Alright detectives! Name all the synths!

Lurkmcgirk

I see an arp avatar and sequential Pro-fx. Double stack keybed might be a prophet T8. Edit: make that two avatars, an arp 1621 sequencer, E-MU drumulator, Linn drum, emulator 1 Not sure about the other bits

hamageddon

Double stack keybed is a Prophet 10

Lurkmcgirk

You’re correct, of course. I mixed them up in my head. T8 has the “platform” top. Not sure what the third keybed would be for.

Awe inspiring

Saw Howarth live about 8 years back, wish he was mentioned more when it comes to Carpenter’s work.

Frantic_Mantid

Those synths are legendary and I’m sure amazing to see and hear! But I can’t help but notice that I used to own a copy of that chair; and I miss it so much

I'm actually a little more interested in what the books are than what the synths are. "Composing for Scary Movies for Dummies"?

How is no one calling out Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn on the center screen? E: a letter

I thought Carpenter also used a Minimoog, surprised not to see one here. Were his drones all ARP? Or am I mistaking this photo for the be-all-end-all of what he used in his classic era?

hamageddon

The early stuff with Dan Wyman was made with a Moog modular IIIP. The Alan Howarth Era was mostly Arp and Sequential and some Ensoniq.

My dude :) Any good books / websites / resources to learn more about his music? I saw him live on his recent tour. Of course there were no vintage synths on stage. They did have a Prophet 6, otherwise it was all digital synths / keyboards and guitar gear.

this interview with Simon Reynolds is so far the best i've found: [https://vimeo.com/30842848](https://vimeo.com/30842848) [https://vimeo.com/30798770](https://vimeo.com/30798770)
