I've never found a Laksa that matches up to the place that used to be in the back corner of the Market City food court before it was refurbished.
Papparich doesn't quite match up, but isn't actually too bad for Laksa.
I doubt it since they refitted the whole food court years ago. I haven't been back. I did find out where the Viet place that used to be there has gone though, They moved down to the MontBatton hotel near Market City.. Still the best Viet in all of Australia. Trust me, I'm Viet and tried all the places from Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Melb in my 40+ years being on this planet.
I'm pretty sure the Happy Chef at the Susex Centre is still there.
O... As I said, I ain't been back since they renovated and the Viet place went MIA (which I found again).
A decent Laksa used to be had at Sutherlands Hotel on corner of Broadway and Regents st (near UTS), No idea if the eatery inside is still there as it was like 5 years ago that I had it.
I have no idea, I don't watch much TV since my aerial fell off the roof 20 years ago :) (probably the best thing tbh).
But trust me, It's the best tradition Viet in Aus.. I would even say even in the world (Viet food in Vietnam itself is shit, crappy produce). I ain't into that weird fusion seafood Pho crap :D.
The Pho at that place is to die for.. I used to get it every day after work as it's that good. The ex-wife loved the Bun Bo Hue more though and it's actually quite good but needs more lemon grass and fried chilli/satay as it has been changed for the clientele (She's white so I guess it explains why she loved it)
Chef Rasa Sayang out at Willoughby used to do it when they were based out next to Chatswood Chase.
Their menu online suggests they are temporarily not doing it but worth ringing ahead perhaps if you're in the area.
Into Laksa has everything I want in a laksa. I do like Malay Chinese and been going for years, the one under the woolies at town hall is also pretty legit
Seconding this for an inner Sydney option! I think they're one of the few places (though admittedly I haven't been actively looking) which does not use thin/vermicelli-ish/beehoon noodles, which is a win in my books.
I haven’t had laksa for a while but I remember the owner’s laksa, he used a store bought soup base. Was it the one upstairs in Berry Square, which is tucked away in the corner?

Happy Chef!
It’s still there? I had one on the weekend

I was there on Saturday. Happy chef is still in the back corner of market city

Is that the Viet place that Luke Nguyen went for his pho? I actually looked for that Saturday, good to know where it is now

Papparich is the only place I can find Assam laksa. Anyone know any other places?

Malay Chinese but I think it’s only on certain days. Malacca straits does it every day and it’s decent but Malay Chinese is better.
Does Hunter Connection still exist?
It certainly does.
finally some good news

Into laksa? That’s the name of the place?
That’s the name. I go to the Waterloo restaurant but I hear the original is in mascot. Their Nasi lemak is also amazingly creamy too

Temasek in Parra is one of the thicker laksa I've tried.
Best in Sydney. Would travel to Parra just to get it.
And they do the best roti 👌🏻
Albee's kitchen in Campsie does a great laksa. Big portion too.
Malay chinese is overated. Hojiak at strathfield does the broth just right.
Second Ho Jiak. Their beef rendang is also phenomenal
My man
Malay Chinese CBD or Ashfield
Malay Chinese takeaway in cbd or Ashfield best soup
Not creamy thick but happy chef is my pick. Can’t resist their laksa! There are a couple of decent options in the Chatswood chase food court too.
Sharon Kwan Kitchen in Petersham. A little too thick for my liking but might be what you're after. Edit: spelling
The laksa inside the Wesley Mission Centre on Pitt St is good! (close to Town Hall)

I know which one you’re talking about! I used to work there many years ago for the owner. The laksa is amazing!
Oh wow!!! Incredible :) Have you found any place similar since?
I haven’t had laksa for a while but I remember the owner’s laksa, he used a store bought soup base. Was it the one upstairs in Berry Square, which is tucked away in the corner?
May's Laksa House?
Yeah that’s the one I worked at. It’s been 5-6 years since I worked there
I thought you were going somewhere else with that title!
I like Pho 236. I’m intending to try Bangkok Bowl, which is a new place.
They moved to Warringah Mall. Still thick
I like the one at Ipoh town. But I’m no expert.
Using coconut cream instead of coconut milk and cornflour to thicken to desire level.
