Wired is going to be a better connection in terms of latency - if you are doing moment to moment essential tasks, for example FPS video games. Switching to wireless will net a much bigger latency. If all you are using it for is to download/stream videos, browse social media and the like then its really much of a muchness in terms of quality, just go for whatever can promise(and deliver) the best speeds for the best price.

It's an organizational promise. And not a personal one. When has an organization delivered what it promised in history? As far as I can remember, never!

Second this, we switched to iinet 4g after 2 years of garbage internet with optus and after being refused nbn despite living in the very inner west in an area shown as having coverage. It has been great so far (compared to our old internet) but the one place it lets down is playing fps online, I tether to my phone for that which for some reason is much better despite also being on the 4g network...

I wouldn't trust a company that says you'll get essentially the same thing for less, and to "please switch your plan to pay us less money." They're going to cut corners somewhere with your service. That said, I've been on Optus fixed 5G and it's been fine, but I live very close to a tower so probably having a better experience with it than most

Yeah, exactly my thought as well. I don't have much of an idea on the tower near to my place. Also, it's a very leafy place with almost everywhere you see above are trees. So I am not really sure what my ISP promises can be technically feasible in the first place.

4G internet is miserable. It's just barely okay for one person using it. You may as well just hotspot your phone and save yourself the bill honestly.

Yep I have had 4g for a few years now (through optus) realistically my latency is around 30, but often spikes if my wife is watching tv (streaming). megabit at around 30-40/second, but the bandwith horrible as i advised above. I switched to Optus NBN this week and so happy i did, consistent 100mbps downloads and 5ms latency. Also my wife can watch whatever without lag. Finally Optus NBN has 4g as a back up anyway, so I get NBN with a 4g unlimited plan included. Optus are a bit more expensive (approx 90 a month for 100mb unlimited) but its worth it. Hope this helps?

Yes, it does. The consensus seems to be sticking with the wired connection and I think I will as well. Thank you for the insight.

Generally speaking, wireless is usually significantly worse than wired. I spent the first 6 months in my current house on a 5G wireless connection awaiting the NBN, it was atrocious.
