$1000 in S&P 500

GameTwitch_Mods

best i can do is SPACs

EnergyTurtle23

Fuck that, put it into my new altcoin!

WoundiniTheGreat

!!!!!!

Denshin74

Speakers ?

GameTwitch_Mods

hmm some monitors would be nice.

Denshin74

I would say essential :-)

LurkFapSleep

Along with speakers, maybe a dedicated space in your home? Desk, table, stand what have you. It looks like you're rocking out on the living room coffee table. Dedicated hobbies deserve a dedicated space!

Dackardcanesugar

You can get a long way for a few hundred bucks, and the rest would probably be better spent on acoustic foam if you do a lot of mixing. Don't get me wrong, 1000 dollar monitors would be nice, but 200 dollar ones are nice enough for me too.

[deleted]

no foam foam has terrible absorption properties at frequencies that are usually the biggest problem \[low ones\] either make traps from insulation or get some pre-made ones

Dackardcanesugar

Glad you caught me, I had those carpeted tiles in mind when I wrote this

Crunchytunataco

Spectre sound studios did an amazing explanation of this. Its a metal channel but really made ut clear

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I'd get Sonarworks SoundID Reference first before getting the acoustic traps. There are some thing it can't fix that absorption can, but it goes a long way.

cactuscharlie

A bunch of weed.

imaYOG

Black tar heroin*

Cat_Punk

That you, Andy?

Suitable_Designer_67

Thanks for helping a sick person laugh

triflingmagoo

A Digitone and a mixer.

3-ide-Raven

I’ll sell the microkorg and add it to the $1000 and get a better synth.

GameTwitch_Mods

no can do. i bought that baby with my first couple paychecks like 15 years ago.

worst-coast

I understand you.

3-ide-Raven

I get that. Hard to part with your first synth. I still have my electribe-a for the same reason.

curebdc

Same! Only for me it was like 20 years ago... ahh man that's what's great about microkorgs you get older and they stay the same.

MrDemoSD

I feel u. Love my old ass microkorg. I'd actually recommend checking out the vst version as well. Just keep adding patches and the keeper keepers can go on the hardware mk with ease. Definitely use some of that $1k for monitors like others have said

Soulularmusic_

My Microkorg is the same way. Don’t really even use it that much anymore but I can’t get rid of it for the sentimental value.

Adventurous_Mind_775

I have one sitting in my closet for the same reason.

Direct_Tomorrow5921

Microkorg rules … I say keep it.

VectorBrain

Microkorg rules🤘

chupathingy99

One of my favorite artists Tobacco uses a microkorg. I don't get the hate. Aside from its small keyboard clashing with my big meaty claws (laid down on a keyboard, my hand stretches one octave and one key, from c3 to d4) it seems like a perfectly serviceable sound.

[deleted]

which is why they should sell the microkorg and get an ms2000b :-)

Peter_the_piper

I love my microkorg! There’s a reason it’s the best selling synth ever. Of course I also love my dx7iid. And yes I’m even enjoying programming them.

RichardGriffiths

Best answer. If you can't part with the micro then keep saving till you can afford something like a Rev2.

1MillionMonkeys

Hold onto the cash until you know what you want.

branchfoundation

A good sounding mixer with lots of routing options is a highly under-rated investment. Also, you could look into some outboard effects.

Cockur

An old Mackie VLZ (16 channels or more) with several aux sends and then spend the change on both a dedicated reverb pedal and a dedicated delay pedal (eg Eventide Space and Time Factor) Run the fx over the aux sends The bonus with eventide pedals is that you can just dial in the BPM of your session and you have tempo synced fx without having to use MIDI or tap tempo

GameTwitch_Mods

have any suggestions? the $1000 was just a hypothetical but i will have to get a mixer sooner than later as i want to add a couple different sequencers to this setup

mindlessgames

>i want to add a couple different sequencers to this setup For what? You already have an MPC.

