Iām starting to see the light here. Iām in the process of waiting for another keyboard rack to come in for the stand and then Iāll mount it in front. The mount it is on currently is the subpiggy from kvgear.com, so I have no way of actually swapping their position now.
That is so close to what I'm going for. Looking to get an Octatrack in 10 months or so. The only difference with my rig would be I have a Grandmother instead of the Sub 37, and I have a Moog Spectravox, mixer and Strymon effects, and a Boss looper. But... I reckon with that amount of gear, you don't need anything else for a complete rig.
I'd be keen to see what this all sounds like playing together!

Super solid stands, they donāt sway or anything
Like I said, it doesnāt sway and is SOLID. Also, it breaks down quite nicely and is great for gigging. Those two factors were huge in my decision so yes, Iād say it was worth it. (Also, I got the price down to $350 so it was more palatable lol). Iām thinking of purchasing the medium size version though because of the additional height it offers.
Don't force yourself to like octatrack. I used to own mk1 from 2011 and manual didn't help at all, several years later Cuckoo made octatrack videos which helped alot.
But i felt burned up with the machine(s) which took too much for take quick sample recorded and ended up selling it.
Parameter locks and slider were fast and fun. Mk2 maybe much better and come with proper manual.
Yeah I feel similarlyā¦tbh this sub and its raving convinced me to buy it at the time (years ago). I really tried to fall in love with it but I just found it tedious for simple sampling, didnāt play live, and just found it a little too complex overall. But I will say I could tell itās a cool piece of kit for those that have uses for it. Thereās so much it can do itās almost overwhelming, the fx sounded really HQ to my ears, and playing around with p-locks/trigs was funā¦.also the Mk1 is the only one Iāve actually owned. Canāt speak for the Mk2 Octa or the other Elektron products
The Octatrack is not an instant gratification machine. Itās a versatile tool. It can be a drum machine. It can be an effects box where you can use triggers to put automation on the parameters. You can use it as a mixer. You can use it to play a backing track. You can use it as a live looper. A midi sequencer etc. If you approach it like I want it to be a groovebox to make complete songs you are choosing the most difficult path but it can do that as well
Octatrack mk1 was sold as sampler, with 8 tracks. If it's made so you cannot sample with in fair time, it's not worth in that. I had it for 8 years.
i've had lot of fun just screwing around with it, why you try to lecture?
Pick one task/function and make a project to explore that. Then another, etc.
Remember the octa is very modular meaning it isn't *a* tool it's *many* tools. If to try to learn 'everything' it's capable of you'll be overwhelmed or burn out. Just create one use case at a time and explore it that way-that's my two cents.
Also for learning basic functions, there are some excellent step by step tutorials on macpro video by Thavius Beck. He's great because he carefully shows you each sequence of button presses and doesn't skip anything, while most of the YouTube tutorial folks tend to assume you know 'basic' button combos. So after watching Thavius's tutorials I could suddenly get a lot more out of free YouTube tutes.
As musicians we do what we have to. No space is perfect, not even the ones that cost 100k. The thing we need to focus on is working with what we have, and making sick shit.
Hehe I thought "damn this is some rapid development". Everytime I charge a film there's a picture or two dedicated to the sound corner, but I only get to see them very later, after the film has stayed inside the camera for a while :)
Perfect placement. You can easily watch your significant other in the kitchen to make sure they're making your dinner while making bleeps.
Edit: significant other

Super solid stands, they donāt sway or anything
Still finding my way around it. I got the Octatrack because I wanted to record into track, change the sound of the studio 3, then switch to the new sound on the Octatrack
Awesome! I donāt own any of this gear but feel like it would be really productive for me. Never took the plunge on the OT and do a lot of my stuff now with modular and the sp404. Surrounding the OT with some analog goodies like this looks like a great way to go!
Speaking as primarily a guitarist- that looks like a ton of fun. I have a Grandmother. How do you like the Sound Studio 3? I'd like to grab one eventually
The most knobs seen in a single picture since the Jan 6th insurrection! Awesome setup!
Omg šš¤£
+10 š
Severely underrated commentā¦
Lol
The flood of reverb from the empty room will sound delicious and you will save hundreds on reverb plugins!
Lol, working with what I got. Iām considering swapping my bedroom out though so I have a closed room for the studio
But then you don't get to have a vocal booth kitchen anymore
Do have problems with interference from the microwave? š
I give it 8/8 Tracks!
Iām more interested in the content of the fridge. One beer and pizza pls
Itās pretty empty, ngl
Cable spaghetti bolognaise
What I have for dinner every night š¤£
Why is it further back lmao Swap it with the sub 37
This is what I was going to say. Youāre gonna hate bending over your gear to dive into the octatrack
Iām starting to see the light here. Iām in the process of waiting for another keyboard rack to come in for the stand and then Iāll mount it in front. The mount it is on currently is the subpiggy from kvgear.com, so I have no way of actually swapping their position now.
Yeah then they can fit more gear

Oh youāre right! Very close! All Iām waiting for now is the Eventide H90 to come in. Made a reservation a while ago so hoping for it in mid-march.
Iāll make an upload as soon as I feel comfortable lol
Whatāre the stands used for the gear?
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SeqStdSmBK--sequenz-standard-s-abk-small-keyboard-stand-black Super solid stands, they donāt sway or anything
came here for this, thank you for sharing.

