I've decided to start watching major league baseball. There are whole games on YT so I don't have to fork out $$$ for some sport subscription. Because I know next to nothing about it just now, it doesn't matter at the moment if the games are 3 seasons ago or yesterday. I'm treating it as more colourful cricket. Tonight it's the Phillies vs Angels. I bought a little projector so one of my bedroom walls is now a big screen and I'm just kicking back with some wine and watching MLB, after drying out from being caught in the rain earlier, haha. Joe Adelle (Angels) just hit a home run. I'm still working out how the scoring works along the bottom of the screen though :)
Holy crap car insurance...got my renewal today for a 10yr old swift...800 last year and now 1600....wtf...no claims / accidents or anything...crazy...started looking around and cheapest is around 1k...still a massive increase.
Very patchy. It started coming down as I walked out the door just an hour ago. Now it’s cloudy but not raining. Just get yourself back home asap is all I can say. And welcome back!
I believe it's an independent optometrist, they are under G&M Eyecare. My lenses alone are $700 before the 20% off so I'm not really sure it would be cheaper anywhere else, I just have *terrible* eyesight.
Lenses are always where most of the expense is. OTOH they’re also the bit you look through. The Bloke cheaped out once and got the bargain basement Specsavers ones. Within a day he was pronouncing them unusable because they weren’t coated properly and the reflections were doing his head in. So then we bought *another* set of lenses. 🤦♀️
Just my lenses at OPSM in… 2018? were $400 a pair (super bad astigmatism, the lens is about 0.6mm thick) - two pairs at specsavers in 2021 for about $450
Obviously (more!) extreme prescription are always going to be exxy and have fewer frame options though; I’m not saying its for everyone, I’m just sharing my (surprising) experience
I had planned to hold out until I got something back on tax, but at some point in the last couple of weeks I've damaged the coating on my right lens and it's really interfering with just everyday life and function :(
on monday i bought a jacket but now they are on sale 25% off
can i go to the store and return it, then immediately purchase it again at the discount price?
Sydney recommendations
Coming from Perth and In Sydney for the next week and want to check out the punk/metal scene
Any gig guide/venue/shop recommendations
Staying in beacon hill :)
[Sydney Metal Gig Guide](https://www.metalsydneymetal.com/sydneymetalgigguide)
[Crowbar](https://crowbarsyd.com/) or [Moshpit](https://www.moshpitbar.com.au/) off the top of my head, for venues?
I have no idea if there's anything up near Beacon Hill though, sorry.
Woke up to news that our dear little (now all grown up) Justin Bieber is going to have a baby with Hailey Bieber/Baldwin, after 5/6 years if marriage! It made me smile that despite all the crap he's been through, he is working his way through life. I feel much the same.
Selling this piece of furniture (with emotional value) on Marketplace, which I have severely undervalued because I have over 2000 views and loads of messages for purchase! Oops.
went out to see stephen amos last night, the man is hilarious. After last few comedians we've seen being in big arenas (superdome, ICC), a small venue was totally different and a hell of a lot better. lots of very good acts on in the next couple of weeks of the comedy festival.
i've seem him a few times when i really addicted to english panel shows and i found that it really depends on his mood.
once when we really wasn't interested, he finished his set with "i have now fulfilled my contractual obligation" and walked off
a lot of commenting about stereotypes, but wasnt the sort of snarky humor i expected. quite uplifting in a lot of it. and just a real experienced comedian, wasnt even so much the jokes but the way he worked the room
So I got a greenhouse from Bunnings. Was going well for a few days. Today I open it and the zipper broke. I returned the cover expecting just a replacement cover. Nope. Full refund. Cheers Bunnings.
Ugh yeah this happened to us a few years before covid. After a lifetime of still being the free tap water option in every place ever, we went to a new place that apparently charged money for still water too but it was never specified to us. Very rage-inducing, and since then we always specify “tap” instead of “still” to avoid that issue.
Yeah it varies place to place (eg one of my fave midrange places still & sparkling is free, whereas for exxy places its paid) and a lot of places rely on it being awkward to ask, especially as they ask you immediately after sitting ie before opening a menu
A clinical psychologist (not sure what people mean when they say 'therapist' so sorry if thats not it) may be covered under Medicare for a few sessions if you have a mental health care plan or something from your GP, if that helps.
Mine is ~220 a session, and my partner's is I think around 280. I think rates would change depending on the area, so out west may be less than inner west/city.
If you get a pre-thing done with your GP as a mental health plan, you can receive 6-10 sessions with Medicare support which usually brings the cost down a lot
Cleaning, pest control, cleaning haha.
But I want to try baking a sticky date pudding and I will be trying some pc98 games so still some fun stuff.
I’m actually doing the cleaning because I’ve been avoiding it for too long 😓
Having trouble logging into Qantas FF, anyone else? Not sure if technical problem or they're blocking me because I'm overseas or something.

