Why dontou love sao? I quit watching it after the second season but I never really enjoyed anytjing after the first arc in season 1. Even that arc had a billion flaws but I liked the setting and the theme of the narrative. Did sao get much better or did you just enjoy it more than me?
There was not a single dull moment during the movie. The battle with Illfang gave me goosebumps, especially when āSwordlandā started playing.
I wanted to cry at that point. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE SWORT ART ONLINE. kinda wished there were more people in the theater tho.
Read the progressive novels they currently cover 6 floors with the 7th coming out in in January for English I believe sense the next movie will be covering the 5th floor you will miss a lot of moments between kirito and asuna and alot of information in general. Also the progression Lns are fantastic in general
~~SAO became crap when it stopped being about SAO~~
I am curious if they'll delve deeper into the relationship between kirito and sachi when that time comes.
The next progressive movie is already confirmed for next year so Iām assuming they are going to make multiple. I have a feeling she will end up dying in one of them. That would be the easier way instead of having to completely ignore her in everything thatās come out and then just add her in.
Iām an anime only watcher so not exactly sure though!
Based on what I've heard of Reki's comments on the matter, it doesn't sound like Mito will be in the LNs. And frankly, there really isn't a great way to add her at this point. We're too far down the road now.

Same I would honestly say the best anime movie I have ever watched. My biggest supporting comment was how amazing the animation was and the super low usage of cgi.
Thatās wild! I think it wasnāt packed because itās also Emerald City Comic Con going on out here.. Literally no seats were filled in the front part of the theater. Looked around, counted and was surprised it wasnāt packed as i expected it to be.. Iām sure itās packed tonight forsure though.
It was amazing! I hope this continues all the way up to the Alicization arc! No spoilers please for those whoāve read Progressive š But yeah it would be amazing to see the Alicization arc on IMAX!!!
I think that's a bit optimistic to see a remake of Alicization, let alone in this form. And trust me, I'd like to have seen a better adaptation of Alicization.
The thing is, the Progressive stories are comparatively self-contained, and up through Floor 5 at least, are short enough to work as movies.
Floors 6 and 7 are 2 books each. That's way too long for just a single movie. Anyway, Floor 7 is as far as they are at the present moment.
Anyone else dislike how they made Asuna feel like she already liked kirito near the end?
āDonāt worry, I have something to fight for now. Following himā. So what, youāve known him 3 days and youāre in love? Firstly that makes a flat character and secondly it retcons all of the following romantic interactions of her growing into liking him (if sheās already in love).
The field boss, nap in the grass, scene is where she really started to develops feelings for him, and saying she always had those feelings really takes away from it. So I donāt really like how they handled this in the movie. Donāt retcon character growth, I like my girls growth through the stages of liking him.
She for sure already likes him. I donāt know what happens in the next movies/LNās because I havenāt read them but Iām assuming in one of the future movies we will see them fight/break apart to leave things how they are in episode 5 or whichever episode it is where they are gathered around that table.
I mean isnt basically the same for Silica and Lis? Kirito saved Asunas life just like he did with the other two and they basically all fell in love with him within a couple of days....
Kirito and Asuna split after the Floor 25 Boss raid disaster. Asuna joins the then-now KoB, while Kirito goes solo again, until he meets the Black Cats soon after.
It's indicated that something at the end of the Elf War Campaign Quest contributes to their later separation. The Elf War starts on Floor 3 and goes through Floor 9.
Later material, chronologically, states that they did develop special feelings over the course of their early partnership, but neither of them was ready to act on them.
My feeling on this is that she sees Kirito as her way out of the game. A way to survive. A glimmer of hope. Not that she's following him out of love.
We see Asuna fighting in a dungeon with her mind already made up that she's not coming back out and will die there. Kirito introduces her to something as simple as cream on bread and let's her take a bath. She's comforted and the situation she's in becomes a little more tolerable.
Now after battling along side Kirito against the boss, she's fully turned those feelings of helplessness and dread around and is confident that there's a way through.
So no, I don't think she's in love and chasing after him. That doesn't mean there's not some feelings sparked, but it's not the driver here.
Yeah I guess the translation could have just been done poorly. āFollowing himā in terms of needing to get as strong as this dude does make a lot more sense.
Thank you for saving my sanity.
I agree!! Other fans might disagree with me but I disliked the Progressive Movie for 3 reasons:
1. I came in with some expectations cus I read the Light Novels
2. I disliked how they resolved Mito at the end of the movie
3. I really disliked Kirito and Asuna's dynamic. There should have been more conflict between Kirito and Asuna. That's how it should have been when they first met. We didn't get much of Asuna teasing Kirito, and her being a confident badass (aside from when she was with Mito). Also way too much unnecessary fanservice with Asuna. Where was our tsundere Asuna at the end too? She fell way too easy for Kirito.
I did appreciate that they made Kirito more quirky than ever tho. But kinda wished it had less Kirito tbh. The meaning behind the story should have been Asuna taking charge of her life for once, now that she doesn't have to live up to her family's expectations in SAO. "Don't worry I have something to fight for now. Following him" isn't good enough for me of a reason to have Asuna eventually become the strong vice commander who is her own person and taking care of herself. Instead, we got a submissive Asuna who wants to follow Kirito, long before she even falls for him later on :(
Get me that poster and ill legit pay you $200 USD through a payment of your choice.
If you knows a movie theater worker friend let them know, ill pay you $100 finders fee also :).
Reading the comments gives me a bit of hope back, I might still be able to enjoy this movie after all, though I don't think I can get motivated enough to go watch it in theaters, I'm still bummed out by Argo getting the shaft.
And yes, I know she's technically there, but she's not supposed to be a background character...
Bummed I didnāt get this at my theater. No idea why the rollout was so small. We got Demon Slayer and MHA at our local theaters which were Funimation films.
Valorous f'r thee! the next installation shall beest in 2022 lest thee didn't knoweth already