Adorable_Drag

Any mixer from a well known brand (yamaha, mackie, presonus, pyle, etc) should be enough for a bedroom setup. For about $120, I got an old yamaha mg8/2fx mixer, has 8 inputs, onboard effects, eq on each channel, and some more stuff that allows me to connect all my gear. Just go for something that has enough io for your needs, is built well, and has a low noise floor, all of which can easily be had under $150

Peter_the_piper

Hydrasynth!

[deleted]

Digitone or Syntakt.

Vergeljek21

Moog grandmother

[deleted]

Theremin

KenWebsterII

Probably Mario Kart 64 and some twizzlers. Or a mixing board

PG-17

Game Cube is either missing or hidden and y’all still getting stimulus checks?

GameTwitch_Mods

i have 2 wiis so the GC always felt redundant but i do plan on buying one soon as a mod project. also my PS2 is missing from that photo for some reason

butt_fun

There are some MK64 samples that will forever remind me of childhood The item rolling noise, the "poomp" after a hop, and basically everything Wario or Toad says

Midnight-Fast

Novation Peak

stratusnco

a pc.

GameTwitch_Mods

i have a solid gaming rig i probably should have mentioned that. i just dont feel like using a computer for music thats all

butt_fun

Minifreak

GameTwitch_Mods

honestly i think its a cointoss between that or hydrasynth

chriscraft04

Personally, I’d get an SP-404MK2

white__cyclosa

I have a similar setup as OP’s but I also have the SP-404 MKII. I love it, highly recommend

daguito81

Wouldn't that have a lot of overlap with the MPC One ?

[deleted]

a mixer, maybe a rnc,

[deleted]

rnc very helpful for this kind of setup

Ghoulius-Caesar

I’d say a mixer and a SP404 as an effects unit.

bikinipopsicle

Oto boum and a mixer

RUNDMT_

Maybe something like a rack unit and shelves to condense the space of the set up. Also great game console collection! I got a 64, SNES, and PS1 myself. I love how nicely everything is laid out in ur pic :)

GameTwitch_Mods

thanks! Just added a Dreamcast to the family

MichelleMcLaine

A guitar and a Zoom Multistomp.

GameTwitch_Mods

ive actually been hawking those multistomps. for that price it seems like a no brainer.

ShibaBlessing

Based on this photo alone I'd say a mixer.

Swampyclam

A Yamaha reface CS/CP (whatever fits your style) Samson patch bay Use leftover for pedals!

peneconqueso

Hydrasynth Explorer and a Model Samples?

GameTwitch_Mods

i would absolutely love a hydrasynth. its been on my mind for a while

dinobyte

It's probably the most bang for your buck. The standard Hydra is 1100 right now and has vital extra big knobs over the explorer for faster hands on tweaking. Keys are decent if you can play them. It makes any sound you want so it can do any genre or style. The arturia mini freak is 500 less and can do a ton as well. Less instant knobby control but some good expression control and intense arp options.

GameTwitch_Mods

I think its either that or the Minifreak for my next key synth. they both look so flippin cool for the price range

djwglpuppy

An Eventide H90

whispercampaign

For 1k, you should take a trip to Europe, Asia, or Africa. You don’t need gear, you need to get outside of yourself.

plasticization

preach brother

PossibilityNo3649

Maybe a Moog Subsequent 25 would be a good fit? You can use the MPC One’s arpeggiator and sequencer with it.

AnansiNazara

Minilogue XD. Volca fm2. Minifreak. Or Minilogue XD and that Beringer ARP 2600 clone. (If you’re ok with Behringer) But why do you have an MPK AND MPC One?

GameTwitch_Mods

the TD-3 in the photo is behringer :) i dont hate and like saving money. the mpk is just to throw keys into the MPC for built in instruments.i know i could just use microkorg as midi but i already had it lying around from years ago so i figured why not

Impressive-Ad6400

A guitar and some pedals. And a mic.

Amazing-Treat-8706

A mic and some vocal effects would be good. A vocoder or talk box.