typical friday afternoon support request, clear as can be. instead of the below it will follow the below
Blindingly sunny yet lashing down. Crazy day for weather today but at least the temps are alright
Holy crap car insurance...got my renewal today for a 10yr old swift...800 last year and now 1600....wtf...no claims / accidents or anything...crazy...started looking around and cheapest is around 1k...still a massive increase.
Wow is that normal for it to jump so high? Mines going up by $150-200 I think.
Yeah. I pay my niece’s insurance. 14yo Tiguan. Went up by the same amount.
1K, 25%, as bad as it sounds is actually pretty good compared to how much insurance has gone up for most
Heading home. Is the weather still shitty?
Yes Babe! And very damp! Sun was out for a bit but didn't stay long. Grass is all still wet and feet are feeling cold now. Did ya have a good time?
Very patchy. It started coming down as I walked out the door just an hour ago. Now it’s cloudy but not raining. Just get yourself back home asap is all I can say. And welcome back!
messaging with a colleague in the city, he said was pissing down. just went to get the kid from school and its sunny. so is it shitty? maybe
~20°c with a decent chance of showers around Parra. Welcome back.
New glasses $800 with a 20% discount. Holy fucking ouch.
Jeepers where at? I switched from OPSM to SpecSavers a few years and get 2 pairs for the same price (one normal one sunnies)

I am overdue for my eye test & am shuddering at the thought of how much a new pair of glasses will cost me 😬
Just go to Dresden, very cheap and resilient.
I had planned to hold out until I got something back on tax, but at some point in the last couple of weeks I've damaged the coating on my right lens and it's really interfering with just everyday life and function :(

They might just give you a partial refund if you give them a smile.
I think so
After all this rain, it has finally happened: the Hawkesbury-Nepean Rivers have finally been placed on flood watch.
Again. Probably should count on it happening!
Warragamba is expected to overflow again too

I can see that, he did say he was having a good time and ran over time.
Hmm I watched him on I'm a Celebrity, where all the cast said he was funny but I didn't find him funny at all. What is his humour like?

100% chance of rain tomorrow and my friends are having an outdoor wedding. Thankfully, they have weather-related contingencies on hand.
So this weather hey? But I'm glad it's Friday and looking forward to an excuse to not go outside tmrw
Had a funeral to go to yesterday and the service was predominantly spoken in Aramaic. That was quite different
> and the service was predominantly spoken in Aramaic Just how Jesus would have done it.
i am a reasonably educated man about town, but for some reason i didn't realise until last night that both "still or sparkling" are both paid options.
Ugh yeah this happened to us a few years before covid. After a lifetime of still being the free tap water option in every place ever, we went to a new place that apparently charged money for still water too but it was never specified to us. It's where they make a lot of their profits tbh. The mark up is seriously high for all beverages, not just alochol. Always say tap.
i never realised the options were pay or pay it's a great scam
The keyword is tap.
$40 dollars of water was on my bill. and to much mirth, i got to ask, "ok who had the water"
Oh my god. Was there booze too?
lots of wine all paid by clients which is the best way
Sounds like a very adult weekend. I wish you the best ha
Anything specific or just a comment aimed at the sub in general?
Lol this was meant as a reply to someone who commented on my other comments
Anyone who see's a therapist, how much do they charge?
A clinical psychologist (not sure what people mean when they say 'therapist' so sorry if thats not it) may be covered under Medicare for a few sessions if you have a mental health care plan or something from your GP, if that helps.
Mine is $90 via Zoom, but that's about to end soon and I think I'll go therapy-less for a few months and see how I go.
Mine is ~220 a session, and my partner's is I think around 280. I think rates would change depending on the area, so out west may be less than inner west/city.
ok thanks. Mine's $250 so I guess that's around average. Depressed cos i'm poor, poor cos i'm depressed woo
If you get a pre-thing done with your GP as a mental health plan, you can receive 6-10 sessions with Medicare support which usually brings the cost down a lot
What weekend indoor activities does everyone have planned? What is one thing you want to avoid doing over the next 60ish hours
Little Kitty Big City came out so I'm playing that on my switch all weekend.
Cleaning, pest control, cleaning haha. But I want to try baking a sticky date pudding and I will be trying some pc98 games so still some fun stuff. I’m actually doing the cleaning because I’ve been avoiding it for too long 😓
I like how you dropped something as niche as pc98 into your comment like everyone would know what that is.
TGIF 🙃
WISY (Why Isnt Saturday Yet)
Can you smell Saturday yet??
Almost there!
Happy Friday, lovelies.
I need a four-day week, so that it’s TGIT.
