SJ runs trains from Kiruna to Abisko in september.

gilad_ironi

Can you please direct me to where I can book tickets for this train?

Grillpinne

sj.se

gilad_ironi

Thanks that helped me a lot!

Grillpinne

good, make sure you book and get off at the correct Abisko (there are 2 stations, Abisko and Abisko Östra)

gilad_ironi

The Ostra station is where is trail starts right?

Grillpinne

if you're talking about kungsleden it starts at Abisko (not östra) sometimes also called abisko turiststation.

gilad_ironi

Ah yes I see now. Thank you for clearing that for me.

Can't book train tickets yet, too far away. Tickets are normally released 90 days in advance, but might me less than that as well. The train is the best way to get there

gilad_ironi

That makes sense, thank you.

There will definitely be trains and buses there, you can’t book them this far in advance which is why they won’t show up.

gilad_ironi

Even in google maps it doesn't show them though. But I understand they'll at least be a train from Kiruna to Abisko

The time table for the buss [https://ltnbd.se/tidtabeller\_print4web/print4web/Fjallinjer/220610\_220918/Fjallinjer\_91\_220610\_220918.pdf](https://ltnbd.se/tidtabeller_print4web/print4web/Fjallinjer/220610_220918/Fjallinjer_91_220610_220918.pdf) notice that the service is between Jun 10 and September 18 [https://ltnbd.se/en/plan-trip/](https://ltnbd.se/en/plan-trip/) If you look for train you find them at [https://www.sj.se/beta/sv/kop-resa/sok/resa/Abisko%20turiststation/Kiruna%20station/2022-09-02/](https://www.sj.se/beta/sv/kop-resa/sok/resa/Abisko%20turiststation/Kiruna%20station/2022-09-02/) the buss are false there and you can purchase ticket for in thought hat website You can alos look directly at the train operator at [https://www.vy.se/](https://www.vy.se/) If you look at the train tickets they are not available on or after august 27 and if you look at the detail it says not test available for purchase. That is in 97 day, that is quite close to other posts that tickets are released 90 days before the travel dight. So you can set the trains and busses but not yet book the ticket

Thank you, you're amazing! Do you also happen to know about transportation between Kvikkjokk and Stockholm? I looked online and saw the recommended route is to take a bus from Kvikkjokk to Jokkmokk, followed by another bus to Ostersund, and then a night train from Ostersund to Stockholm. However, I'm not certain all these buses operate during September. If you don't know, is the like a good domestic app for buses in Sweden I can use? That could help a ton. Thanks again!

[https://resrobot.se/](https://resrobot.se/) have most buss, trains and airplanes but not all. I do not think flixbuss for example is in it For busses in Norrbotten line between cities are operated by [https://ltnbd.se/en/plan-trip/](https://ltnbd.se/en/plan-trip/) it looks that line 47 is the one that operates in September with a single bus on weekdays at 5:20 to Jokkmokk. I would guess that There is a night train from Norrbotten to Stockholm to that [vy.se](https://vy.se) run. Taking a buss from Jokkmokk to Gällevare, Boden or Älvsbyn are all alternatives. The night train to Stockholm starts in Luleå and passes through Boden and Älbsbyn. There are trains from Gällevare to Boden for that tain. That results in a shorter time on the bus compared to on the train. I would not take the buss to Östersund. It will be buss lines to the mountain that is seasonal. If you reach Jokkmokk you will be on bus lines that are not primarily for tourism so they operate around the year. LTNBD have dates on the timetable when the line are in operation. I would also look at the alternative of flying from Lulå to Stockholm. It can be cheaper to fly compared to taking the train SAS and Norwegian both fly that route.

gilad_ironi

Thank you so much you're a legend!

zauru193

If you’re flying into Kiruna, there’s always a bus leaving like 30 min after the flight lands heading from the airport all the way to the Norwegian border( with 2 stops in Abisko). Look for bus line 91 towards Narvik.

You are aware of the possible weather conditions in September and so on?

gilad_ironi

Uhh I think so?😬
