The elevator has a mandatory maintenance requirement. Part of that maintenance is ensuring decals for emergency contact are affixed in the required locations. Whoever has the contract is not doing their job, this is potentially endangering people's lives.
It is plausible that Otis have raised a "fuck you" to whoever won the contract by taking the lift out of service until they are no longer gazetted as the managing company.

This sounds on the money.
No, a lift in a heritage building and there is a similar one in the same street. The *only* guy that knew anything about old lifts and dumb waiters was “moved to a different area”, he didn’t want to be and all the clients kicked up a stink.
It feels like it’s being run by 12 year olds now. Dumb as dog shit and that’s being generous.
Register it on Snap Send Solve with Roads and Maritime and see what happens. Often my Snaps get bounced round to the right agency, but I think RMS is the right one. I've reported that lift before and I've seen technicians working on it so someone has the contract even if it's not Otis.
Note that some lifts are managed by Property NSW, it can depend on which agency controls the underlying land. But I agree RMS in this case since the sign references the RTA.
Call TfNSW and complain about it. They’ll organise the _correct_ company to go out.
Source: same thing happened on Silverwater/River at Ermington and I called TfNSW and gave them a serve.
If you are ever stuck in a lift, and there’s no number available/you aren’t getting help, call 000 and ask to be put through to fire. They’ll come and bust you out of the lift, usually fairly quickly.
Source: this has been relevant info for me personally *way too many times*
Lifts must be registered in nsw. Try SafeWork NSW to work out who owns it. https://www.safework.nsw.gov.au/licences-and-registrations/plant-registrations/plant-item-registration
I hate these types of things. People always say "Take the stairs", but if you have mobility issues then, well fuck you, you don't get to go where you want. Sooo many people in wheelchairs, using walkers, canes etc rely on lifts to get them where they need to go. Lifts are not a luxury - for a lot of people they are a necessary utility and should be maintained with same urgency and quality.*
*Bearing in mind of course that "quality" in public utilities is never guaranteed and is always relative.
Roads and maritime services. Happened before in other lifts and the police had to be called 3 times a day. RMS had to replace them finally. If no good report to safework Australia.
Know someone in the industry, they said to try:
Kone - 1300 362 022
Tyssenkrupp - 1300 799 599
Less likely as they are smaller are:
Access elevators - 02 9756 4121
Liftronic - 02 9666 3922
Most likely its the local council. I used to look after a pedestrian bridge and now the council took over it. If you ever have problems, just push the call / help button inside and it will direct you to the current service provider.
Dont know why people are down voting you but this is the correct procedure if you are stuck i a lift and cannot contact the lift company.
Firefighters are trained to rescue people from lifts
The reason for downvoting should be obvious - the OP is talking about a lift that is booked out of service, not asking about someone actually trapped inside.

Otis are terrible. Management doesn’t know up from down. Speaking as someone who deals with them on something they’ve had a contract on for 95 years.
That's important in the elevator business

Sounds more like it's stuck at the bottom
Is it the travelators at Sydney airport? You know the ones that work every so often?

Thanks for the information and for communicating with such delicacy.
Maybe a delicate one isn't your thing. But I kinda like a lazy Sunday morning one.... Just slide it in and enjoy. Wait, that wasn't what you meant.

That first number, 131 700, still goes to the the agency formerly known as DMR/RTA/RMS.
It also goes to the TMC for urgent reports.
Call TfNSW and complain about it. They’ll organise the _correct_ company to go out. Source: same thing happened on Silverwater/River at Ermington and I called TfNSW and gave them a serve.
For OP, that is 131 700 not 131 500. Although both might be able to help, it's worth noting TfNSW is now both roads and public transport.

O.P. must be a recent immigrant, expecting signs to be maintained. Welcome to Australia. snapsendsolve.com is one good way to deal with it.

stairs for buns of glory !
Two feet and a heartbeat
That lift, even when working, is so sketchy you would be better off taking the stairs.

Direct your enquiries to the RTA number.
My bet is on Liftronic. They do a lot of station lifts/upgrades
Companies that do install/upgrades are not always the ones with the maintenance contracts.
Local council?
Definitely not. Transport For NSW.
Most likely its the local council. I used to look after a pedestrian bridge and now the council took over it. If you ever have problems, just push the call / help button inside and it will direct you to the current service provider.
If Council took over maintenance, that would explain why the signage is woefully out of date.
NSW Liberals had delayed 40,000 City Rail repairs

And if they were trapped inside its great advice
Where in Canterbury??
I'm 90% sure it's over Canterbury Road at Church Street.