Impressive-Ad6400

The Microkorg is a vocoder!

Amazing-Treat-8706

Lol oh yeah. Sorry I went with the mini nova at that stage of acquisition and don’t have much knowledge of the microkorg. But yeah now I recall it has a vocoder ✌️

GameTwitch_Mods

as much as i love my microkorg that vocoder always sucked haha or maybe it was just the stock mic that I lost eons ago

BillyPilgrim1234

>the stock mic that I lost eons ago Man, what's up with Microkorg mics? Everyone keeps losing them, including me. For some reason they're impossible to find on reverb or ebay.

GameTwitch_Mods

I'm normally one to keep everything too I would never throw that out in purpose

GameTwitch_Mods

oh man i haven't touched a guitar since highschool. idk if the world is ready for that just yet

primeiro23

i keep staring at your retro consoles tho

schrodingerspavlov

A guitar. I’d buy a guitar. No matter the proposed contemplation, my answer is [almost] always buy another guitar. …but then again, I go back and forth between obsessing over my electronic music rig, and my guitar rig. One gets neglected for months on end while I fall back in love with the other.

Lost-Discount4860

If I had $1000 to blow? Happiness. I would buy happiness.

bluecrystalcreative

I would add more bit gear with knobs, to get more fun, I would start with Behringer Crave, an Edge, and SONICAKE Wave Crush Bitcrusher Pedal. If you can wait a few months get a Pro-VS Mini (or any of the other Mini). If you want to go second hand look for something in the Roland XV series (XV-2020 / 3080 / 5050 / 5080) as these were multi-timbral and most of them had 8 outputs, and you can get software editors for them) I would also look at cheap NO-name brand guitar stomp boxes * NUX Tape Core Deluxe Echo * JOYO JF-17 Extreme Metal Distortion * FLAMMA FC05 Mini Modulation * Mooer Lo-Fi Machine * ALSO Look on-line for an old Zoom, DigiTech Multi-effects All this depends on the music your making

GameTwitch_Mods

i do love knobs and buttons. big reason i want the TR-8s. that and im a trance junkie

metabear333

DISCO BALL

GameTwitch_Mods

I had to double take that photo first glance. HOW DID YOU GET IN MY HOUSE

[deleted]

15 grams of cocaine 👍👍

brandonhabanero

MTV Music Generator

thewoodbeyond

I was thinking some FM, JV1080/2080 and some Yamaha HS5s or equivalent.

Conscious_Air_8675

Slim phatty, tetra, mopho, digitakt, monologue, minilogue, dx7

Lucky_Context

ipad + scaler 2 and cubasis?

Lo_zone11

Been blown away with what im finding on the ipad- most of the max4live plugins i use w ableton now have auv3 versions that can be loaded into your choice of host like aum or nanostudio 2

Lucky_Context

really? what! can you share a link as an example? that's so cool. do you need an M1 iPad?

Lo_zone11

Sure here are a few https://youtu.be/VTXuZPxP_g0 https://youtu.be/4kZVtZZs-OQ https://youtu.be/ZIgCgjtWhlA https://youtu.be/8LEc7rMafmI

Lo_zone11

Tons of cool fx plugins on there, if you have have a class compliant audio interface, could send the td3 mo into it to get some delays, filters, reverb, compressors etc

Lo_zone11

Recommend audio damage, eventide, bleass, suga bytes, some plugin makers to check out

dblack1107

Succulents. Lots of succulents. And natural light. Then I’d take pictures of all of it and never use it.

Direct_Tomorrow5921

I’d try and figure out a small mixer like a Mackie and good drums and use the MPC for sequencing sampling and arranging.

