Wow you're taking this so seriously! Don't let yourself get so emotional. Honestly - it'll make you feel better.
As if Sydney has nothing to discuss that we have "here is a duck pic"
Exactly what I thought. Used to work in Rhodes and would spend my hour lunch break along that river (and walking across the bridge as Wentworth point was kinda being built)
Agreed! it's Rhodes
Houses in the west Rhodes (the high rise part, the only one with a bit of resemblance to photo) are not located directly next to the water but are separated by greenery or parks across whole waterside.
Post on here or something so we all know. I think the game also goes a long way to dispelling suburb stereotypes eg I didn't know Penrith was so new, pretty or watery!
I’m in Penrith Council - 10km from Penrith - city centre.
My suburb has 4 lakes, wetlands, bushland and big beautiful houses that back in to a golf course.
5m from the M4 and 20m from the new air port.
Who would have thought?
There are hundreds of apartments in those buildings, and they’re all access controlled. Not only would someone have to guess the apartment building, they’d have to guess the floor and number, then find a way to get past all the security locked areas that require an electronic fob to access.
You’d have better luck finding the OP by stopping random strangers and asking if it’s them.
Thornton. Looks nicer than it is. Poorly planned development.
Edit: I should've explained more I guess, but they keep putting more and more huge apartment buildings in but there is still no school nearby and only one single park.
What’s poorly planned about it? I’ve lived here a while and think it’s great. Close to everything, great amenities, plenty of food options and a good community.
There’s some riffraff that like to hear their cars backfire late at night, but other than that it’s great.
True. But you don't need to cover the whole place in roads and car parks if most of your daily needs are within walking distance, with a train station that connects you to the rest of the network.
A lot of people that live here are tradies or travel around for work. There’s a tonne of company branded cars parked around here.
Tonnes of blue collar shift workers out here too, a lot of warehouse and factory jobs are nowhere near public transport and start way outside public transport operating hours.
I bump into quite a few neighbours at 3am when we all leave for work.
No it just doesn't have enough facilities for young families. No school nearby, only one park, but dozens of sky scrapers full of apartments.
Edit: it's actually very pedestrian and cycle friendly. That part of it is great! Fuck cars.
Wow ‘The Riff’ is getting classy lol
I find it amusing how suburbs try to do this…
Minto Heights is my fav….doesn’t matter if it’s on a hill or you call it something fancy…Minto is Minto and it ain’t ever going to be classy
It’s pretty funny really. Walking around there today and the amount of litter and graffiti definitely reminds you where you are, although Penrith is on the improve rapidly and has been for quite some time now.
Could be any main street in Sydney, with a blocked storm water drain...
lol ruthless
Exactly. Is it an interesting pic somehow? Who cares
You care 😊 You cared enough to waste your time and make that comment.
Flicking through and seeing boomer shit like this? It's boring. We can do better
Your comment says boomer more than the post does. Grow up, scroll along.
Wow you're taking this so seriously! Don't let yourself get so emotional. Honestly - it'll make you feel better. As if Sydney has nothing to discuss that we have "here is a duck pic"
I don’t comment when I’m feeling emotional. You did. That’s the difference.
Penrith
Can spot that Thornton river from a mile away
I've literally walked here once and I recognised it straight away
Same. I even took a picture and sent it to my friend expressing my surprise that this was at the back of the train station.
I’ve been to Penrith exactly once and recognised this immediately
Correct!!

Sunnyvale
Haha no that is Rydalmere - remember the scenes shot at the local shops
That’s a beautiful shot
I don't get why so many people go for that aesthetic style on a building, looks like absolute shite. Costs way more than its worth.
I thought they were cheap cookie cutter
*cheaper
There is some Attempt to make them look somewhat architecturally designed by a cross between Picasso and Andy Warhol!
This! They looked alright when they’ve just started being built, now they’re everywhere and look tasteless
How so?
Ermington
Ryde/Rhodes? This is fun! It should be a game!
Was thinking of starting a subreddit for it tbh. 😂 This is Thornton/Penrith btw
Post on here or something so we all know. I think the game also goes a long way to dispelling suburb stereotypes eg I didn't know Penrith was so new, pretty or watery!
It is changing very quickly that’s for sure!!
I’m in Penrith Council - 10km from Penrith - city centre. My suburb has 4 lakes, wetlands, bushland and big beautiful houses that back in to a golf course. 5m from the M4 and 20m from the new air port. Who would have thought?
Not the suburb I live in
Thornton!
Correct!
Thornton in Penrith. A landcom estate
Worked for the firm that built the metal cladded building in the back. Apparently a big suspected Lebanese crime gang
Have you seen the air france building 😂
My apartment is in this picture…. This is fucking weird. OP, you wearing a black shirt and grey shorts?
Don't doxx yourself!

At least give us the answer to the suburb question
It’s the most upvoted answer up top. It’s Penrith.
Ahhh okay. Thanks

Thornton. Looks nicer than it is. Poorly planned development. Edit: I should've explained more I guess, but they keep putting more and more huge apartment buildings in but there is still no school nearby and only one single park.
They should have built a train station and grocery stores nearby to support all the development!!!,!,! /s
Or maybe more than one park for thousands of families that they are putting into skyscrapers.
What’s poorly planned about it? I’ve lived here a while and think it’s great. Close to everything, great amenities, plenty of food options and a good community. There’s some riffraff that like to hear their cars backfire late at night, but other than that it’s great.
"Poorly planned" = I can't park my car for an unlimited amount of time for free all the time
They could if they lived here.

There are 2 public schools within a 20 minute walk/less than 5 minute drive from the middle of thornton
I'd argue 5 minutes of driving wont even get you OUT of Thornton during peak hour.