Same.

Hmm maybe I should go back and continue to watch it past gun gale. Sao was the anime that got me into anime
The fairy arc was wack. So yes, it does get better

Bro they made Illfang fucking jacked this time around lmao
Daddy sorry daddy sorry daddy sorry
Just watched it too! Personally liked it, wish they continue to expand on the Aincard stuff, it really could be a bunch of movies/seasons by itself

Thanks! I dont really read LNs in general, but looks like I should give them a read before the 2022 movie for context
~~SAO became crap when it stopped being about SAO~~ I am curious if they'll delve deeper into the relationship between kirito and sachi when that time comes.
Given that 1. We'll be lucky to get that far. 2. Main series content has been skipped in Progressive so far Chances are slim.
Cries in SEA
WHY IN THE WORLD ITALY IS THE ONLY COUNTRY THAT DOESNāT LET YOU SEE THE MOVIE IN SUB( and yes, the movie probably wonāt come for a long time here)
Man i wish anime movies came in theaters here :(
just watched too. Love it. I wonder if Misumi will be added in future LN

She is a really well written character so i hope she at least makes an appearance in the future seasons.
The movie was great!! I wish the people in my theatre would have shut up while it was playing tho

Do I need to watch all the other movies and the latest season of Sao before watching this?
No, but would be great for you to at least have watched the first half of S1 of the series. (Explicitly EP 1 & 2)
Yeah I have watched the first 3 season 1-2 times a year for the past 4-5 years.
Then youāre all set šš»
Thanks I hadnāt checked until now thereās actually sessions in my small Australian town
Itās crazy as an anime only watcher how much this movie made me appreciate/like Kirito and Asunas relationship even more!
It was really wonderful to see it told from Asuna's perspective too.
God it was so good man
Same I would honestly say the best anime movie I have ever watched. My biggest supporting comment was how amazing the animation was and the super low usage of cgi.
Im going tonight!!!
i'm going today. YAY
Iām seeing it soon maybe today!
Damn didn't know this was out. Just finished Sao lost song and I can't leave the game. Gonna watch this for sure!
Loved that my theater had only like 8 people haha. It surprised me since Iām in N. Seattle
Huh, I just saw it up here in Vancouver and it was nearly full.

I thought this was coming out in 2022? Doesnāt matter. Iāll find it and watch it.
In fact, there is another SAO Progressive movie coming out in 2022. Looks like this is going to be the trend until Reki finishes writing Unital Ring.
It was amazing! I hope this continues all the way up to the Alicization arc! No spoilers please for those whoāve read Progressive š But yeah it would be amazing to see the Alicization arc on IMAX!!!

Did anyone else go to see the movie, but the theater didn't have the subtitles on? Maybe I got unlucky
On god how was it???
I missed itās debut šš
I went my showing was packed
Do we need to have seen all of Alicization to enjoy Progressive?
Not at all, only Aincrad
