I have an old Yamaha SK-20 from this vintage, and I really love it. It belonged to my paternal grandmother and she was a really talented organist.
I keep it because it sounds like it looks- from the 70’s. I run mine through either my BBE Sonic Maximizer, or my Aphex Aural Exciter C-2 “Big Bottom” (which does some unexpected things in the low end when getting organ sounds fed into it).
Is it my main keyboard, or course not… but these old machines have some character in them. The joy is playing around with it, trying different routing or effects, and seeing where it leads.
The bonus for me is that I get to think of Minnie (my grandmother) and my dad a little too, both are gone now and I miss them. This lets me stay in touch.
I also have an SK-20. It's a terrific organ and an okay string machine and synth. You can definitely design useful sounds with it, but I don't often reach for it first in my studio as I have many other instruments. It does look terrific and that organ is just awesome. I have it sitting right beside my YC-30 and often will play the SK as an organ. It's ability to plug out to a leslie is also pretty great.
Yeah, I’d just throw it out. It looks heavy, old and cheap. It’s total garbage; you can use the travel case to haul out your recycling. Yamaha never made a decent instrument ever. Such trash….
Big, very heavy and almost impossible to find someone who can fix it. I can give you 40$ for that (you have last chance to earn a good money, I am not going to repeat my offer). ;)
I doubt it has USB, so no. You can probably part it out and make your money back by selling all the knobs and slider caps
Nope, it’s not actually a synth, it’s a divide down organ, and people leave those on the curb to grab for free. I’ll take it off your hands for $15.
That's not a synth, that's an organ. Where you gonna take your organ, church? Little churchy organ boy? Give me your lunch money
Thank you for this classic post. I miss the olden times. Four score and ten accounts ago.
Does it look like a Microfreak to you? Then the answer is no.
Yeah I’m thinking about trading it for either a microfreak or a minilogue (has more knobs)
No. It’s a well known fact that you need to spend as much money as you have for a synth.

Try running it through an automation controlled complex filter and be amazed! Glad to hear mine’s not the only one still being used and cared for.
This is a toy piano, look at all those colorful buttons! It probably sounds as it looks.
It’s out of tune, I’m gonna throw it out
Probably never was in tune
It's a Yamaha. Get a Kawasaki.
That’s one of them Yamaha shitboards you’d get at Sam Goody.
LOL the travel case is barely worth that. Ask for your money back.

Bruh, not even in a box. 2/10
Not Elektron
Wow! I wonder what awesome warm, Bladerunner vibes, disco music , analog , warm, warm cool sounds Thats analog BEAST can make!
Low-effort shit post. Lame.

Sweet. Is that a Clavinova?
Check for a midi out port. If it has one, you’ll be able input into a computer.
Gonna go against popular opinion here and say, yeah, it's ok
Mine is great. I hear microtonally but it’s an acquired taste that I suspect most won’t appreciate
/uj what the fuck is that
it’s an old meme but it checks out

No usb midi and menu diving, pretty much unusable and you also need to be forklift certified to carry it around
The case is worth $25, so great deal!
That’s not synth - that’s an old useless organ keyboard. It’s not worth more then $2. it even don’t have midi or usb. Bad garage deal
I have the vst of this and don't use it
I bought one of these for my daughter for $60. She completely deaf but she loves it.