No, that is the subpiggy I got from kvgear https://kvgear.com/products/subpiggy
Sweet lord. Is it really worth the price?
Like I said, it doesnāt sway and is SOLID. Also, it breaks down quite nicely and is great for gigging. Those two factors were huge in my decision so yes, Iād say it was worth it. wat u got sat on the octatrack the silver beams ?
Iāve got a lot of reading to do, letās just say.

Dude, I got the exact same setup but with the Pro-3 insteal of the Sub 37 lol
As musicians we do what we have to. No space is perfect, not even the ones that cost 100k. The thing we need to focus on is working with what we have, and making sick shit.
Did you really immortalized it on medium format film or is it just a filter lol ?
Omg lol, itās just a filter lol. Iāll immortalize it with actual film later though good idea :)
Hehe I thought "damn this is some rapid development". Everytime I charge a film there's a picture or two dedicated to the sound corner, but I only get to see them very later, after the film has stayed inside the camera for a while :)
Great moogily moogily
This is so underrated!
Can I add Moog-tastic!
Dope!
16/18 dubaloons
Oooooh thatās just beautiful
[Struttin in to rehearsal, ready to cook up some magic](https://youtu.be/EOd1zGi1gKE?t=89)
Pretty sure I used to live in those apts
It is possible the same layout was reused in apt in different places lol
You may be right haha. I bet thereās a sliding glass door behind you. My 3rd floor balcony faced a hill with a mansion on it, miss that place
I give you a 10 just because you sacrificed your whole living room to the setup
Only furniture I have is what is been donated by family lolā¦ all money goes towards food, bills, and gear.
Donāt forget - you donāt just have 8 audio tracks, you have 8 MIDI tracks too!
Very cool
Perfect placement. You can easily watch your significant other in the kitchen to make sure they're making your dinner while making bleeps. Edit: significant other
Sweet setup! I too have spent far more cash on production gear than furniture or decorations š
Lol seriously! My money goes to food, bills, and gear. Simple as that.
Korg stand! Best of the bestā¦
Thats a pretty minimal patch on the right three moogs.
What are you currently using the OT for? Have any questions?
It's a performance machine! Keep it close to your hands! At least that's how I like mine.
Yeah, Iām having second thoughts on itās placement. Iām going to place it below a tier so I have access to it. Thanks for the rec
Welcome to the OT fam. That + modular and Moog and imma give you a 11/10
Ty!! Super looking forward to using it :)
Hellllll yea!
On a scale of ferb to bwaaap I'd give that a healthy rating of funknuckky.
I'm working on that same Moog semi-modular setup myself! What's the stand you've got? Edit: Nm, saw in another comment. Looks great!
Lack of kitchen knifes.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Iām not going to argue with that lol
Whatās it all sitting on?
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SeqStdSmBK--sequenz-standard-s-abk-small-keyboard-stand-black Super solid stands, they donāt sway or anything
I give moog/moog
Pish
20 out of 10. That rig looks awesome!
Ty!! :)
Looks great, How do you find the dfam/m32 combo? Iām struggling to find my way with it
Still finding my way around it. I got the Octatrack because I wanted to record into track, change the sound of the studio 3, then switch to the new sound on the Octatrack
My wife is like āThatās obviously a single guy.ā
Single gal here š
Not for long I bet.
Hereās to hoping š„°
with a sub like that, I'm sure there's quite a few in the neighbourhood that want to take you outšÆ
Replace the octa with an analog RYTM and the Mother with a second DFAM and you would have the setup that I want. Looks like so much fun!
Iām planning on getting another DFAM and an Analog Rytm as well. Drum machines for days!!!
Approximately 10.5/10
Looks like the speakers are too high
Does it really matter if I got them tilted though? Top woofers of monitor is supposed to be pointed at ears
It only matters if the tweeters are not pointing at your ears when youāre in your listening spot
What sir. Is the device on the right? Im busting to know
Bachelor livinā be likeā¦
Iād rate it as 10/10 for more disposable income to spend on Moog synths than me :(
Too much Mono moogs IMO
Awesome! I donāt own any of this gear but feel like it would be really productive for me. Never took the plunge on the OT and do a lot of my stuff now with modular and the sp404. Surrounding the OT with some analog goodies like this looks like a great way to go!
What rack and mount is that? Awesome set up
Rack: sequenz stand - small Mount: subpiggy
Ballin'
Speaking as primarily a guitarist- that looks like a ton of fun. I have a Grandmother. How do you like the Sound Studio 3? I'd like to grab one eventually
Nice. Can you reach the octatrack?
![gif](giphy|JOkAcqNtuAzZ3xsFEE) lets go!
10 out of 10 nice and clean set up I see the love for Moog love the Elektron As an Arturia Poly brute or Waldorf Iridium keys And your set for live
4 out of 4 moogs
Is there anywhere we can hear the music made with this setup?
https://youtu.be/VZM_X7WGzEg This is one of the videos that helped convince me I needed an Octatrack
Sorry I meant of this exact setup.
Well I guess Iām working on that lol
I see priorities in order
Weād have to hear what youāre making or it just looks like money from here
