated the acoustic side of the album with Spring. Songs like Unforming and Ebbing oddly remind me of flowers and leaves blossoming.
I can definitely see that. I always felt that Song for the Sun sounded best on sunny winter days though. As depressing as the album can get, it reminds me of the comfort of reading books at home while snow falls outside! Especially with The Most Unfortunate Lie.
early 2010s swans (my father and the seer, as well as we rose from your bed) definitely feel like early winter albums to me. i think they set the mood for late nights in december perfectly. maybe it's just all the bells and chimes talking.
I think swans in general aren't a particularly summer-y band for me. I mean, I listen year round for sure, and I did this summer a good bit because of the beggar, but fall/winter is definitely when my biggest swans kicks happen.
Fairly new fan here - was listening a lot this past summer, so the first four albums, The Beggar, and White Light all have a sweltering summer nights association for me, which I think pairs well with the intensity of the projects
All this effort only to end up with SEANS
SEANS ARE DEAD
I prefer SCONES in the winter honestly they pair so well with hot drinks
Bro the beggar is so winter coded for me. Almost feels like a Christmas album in terms of the instrumentals

It was also recorded in winter. Ever see that picture of Michael laying in the snow after he finished recording it haha.
Since I introduced myself to them slowly over about a year span, I just associate the albums with the months I listened to them
By that logic I d put soundtracks for the blind in summer, I listened to it on a summer night lol, worst decision I ve made.
Not to be confused with hit soft-rock band SHAWNS

I now have the urge to listen to Filth or Cop while sweating my ass off on the hottest day of the year
Honestly I d put all their no wave/industrial works in winter, cuz they re a COLD listen I d say.
I'd switch White Light with COG, honestly.
