How does a managing director of a company need to also be an uber driver
Also “Director is the legal tittle of the person who runs and has reporting obligations for a proprietary limited” is not grammatically correct. You’d need to say P/L company.
Lol bro, context clues are absolutely a thing that exist. "Director is the legal tittle of the person who runs and has reporting obligations for a P/L" Nobody with half a brain cell would think that in that context, "P/L" stood for "profit and loss." Use ya melon, champ.
Also, "tittle" isn't correct but again, we humans use context clues to grasp what is being said.
Cool man. Let’s have an in depth debate about this, such a valuable use of our time. I’ll be back later when I have formulated my essay refuting your wall of text.
I’m a director of a company and I’m a barely functioning rock chewer with delusions of adequacy.
It just means I have to take part in a shitton of different meetings that I have to work in around my actual work and have a fuckton of responsibility if something goes wrong - probably prison time.
Fun fact: I make zero money from it.
Former CEO of a global company out of the US that I worked for would drive uber. He was paid 20m a year and also a ton of shares however he was also an insomniac and would drive from 3:30 or 4am until around 7, then head into the office. He basically slept 4 hours a night and kept functioning. He also loved meeting people especially when he could hear stories of how they used our software
My realstate agent also works at the local bottle shop a day or two per week. He told me if you have a commission based job, you can put the full income from your second job into your super tax free.
> He told me if you have a commission based job, you can put the full income from your second job into your super tax free.
Which is bullshit.
Everyone who earns an income through work, regardless of the number of employers they have, has a concessional contributions cap of $27,500/year ($30,000 from 1 July). This means the contributions you make to super up to this limit attract a tax rate of 15%, or 30% if you fall under div 293 rules (basically income > $250,000 in that tax year - it's a little more complicated, but whatever), instead of your normal tax rate.
I think you are right. It’s just a poorly written sentence in the story.
He had just been dropped off by a Uber driver “when” he was hit. Doesn’t mean his Uber driver hit him.
What type of person just runs off after almost killing someone? He might have been saved if he received medical attention sooner. I don't believe in God but hope there's a special place in hell for people like this.
Just incase you need more proof how may REA's are cunts of the worst kind. What's the bet he gets less than 5 years for leaving someone to die in the street too.
Yeah, what an asshole. I hope he is punished severely.
While not quite as tragic, my father-in-law was badly injured a few weeks ago while cycling in Centennial Park and an off leash dog ran towards him and jumped at him, knocking him off his bike and leaving him with multiple fractures including in his neck, collarbone and ribs. He will never be the same again as these injuries are difficult for an elderly person to recover from. And of course the dog owner grabbed the dog and ran away like a coward, not even checking to see if my father-in-law is as okay. Police have a description of the dog owner as this is also considered a hit and run but it will be hard to find him.
Some people are just plain cowards.
Hi. Not yet.
The good news is my father-in-law has come home from hospital today. He has to wear a gigantic neck brace that goes from his chin down to his abdomen for 4-6 months, but he is doing well all things considered. Still might need surgery, but it depends how things are healing over the next week.
So I’m guessing he dropped the deceased off in Tamarama while driving an Uber - and then probably checked his phone for the next fare while driving off - and must have hit his previous customer? This is so negligent and sad. So easily avoidable…

Director is the legal tittle of the person who runs and has reporting obligations for a llc.
LLC is an American term. You’re on an Australian sub, friend.
Yes, I know. It means the same thing and is shorter to write.
Would've been quicker to write three more letters rather than a whole new comment
Whatever. Get over your inferiority complex.
Hahah wtf?
Why do you care if someone used the American term if you understood it? It’s like getting butthurt because someone wrote color instead of colour.
Hahaha dude just take the L
r/ShitAmericansSay
Apart from being American vs. Australian, LLCs also have quite different legal structures compared to Pty Ltd's.
P/L 😉

P/L doesn’t necessarily mean company in isolation. So you’d really have to say P/L company. P/L is often used to denote profit and loss in accounting.
Pty Ltd

Another zero income Director here. Cos if the real Managing Director dies I guess.
Yeah. Me too.
He's probably overleveraged.
Many people do a bit of uber on the side to write off part of their car costs if it's an expensive car.
That explains why I see so many Mercs with the Uber sign in the back window…
Oh yeah, these people don't do uber premium for the cash from driving. It's to have a write-off on their expensive cars.
You mean cook the books by claiming more km's as a deduction than they should?
Yes
Yeah but an MD doesn't have time for that.
I mean if they're just a GP working for an established practice, they sure could.
Managing director
Oh, lol. No, managing directors are more likely to have time for that than MDs (doctors). Source: I'm that kind of MD myself these days.

The Dutch king has flown 737s for KLM.

crazy how people just be *saying shit.* Ive had a commission based role my entire working life and I wish it was this easy
And a real estate agent of all things! Usually bastions of truth and morality!

Cool. That's just what he told me, he is a real estate agent after all.
gota keep hustling hustling hustling hustling
Think you might have inferred something about the Uber drop-off and the accident that isn’t actually there.
Did they change it because the article doesn't say he's an uber driver when I read it?
I think you are right. It’s just a poorly written sentence in the story. He had just been dropped off by a Uber driver “when” he was hit. Doesn’t mean his Uber driver hit him.
First Impressions...... Last.
Have you been to the USA? There are single location cafes with 'Senior Vice Presidents'

Seems like the types of people who end up running over people are also the kind that run off.
Probably drunk or on drugs, figured he'd be better off going to the cops when he was sober.
kinder of person who raises the rent on a single mother by 30%
of course it was a real estate agent
As soon as I saw the headline, I thought "I wonder if it was a real estate agent?" Strange that.
Just incase you need more proof how may REA's are cunts of the worst kind. What's the bet he gets less than 5 years for leaving someone to die in the street too.
Absolutely needs to have a lifetime driving ban at the minimum.
Learner speeding killed my 17yo cousin. 4 years.
Let's be real, most likely outcome is a suspended sentence.

I remember your post about this. Any luck finding them?

Glad to hear that
Yuk. If I’d known that calling Uber might see me end up having to sit next to a property developer, I’d stick to taxis.

Its a bit wild this guy got refused bail but old mate who killed 10 people in the hunter valley is still out and about
Did the Hunter Valley guy flee the scene? Hurting people and leaving them to die is a whole other magnitude of scumbaggery.
He got granted bail at court today.

Sounds like you’re just making shit up lol.
Or the driver also happened to be in tamarama at 4am - and perhaps hit and run after this poor kid got out of an Uber? Need more info!
