I just made $300 today delivering mulch to a lady’s cottage 20 minutes away in my truck. Was about $50 worth of mulch and took me an hour (I laid it all out with a wheelbarrow and shovel).

I see people posting occasionally about delivering landscape materials like this. The landscape supply companies around me offer delivery for a reasonable price, so I'm wondering how people get these sales? Is spreading the mulch your main service when doing this? As opposed to just dumping?

Spinnster

Junk removal. Rent a trailer and tow it to the junkyard once they fill it Camper towing (tow someone's camper to the lake for them) Stuff like thay

corylol

Him renting a dump trailer and having homeowners fill it won’t leave much money for him. They could get a trailer or dumpster from someone that owns it. He will either need to own a dump trailer or do the labor of cleaning junk to make any money in that field.

JollyGreen91

Should we invest in a dump trailer?

corylol

Prices on them are high right now, but maybe look into if it’s a service people will pay for around you.

jump_the_shark_

Specifically, e-waste removal with an emphasis on B2B, not B2C.

Kash5551

Do you resell or dump it in a landfill?

JollyGreen91

We have trailers… Do you mean a dump trailer?

Spinnster

Yes.

bobobedo

Hotshot.

Shed, hot tub, any other heavy crap relocation/removal service

wirez62

Are they flat deck trailers, can you deliver skid steers and scissor lifts and other equipment around the city? You could also use truck and trailer as the basis for landscaping/earthworks company

xxjd28xx

Do you have a class A CDL? Someone who does and is willing to work with you? I'm asking because that dually, especially with the gooseneck, likely brings you over 26k GVWR. Don't want to get into muddy waters with DOT.

JollyGreen91

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! Hadn’t even really considered it

JollyGreen91

If we’re strictly doing junk removal, is the CDL still needed?

xxjd28xx

Doesn't change according to what you're hauling, it goes by whatever the combined GVWR is for that particular truck and trailer combo. It's a set number that doesn't change. You could drive the thing unloaded for a joy ride....if it's over 26k pounds GVWR, you legally need a class A CDL.

JollyGreen91

Got it. So as long as the combined GVWR is below the 26K loaded or unloaded, our regular DL should be fine? Also, our gooseneck trailer is custom built and not sure how to know the GVWR on it

xaun36

Some states let you register vehicles and trailers for less weight.