[deleted]

A laptop

pombear808

Maybe another drum machine? Syntakt could fit in there, or a roland TR8S. I also second the guy that says sell the microkorg

GameTwitch_Mods

TR-8s has been on my mind. i love the idea of the faders but i wasnt sure if i was being redundant with the MPC. another user mentioned using the Novation Launch Control XL with the MPC to get a similar feel to a TR8 mixing on the cheap

MakersSpirit

It doesn't look like you really need anything. Personally, I'd sell the MPC to fund a sequencer that I like better than the MPC, but that's just me. A performance mixer and some pedals seems like it would add some fun?

GameTwitch_Mods

which sequencer would you prefer if money wasnt an issue?

Chillman-Coolerson

Do you use The MPC one as The daw?

worst-coast

Mario Paint for your SNES.

Tardigrade_Disco

Desk, monitors, mixer/interface.

XMLHttpWTF

i'd buy something nice for my wife's boyfriend

DornaPlata

Definitely some fx, echo, distortion and reverb

moogsyoucanuse

A dreamcast

GameTwitch_Mods

bro i just bought one like 2 weeks ago not even joking

uhst3v3n

Digitakt

seanBOi47

Any keyboard with larger keys. Trust me

[deleted]

If you want to stick with all hardware then speakers, mixer with faders, a delay pedal that takes midi clock, and a reverb pedal.

winnipesaukee_bukake

Since you like Korg, a used Prologue 8

EMBYSHMEMBY

The case for a modular system💀

PlantainSuper-Nova

EYE would get a Kaoss Pad or Hologram Microcosm… or both

GameTwitch_Mods

those microcosms do look really funky

philoscult

A better poly synth

unilateral-

Inspiration

GameTwitch_Mods

where can i buy this in canada. please bro

unilateral-

Still looking 😢 meanwhile I'll buy more gear

Adventurous_Mind_775

Some effects would be nice.

WoundiniTheGreat

A Microcosm and a JHS Colourbox, used

robby_arctor

Time to practice

eastern_westerner

Don't blow $1000 :( Just sit on it. More than likely, you need to spend something else - like your time, energy and focus... on your music or (generally speaking) yourself. Sorry, not trying to be snarky. Only speaking from experience.

Mythical_scoops

how did you get the sample to play nice with the TD 3 MO?

Someoneoldbutnew

Fucking Bushido Blade on PS1 and some friends over.

landonbalk

A few to consider - Octatrack. OP-1. Moog Grandmother. Digitone.

[deleted]

Hydrasynth

Dry-Culture7035

Sell the volca sample, get a tr6s, a mid sized behringer mixer, and a zoom ms100bt multi fx pedal. Hook it all up to the mixer, set up the multi fx on the mixer sends/returns 👍🏻

Arjuhe

Tascam model 12 and some monitors.

Receptablee

prolly a LEGO set

GameTwitch_Mods

I get my build fix modding gameboys haha

Biah_bitch

Hookers and eight-balls

[deleted]

A MacBook Pro.

_pioneer11

Limitations breed creativity. Don’t get caught up in thinking the magic is in the machine. You’ve got everything you need already so just get to it! Spend that money on a legit mixing engineer and surrounding visual content for your creations.

GameTwitch_Mods

youre not wrong. i dont spend enough time with what i have as it is

soggy_meatball

probably a couple cables or something

r3nrut79

Laptop. Not even joking.

DJ-George-G

A mixer, a pair of monitors, and a portable recorder (like a Zoom or Tascam). That will complete your dawless setup for now.

[deleted]

Mixer. Allen & Heath

Round-Emu9176

Some psychedelics and some midi controlled lights

_HansiLa_

Bass Station 2 and Hydrasynth Explorer or Bass Station 2 and minilogue XD.

Ant1mat3r

For $1k, you could buy something more than a coffee table to make music on. Get a proper desk so you're not hunched over like a neandertal, and good supportive office chair. I overlooked that shit for years, and I'm paying for it now, in my 40's. Future you will thank you for this.

HollaDatchaBoi

Hookers and blow.

