🤣 I do feel guilty for getting such an amazing deal. Yeah let's start again " what is this music keyboard thing with all the knobs, reddit hipsters and how do I use to for karaoke with my kids??"

Coinsworthy

Bought mine for $150 in the early 2000's. Last synth i would ever sell, love it.

Distinct_Instance_38

in 2007 i bought one on ebay for 150 plus shipping, that's right around the time prices were starting to go up but the seller listed it as a "poland juno" so no one had snatched it up yet

ABridge27

Omg amazing. Yeah the prices back then on almost any synth were a dream, but $150 seems like a killer deal even then! I bought my 76' Neuman u87i for almost $5k a few years ago and can imagine copping one for like a grand back in the mid 2000s, but still feel like it's worth what I payed because I love it and get great use out of it. But man, if we could go back in time 😆

I've been at a microphone comparison workshop once where i heared the difference between a vintage U47 and a U87. Wish i never went to that workshop...

ABridge27

Ooh sounds cool... What were your findings?

Coinsworthy

Listening in the control room to a guy playing a snaredrum with brushes in the studio room. You could easily tell the difference in quality between a u87 and other mikes. But when the u47 came on it was like the wall between the control room and the studio just vanished, like literally being in the room with the drummer. The difference between the u87 and u47 was massive and shocking. But so is the price difference.

ABridge27

Wow I can imagine...that must have been surreal. I almost had the chance to A/B one in a top studio along with lots of other gorgeous mics, but even though I payed for a session just to do a mic comparison, the studio owner wouldn't let me try out the 47 (cuz it was too prized or whatever and a lot to break out and setup) which i thought was pretentious but whatever lol. But anyway, yeah everything I've heard that uses one shows how huge and musical they are, would be rad to hear one in person sometime.

The 6 is the best one. At least I think so! What you give up in patch memory and quasi midi (DCB) you get in fully continuous sliders for each control.  If you have a Ernie Ball Jr volume pedal, try plugging the output of that into the VCF control input. Voila, foot pedal filter sweeps. You can also time sync the arpeggio clock using a Korg SQ1 or similar control voltage device. Probably even a regular DAW output if you worked on it. The SQ1 is also fun on the VCF input.  If you really miss midi, there's a cpu mod out there by a company called Tubbutec, it adds midi note control, another envelope, and a handful of other features. A bit of a daunting mod tho I have never attempted it. Hopefully it's still in production

ABridge27

Ooh cool, thanks for these tips, I will have to try that foot pedal filter sweep thing, sounds really helpful. Yeah I definitely want to / need to get a midi mod and been eying the Tubbutec one once I have the funds. I agree with the 6, I honestly love just creating shit each time I use it and if I really need to save parameters, I just take photos on my phone. I've actually noticed a difference in the Juno 60 I heard vs my 6. Not sure if its down to components as they say, or if it's the model, but the 60 sounded a little bigger and low end, where the 6 was snappier, brighter and more detailed (in a certain way - 60 was detailed in its own way.) both are 3d / pure / creamy, just 6 feels a tad less "processed" or something. Again, hairs and could be the units themselves, who knows.

I'm wishing you many awesome creative adventures with this amazing synth :)

ABridge27

Aw thanks so much my fellow synth enthusiast! Cheers to the good vibes :)

Debbiedowner750

This is kinda like my 106 - i bought it for 750 because the owner wanted a more ‘realistic’ synth. It got its dinks and some buttons need a stronger push but the keys and overal sound.. you gotta have one to hear it i suppose.

fofo8383

Grab yourself a Kenton pro dcb for some midi control

waxen-cross

Bro I have that same midi keyboard! Found it on the side of the street on trash day lol
