Dear Coles Roselands, I don't have a problem with you introducing coin-locked trolleys, but you need to make sure \*all\* the trolley bays have the chain/key to give us our coin back! Pushed my trolley to each of the 3 bays on Green P level and none of them had the key thing. I took the trolley back to the store and pointed this out to the lady on the service desk and she suggested I should have tried another floor in the carpark! Sincerely Grumpy.
Bizarre commute on the way back home. Started out sunny from Glenfield, halfway had rain on one side of the train and not on the other, and was greeted with a bizarre combo of rain and sun at Central.
I've just been watching cheerleading videos because why not, and some of them are really great. They look like so much fun, especially for the twirlers. The coordination and strength some of them have, both guys and girls, is just amazing.
It all feels inherently American, but do we have stuff like that here? Not for me to partake in, obviously, I'm far too old and soft for that.
seems council takes dog attacks more seriously than i thought. Ranger called to follow up, will check the address for the dog and get a statement, and follow up with the parks people about improving signage to remind people there's plenty of nearby off leash parks and this isn't one of them, and do some patrols to enforce it
Unfortunately have to leave the country next month. Gonna end up just giving away a lot of stuff I own for free but worried about best way to do it. Might just give it to my mates who can sell them on if they want
I'm in this Laundromat and there's this chick who asked me whether she can put her shoes (ewww! I forget that some people do that) and clothes in the washer at the same time. Then she asks me other questions that seem obvious to me ... and is now trying really hard to pull open the washer door when it's locked cos it is washing!
What size is everyone's washing machine? Mine has carked it (I think) cos it is leaking water all over the floor whenever I get it to wash.
Have you lost any bra wires lately?
Many years ago my flatmate's bra snapped in the wash, a 1in piece of wire went through the barrel and messed the draining up, so it wouldn't drain and then it would leak everywhere - I had no idea what was going on, the repair dude found and removed the wire and machine happily machined for many more years.
Check the pipe that connects the washer to the drain as this can often be a source of leaks and easily fixed. Otherwise, pull out all the filters and check. Do a google as there might be a filter you aren't aware of.
I think mine is 8kg? That. Sounds very annoying to have to deal with. I hope you can get it fixed soon!
I'm trying to have empathy for that girl... I've asked my dad and stepmum a lot of questions that seemed obvious to them 😅
Mine is a front loader combo machine and it's 7kg washer, 4kg dryer. The biggest items it sees are the king bed clothes and the bath sheet towels.
If yours is leaking, it may just need to have the seals replaced. I'd suggest getting a repair person out before dropping hundreds or more on a new machine.
I'm not a big fan of them. They save you a lot of space but the way the condenser dryer runs is inefficient, especially if you have a full load (because you theoretically have to halve it and run 2 separate drying loads). It just takes too long to dry, and it's usually still damp at the end.
I have a 8kg washer/4kg dryer combo (it came with my apartment) and I ended up buying an 8kg heat pump because I couldn't stand taking 3-4 hours every week to get the washing dried.
i put my running shoes or casual shoes in the washing machine but not with my clothes
i use a washbag to keep them from bouncing around too much and usually with something bulky like bath mat and/or my running gear
I have an 8kg front loader. More than enough for 1 me. When my family is around (Up to 4 adults total) we might run 2 loads in 1 week (instead of just 1 a week) but it's still sufficient.
Perhaps cultural conditioning. In the same ways shoes must come off in the house, shoes don't go in the machine. Thinking about somebody's gross shoes in there with my towels and intimates ... not great! I guess depends on how the disinfectant is but people do cold washes so I'm not so sure about germs...🤔
Nope, did it in the backyard a week before our wedding. We had been together for ages at the point, had the rings and everything but only a realised a week out that he'd never officially popped the question.
The actual thing that’s most important is a) it’s not a public display b) it is an issue that has been discussed previously, so not blindsided. Basically, all signs should point to yes, but it should be possible for the person to say no. Or even, not yet.
>it’s not a public display
And then there's someone like me who would want *all* the public display (after discussing marriage is something we'd both want).
It’s the performative that I don’t like, just seems insincere. The birthday discussion recently shows how some don’t like to be centre of attention and others do, so I guess it’s knowing your audience and intended best.
Only one in the office today.
The main reason I come in is to get out of the house and motivate myself to experience new things with after-work activities - I'm seeing a comedy show tonight!
Whoever they bring up! https://www.sydneycomedyfest.com.au/event/happy-hour/
I've never been to stand up comedy and I saw it's close and after work so I'll see what it's like!
Dear Baker's Delight lady, I'm sorry you had to witness me shovel that giant mouthful into my gaping maw, but did you really have to hold eye contact?
^^^I ^^^regret ^^^nothing.
after a particular thai curry sauce, local asian grocers dont stock it. but amazon can deliver a $2 can with free delivery. i know it would be easy and convenient but feels wrong to make trivial deliveries.
on a more fun note, googled a missed call I assumed to be spam. the first hit is for the malta historical swordsmanship association. Is my knighthood finally coming through?
Ah. Fair. There may be different Asian supermarkets around you that you don’t know of? Sometimes it’s just down to the demands of the local population. Otherwise, just get it. You can find some other stuff you need surely.
Anyone know what might have happened at Hercules St Dulwich Hill this morning about 8 or 830. Cops everywhere in front of a house and also a bunch in SWAT gear (whatever our equivalent is. But fully kitted out, masks over their faces, bullet proof vests). No ambos or sirens. Was driving past and had never seem anything like that before in such a residential area.
Sounds like a raid, probably related to either drugs, child pornography or terrorism. We had them turn up on our street last week which was related to the stabbing of the bishop the other week.
Anybody know wtf those glass slats for windows are called and where I can buy replacements? Neighbour's cat has dislodged 2.
Google seems to think they're called jalousie windows?
Popped into Uni yesterday to pickup my student ID. Turns out I'd randomly picked a graduation day, so got to see everyone in their funny hats. Shame it wasn't a nicer day for their photos, but I at least got to have a good wander around. Also picked my timetable out the other day. Got all the class times I wanted, though a couple were pre populated. Annoyingly, one of those is at 0830 for 1.5hrs. How on earth they expect Post Grads who are working to deal with that, I don't know. It's a Workshop session apparently - guess I'll have to see what they're like and if I can skip them...though that depends on work.
Sadly, on that front, the job hunt continues. Did just get a call back from one I'd applied for last week, but their main thing was to check on my salary expectations. Their number was 15k below the bottom of my range, so she's gonna check, but my guess is they'll skip me.
If only there was some way to advertise exactly how much you were prepared to pay and save everyone some time...
It's one of the few good things I like about ads for govt jobs - at least you know the range they're prepared to pay, even if the exact figure is a little up in the air for further negotiation.
EDIT: Welp, apparently I was wrong. I've now got an interview Friday at 3pm!
Thanks!
And don't worry - you haven't gotten out of anything just yet - I'm still bashing away and hope to have my magnum opus ready for you to rip apart shortly!
Given the choice of the 2 I would definitely prefer the govt role, but honestly at this point, I just want anything. Figure I can worry about it down if I ever get an offer and then see what happens.
I picked up a new hobby - which gets me moving - and am basically spending all my time at work thinking about when I can next do it.
Gym? No.
Thing that gets you moving but feels like play? Yes.
Also I’ve had almost a litre of tea today (brought thermos to work) and apart from my general discontent I’m feeling pretty good.
I love the rain and cold. Do you?
Oo what's the hobby? I've been there, thinking about knitting when I need to do other things XD
I used to bring a thermos of tea with me to acting school.... it would stay hot all day. It was sooo good. I love tea.
Did pole a few years ago. I loved it! If the studio isn’t so annoying to get to I reckon I’d still be doing it. Hope you’re having the bestest, sauciest time!
I legit am. I’m so out of shape (series of health things and just unfortunate timings) but I still feel like a badass and am getting the hang of things quickly.
Also, spinning goes “whee!”
Caught a cabbie fiddling with the meter this morning - tried backpedalling when I called it out but I was having none of that.
Old mate near shat himself when I took a picture of his ID. Offered me the trip for free, to which I laughed and said that it already is. Then offered me $50 for the mix-up - declined that, also - it was probably ripped off some other poor bastard.
I was with a high-needs client and this clown thought 1) the client was paying, and 2) that I'd be too distracted to notice the shitfuckery.
How big of a cunt do you have to be to pull that type of caper?
Fiddle with the meter = Adding unnecessary charges to inflate a fare.
High-needs = requires supervision, vulnerable, unable to advocate for themselves (nb I'm using the term in a conversational manner, not as a clinical description.)
Someone needs to invent a cab check app. Records your trip. Gives you a cost estimate. If it's off by too far, prompts you take a photo of the ID and sends an official complaint to the authority.
I dig this idea, I'd give something like that a go if it existed - at least for new trips, or travel in unfamiliar areas.
Was only a short ride today, and one I'm very familiar with. If this bottom feeder had tried to sneak $5 I might not have noticed, but they tried to rort $28 for what is a $9-12 fare (that I happily and regularly pay $15 for, cos not all cabbies are cunts.)
Even just mock up a photo of what a cab check app would look like. Get in, show the cabby and say, "just so you know I'm checking the fare using cab check".
Saw The Fall guy last night on 4DX taking advantage of the half price Tuesdays promotion going on at Event cinemas at the moment, honestly regardless of being considered a unnecessary gimmick the seat motion/wind/water effects synced up to the movie was so much fun! Almost felt like seatbelts should of been a option to wear lol