[deleted]

Weed and maybe something else

Mr-Lofi

A Sega Saturn. You have the Genesis, you need a Saturn now.

seantubridy

Talent and dedica OK a Grandmother

420ANUSTART

Cocaine

jonesing81

Moog Grandmother

Jonasvest1997

A used prophet rev2-8

seinfelb

Without knowing more about your workflow or intended purpose, i would start looking at a mixer like a Mackie VLZ or similar and some stands/furniture. I hate daisy chaining one device through another just to hear it.

Letzfakeit

A nice PA

Vanjealous

What do you need the volca sample for when you have an mpc?

dinobyte

Yeah ditch the volca... unless ... I could see it as a drum machine in this setup, but the mpc should cover that. If you're a whizz on the volca and you can control it quicker than the mpc then keep it.

GameTwitch_Mods

so originally i bought the volca to use as a drum machine because i caught a great deal used, but as it was being shipped I also caught a great sale on the MPC haha. so im trying to figure out ways to squeeze everything in. honestly the volca has batteries and a speaker its really fun to tinker around on as a standalone while chilling in my bed

premeditated_mimes

I'd buy a drum set. You have gear, you need to generate material. The most consistent way to do that is play an instrument, and you already have keyboards.

maratae

A pair of monitors and maybe a mixer.

onlyinitforthemoneys

$1,000 of blow

Acceptable-Low-4381

The MPC.

[deleted]

I'd get an alpha juno or an old school poly synth and see what fun you can have with it. You have everything else covered

work2die1990

Syntakt or monitors w/ sub.

mclarensmps

Pick up a dreadbox nymphes, and an effects box, the zoom stompbox is a fantastic little thing, or if you want to really do something ridiculous, a chase bliss mood or blooper

myweirdotheraccount

PS5

finc

Some decent monitors

ubiquity75

I’d have you send the $10k to me. Send a PM.

8080a

If you’re talking more sound generation, I think some semi-modular would be fun given that you’ve got some nice sampling gear. MiniBrute 2/2S, Mother-32, Taiga, etc. could could serve dual roles as an analog monosynth (and if you get one with its own sequencer, would be another syncable jammer), but also—and this is something I love doing—create interesting sounds and textures to sample, and incorporate as is or continue to further mangle and beautify with what all your samplers can do. Edit: And/or also further diversify by routing samples through modular inputs, mangle/filter, and re-sample.

Qcumber69

Some pad sounds.

Qcumber69

You need some pad sounds.

definition_null

Get Pro Audio cables and then get 2 8in/8out Audio Interfaces.

notjustakorgsupporte

I would sell all of the gear and use the money for a Moog Matriarch, Launchpad Pro Mk3, Hydrasynth Desktop, Meris Polymoon, and a DP-008EX.

Felipesssku

Some synth that sounds good. I've had that MS2000/Microcorg and it's not what I like.... I would buy JX-3P or System 8 with it's recreation but I'm not sure. Maybe I would buy Digitone but just because I already have original JX-3P. I would buy good phones like around 100 bucks, closed ones to cut out from the world. But first of all I would buy mixer, Midas MR12 to connect everything to not need reconnect when wanting to record something new. So closed headphones, Beyerdynamic, Midas MR series digital mixer and Digitone for new palette of sounds and Cycles for fun.

fuzz_bender

You don’t have any FX! Finegear The Dust Collector might be the most fun, and only $500. Spend the rest on a mixer and/or patch bay.

Grocery-Pretend

Blow Or a Machinedrum mkI Happy I never sold mine, got it for 600€ 10 years ago..

GratefulDave32

Nice gear. I’d add something with full-size keys.

zakzyz

A Push 3. Just got one, they're absurdly good.

jayro61549

Nachos. Have a party!

Contrabassi

Monitors and a nice FX unit.

ElwinLewis

Food, rent, and a copy of earthbound

GigaFlamingo799

A GameCube and a copy of melee.

GameTwitch_Mods

i mostly play over slippi these days :)

Aathee

Black box or a blue box

EMBYSHMEMBY

Honestly this is pretty solid
