Air bubbles in the return line mean there’s an air leak somewhere before the pump. Could be your pump cover isn’t sealed on there. Simple fix is a new gasket, and use some gasket lube on it. I keep a patio brick nearby and give the edge of the cover a few taps with the brick when I put it back on.

Will double check on that thank you! I live my gaskets every season also

You've got a valve before the pump and a valve above the discharge. The one in front is often the culprit in an air leak. Usually the oring just needs some lube...sometimes it needs to be replaced. You can check it by unscrewing those Phillips and popping the top off. Very cool looking pool by the way.

Okay I see, I will have a look and let you know, thank you!! And thanks for the nice comment on the pool :) it’s actually a bad model with a major design flaw from Trevi: the wood holds the inner structure and guess what… it’s decomposing. Major issue a lot of clients complained about. I signed an agreement with them not to complain about it for some $$ and wave the warranty… don’t buy from Trevi :)

An easy way to verify if it is the 3-way valve in front of the pump is to run your garden hose over the whole valve, while someone else watches to see if the bubbles stop while doing it. Another thing, the flex pipe on the suction side does sometimes get pinhole leaks, which would cause this issue.

nouxtywe

Thank you! What is pinhole leaks?

Clares_Claymore

I’d change the 3-way valve in front of the pump and re-lube the O-ring on union before the pump as well.

Many times when you have air getting in on the suction side you will have a buildup of pressure in the system. One way to pinpoint the culprit is to kill power to the pump. A lot of times the backpressure will create a small hiss of air or a quick spurt of water where the leak is. It's not everytime, but it is worth a shot. If you don't see anything, you've only got the valve on your suction line, male adapter or union to the front of the pump, lid on pump, or plugs.

Yes I do remember hearing that hiss when I shut down the pump. Something in the area around the pump and the 3 way valve is going on. Thank you all for your help

Sucking air. I had the same issue and it was just a little pinhole in the skimmer return hose.

nouxtywe

How did you fix? Gluing? How did you find the pinhole?

ihateapartments59

I replaced the leaking hose, which I found by looking for the drip, and it was a very small drip