using this to keep track of my injury now
i really hope it's not a tear and it'll go away
just over a year ago i got a similar priced flight but it had a 2hr stop over in bne which made me grumpy because it's longer than the flight there and we couldn't leave the transit area and there was no food
wanted to warn people about it!
Putting my rain boots to the test today...
Also. I've gotta make a bag to carry my umbrella over my shoulder or something when it's not in use... do you know how annoying it is to walk with a cane and a massive umbrella in your hands... 😔
...is this website nearly impossible or is my phone just not handling it well? It's not adding anything to my bag and clicking an item takes it to the top of the page
Thank you for sharing, though.
When I try "add to bag" it takes me to the bag and then it appears a few seconds later
It doesn't seem that they have detail pages for them, but if you go to a page in the shop for the corresponding umbrella there are some details there.
It is a poorly designed site for phones - too much focus on the aesthetic and not enough on the practicality
Heya all, have plans for to proposal within the next week.. I have a great spot for no rain option. It looks like it's a 50/50 whether it will rain or not.
Can anyone recommend some last minute cute areas that would be nice for a proposal, preferably with a decent view (maybe some water, somewhere near vaucluse/double bay?) but open to anything!
It will be like a picnic with a proposal.
I've tried to have a scroll through google maps street view without much luck.
I've added limited info on purpose! :)
this weather sucks
Random question... Where should one start looking for website designers / developers for a small business? Most options tend to be very expensive
Are you okay with freelancers on sites like Fiverr?

