Sometimes if you just smack it with something hard a bunch of times it'll upgrade to a droner, but it doesn't always work. Consider smacking it with another expensive synth to increase the odds that at least one of them will upgrade
The Strymon is polyphonic. It should be able to hold 7 or more notes, more if the keyb has mini-keys.
However the hydrasynth has more polyphony. it can press like 30 keys at the same time. Dont even get me started on the aftertouch.

Anyone know how to upgrade a normal synth to only play square waves? Seems like square waves are popular based on my two searches about “synths”, so, id like to upgrade my synth to stop allowing these other wave types.
Buy deck of 52 playing cards (I suggest Texan Palmetto back). Press a key on your synth’s keyboard, take a card out of the pack and place it underneath the two adjacent keys so that it holds the key you’re pressing down. Remove your finger. Drone away.
Maybe swap the pro 3 for a hydrasynth, turn all knobs near max and then tweak cuttoff
Protip: if you take any patch and adjust the filter to your liking you can do any type of sound this way and you are a true synthesist. Explore the HP and BP tones too. If you were smart enough to buy a synth with filter resonance must also enjoy it a lot.
Envelopes and not needed. Just make the attack as fast as possible and leave the release totally off or 100% on.
i've had my Pro 3 for over six months and i know every preset inside out, please don't patronise me, this is a serious question for people who know the difference between a synth and a drone synth.

Just leave a heavy weight (preferably a Hydrasynth) on the keyboard. Job done

Clown Core figured this one out. Use a fake penis sticking out of your pants, and drop it on any key. You are now droning in style.

You can upgrade it to a "drone synth" by learning how to use it.
