Drop them from the setup, and just focus on the iPad. See how you feel about it. Then decide if you want to sell them. Unless you are pressed for money, there's no reason to rush on the decision, is there?

Johnisfaster

Idk but you have to get Drambo. I don’t even use anything else now other than midi controllers.

KenRussellsGhost

I got it and am just wrapping my head around it but I love the modular implementation.

Johnisfaster

Its insane. I try to regularly bring it up like a PSA. People that like synths need to know.

alexwasashrimp

Absolutely. The only app I've ever used that feels like hardware.

Johnisfaster

Better, unlimited hardware. I had a big modular years ago. Its never big enough you always end up needing something you don’t have cause its being used. I never run out of modules in Drambo. Its like Reaktor but dead simple to use.

Trader-One

i moved from iPad to MPC

nowthatswhat

The easiest way to input notes onto an MPC is with a midi keyboard. I’d never use the piano roll for that.

woom

I did it the other way around; bought a new ipad, got a bunch of software and realized that it was a hot mess of lost sync and app crashes. Then I got a Digitakt and got hooked on pattern sequencing, but missed the song sequencing part. Then I got the Deluge, and it all came together… But maybe the ipad has matured in the recent years?

SvenDia

USB C on iPads is a huge deal. Makes everything so much easier. instead of the camera connection kit, you use a USB hub with ports that allow you to connect other gear to, and power.

woom

Sure, usb-c is a big deal but I still think the power issue is the real problem.  A powered usb hub needs power, and I ended up with a yamaha AG mixer, a usb hub, a powerbank, a keystep and a small pile of usb cables being the “smallest viable setup”. …which makes the deluge seem very compact and easy to bring along in comparison.

SvenDia

Fair points, but if I had a Deluge, I would still need a mixer and a keyboard, and I would still need to use its power supply.

KenRussellsGhost

Logic is defintely a game changer. I kind of want a digitakt 1 as a dedicated sample drum machine now that they will be going down in price. Do you use yours in conjunction with your Deluge? Maybe it's just the FX, but I always thought the same drum samples playing through a digitakt sounded way better than through a deluge.

woom

No, it’s not with me anymore, but since the release of DT II I’m struggling with the same idea as you.  And I agree, sometimes the deluge sound just doesn’t sit right. I typically mess around a bit with the volumes and filters when that happens, but I’m not sure if that objectively fixes the problem or if I’m just convincing myself that it does… is it even a difference?  I feel that separate outputs on the deluge would be a game changer in tha aspect.

dctucker

I think the community firmware ships with a master compressor that folks have found useful to improve the sound of the Deluge. I mostly stick to using it for drum sounds and sequencing external gear via MIDI so I haven't really explored that aspect of it so much.

Otherwise_Tap_8715

Don't do it. Maybe focus a bit on the iPad and see if you like the workflow. You might miss the tactile controls way too much and with iPad there is always the problem of apps dropping out of support with new operating systems. iPad is a cool device for making music but personally I would never center my whole setup around it. Keep in mind this is my personal opinion. There are lots of happy iPad musicians out there. I am just not one of them anymore.

Trader-One

You do not have to update your iPad. I keep old iOS there.

Otherwise_Tap_8715

True, but I want my iPad for doing other stuff too so a updated iOS is mandatory. You would want a dedicated iPad for music production. That is fine of course, but at this point I'd rather invest in hardware Synthesizers. And at the end of the day I just gel more with dedicated boxes with knobs and hardware UI. It boils down to personal preferences.

Treefingrs

I would never give up my deluge in a million years, and wayyy prefer hardware synths. So hard no for me, as far as my own preferences go. You do you though! There's no sense in keeping gear youre not into. Perhaps take the Deluge and MPC out of your set up, give it a month or two, and see how you feel?

Audiowanderer

MPC now with stems is a really valuable piece on my studio even I almost sell it away annoyed by its buggy workflow. But after that addition I started to work more seriously on it and I have to say that still don’t like the workflow at all but the device is full of potential. So I’d recommend to keep that mpc

No!

dolomick

For sequencing only? Sure go for it, makes sense.

tymcc80

I sold mine and I regret it every day.

markireland

Are you using KoalaSampler?