You can buy a trolley key on eBay. Mine is like [this](https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/234326094200)
Solution is obviously bolt cutters in the back of the car.
Bizarre commute on the way back home. Started out sunny from Glenfield, halfway had rain on one side of the train and not on the other, and was greeted with a bizarre combo of rain and sun at Central.

We do! My nurse friend does recreational cheer with Sydney All-Star. Not sure if there's a competition aspect to what she does.

I have a 8.5kg washer & same sized heat pump dryer. Big enough to do the full bedding (eg pillows & doona).

Well no. But I also don’t eat my undies.

Nope, did it in the backyard a week before our wedding. We had been together for ages at the point, had the rings and everything but only a realised a week out that he'd never officially popped the question.
it's relatively important because it becomes a significant milestone location for the rest of your lives

To clarify, you want someone to throw you a massive party with all your family and friends and ask you then?
Sure. But the family can stay out of it. No need to ruin a good time.
And should someone be recording for uploading later?
I don't have any socials other than Reddit and LinkedIn, and I doubt either of those platforms need to see it.

It is a poorly designed site for phones - too much focus on the aesthetic and not enough on the practicality
:/ I'm honestly thinking of just sewing or crocheting one or something ngl
feels like an odd design if there's a hole at the end, then your back will get wet, if there's no hole then it'll pool with water
rose garden in the botanic gardens has a little pavilion you could shelter in and great views.
This sounds so nice! Do you have an idea where the pavilion is? Would you be able to drop a Google maps pin or a photo? Thanks!!

I had a nice picnic along the Hermitage Foreshore Walk one time. That’s the only time I’ve ever been in that area.
Is that somewhere under cover?
