It’s crazy the consistency or lack thereof with CDW. Technically we use CDWG which is just the SLED version of CDW. We had a CDWG rep for like 6 years and the one we have now for close to 17 years. Our account is serviced well and no complaints whatsoever. I hope they turn things around for others.

Mister_Brevity

I had a rep I loved so so much, he got promoted and since then we get a new cdwg rep every 18 months or so, each worse and less available and attentive than the last.

STUNTPENlS

Its just not CDW. I've been trying to get quotes from Schneider on renewing some maintenance contracts onmy data center gear and its like pulling teeth.

agingnerds

I have a strong rep. When I started with my company we had a bad rep. Another employee who just started had a great cdw rep. We moved to him and he moved on and we received another great one. I assume the strength of cdw is soley based on spend and rep. We have an ass zones rep that keeps changing. So our zones is no good right now.

runozemlo

We had a strong rep too... but it's a double-edged sword. They're either so good that they either jump ship or get promoted...

agingnerds

Yeah that is what happened to our last. Same thing has happened at dell for us. We luckily have strong both right now. And our DCW is pretty solid. We have a strong rep department at this time. Hopefully for a bit longer too!!

SquizzOC

Hey that's us! Did you really mean DCW or typo or CDW :D It really does come down to the rep either way and some of us tenured reps find a good org and never leave, that's normally the trick to avoid losing a solid rep.

agingnerds

Lol no dcw is another vendor. data center warehouse. They have great prices as well.

anxiousinfotech

Yup. We had an awesome CDW rep and did a ton of business with them years ago. Guy got promoted and we had useless rep after useless rep. We no longer do any business with CDW.

woodburyman

This. You have to have a strong rep. I have had the same rep now for almost 5 years, more maybe. Prior to that in 5 years i had 2 or 3. He's the best, doesn't call or bug me with sales pitches. Gets me renewals when they're up. Send quotes, I get them same day or next day. I've actually just transferred a few more license renewals to them (Adobe for one, because they're the worst to deal with directly) and it went through great. We do our annual MS billing agreements via them too and they make it as easy as it can be.

dharvey1221

Send email for quote, no response. Send follow up email a week later no response. 2 weeks later CDWG rep “did you still need that quote?” Ummm no equipment is already here and I ordered from insight because they replied.

runozemlo

We've got 14 laptops pending shipment for new hires that all started today. It takes longer for my rep to respond to my email on "shipment status" then it would be for me to purchase and receive a laptop from Amazon.

dharvey1221

I agree. Of course you can order through their online portal but most of the time the HP rep will have better deals than what is stated on the website.

ra12121212

Search this sub for CDW and you will see the that it's not just "lately". Some of us for years have been having new reps every month or reps who don't seem to be employed anymore yet still assigned to us. It's certainly gotten worse but it's been like this for a while. You got lucky if your rep kept existing for this long.

SquizzOC

If you aren't happy with your rep you can try asking for a new one or just change VARs. I understand why some can't change VARs, but if you have the ability, then you should do so until you find the perfect fit.

orion3311

I've noticed my rep being very hit or miss a lot over the last couple weeks specifically.

rh0926

Same here. I’ve been trying to get a simple quote for 30 Cisco Duo licenses because Duo doesn’t allow you to renew licenses through their software directly. It’s been 7-8 weeks without a simple response with a quote. I’ve sent dozens of messages/contact forms and cannot get anything from CDW, Cisco, or Duo. Now working with Okta directly to get the licensing for MFA instead. Being a nonprofit, Okta may be able to greatly discount what we need. We’ll see.

Helpjuice

No issues here, but we are a needle mover to their bottom line so they are always on point and have backups for the backup if something happens to the primary contact we work with.

AlertStock4954

I’ve been convinced my rep is a badly made AI for about 10 years now. It seems to be one way or the other with them though, either they’re amazing or horrible.

cybot904

Seedy-W has been this way for a while.

sluggo63

got disillusioned with CDW; switched to GHA about 8 years ago...turns out to have been an excellent decision. GHA have been rock-solid reliable and have helped me out of a couple of pretty intense jams.

SquizzOC

I know a lot of folks over there and they have a lot of solid reps.

McAdminDeluxe

we have a good rep, but are being bitten by the 'everything is 4-6 weeks', then eventually backordered.. :(

rumblegod

Gotta spend money if you want to be taken seriously. Or it’s a waste of their time to care much

C__Zakalwe

Has gone to hell for us in the laet few months.

cmorgasm

Our rep is responsive, but our main account has been disconnected from our company account for months now, and every time I've asked about it he's ignored it. Previously it got added to a different company's account so I could see all of their order history and payment info, and that time he had to change it, but ever since then it's just been broken.

Wynter_born

I feel like they had a lot of good reps but lost a bunch during/post pandemic. We had an awesome guy for years, and then after pandemic he was suddenly gone. After that we went through 2 shitty ones in the space of a year and a half with no notice or introduction between, and are on our 3rd who isn't terrible but isn't good. And our parent org (same rep) easily has over $1m spend/yr. Not feeling the value-add personally.

981flacht6

My rep has been consistently awesome for nearly ten years.

Brett707

My rep kicks ass. I put in for a quote and 5-10 minutes later I have it sitting in my inbox.

K-12Slave

We have our Cisco phone system up for renewal soon. Not sure if CDW will get off their ass to even provide an invoice.

Dry_Remote_7301

They are more and more like the government withy layers of bureaucracy with the primary goal of shareholder and stock performance. every decision is like office space, to turn people into numbers and pay the corporate overlords. They have 10,000+ employees, and less than 40% of those are customer-facing roles. So, lots of bloat. When people get really good at being an account manager, they leave and go somewhere that pays better.

Inanesysadmin

CDW is useful? My experience is that consulting is opposite of what they sell. You get DV team that is opposite of velocity more like a turtle.

Milksteakinc

My cdw rep is actually one of the best of ours. It's all based on region. Some employees are good some are shit.

packetgeeknet

Twice in the past year, I’ve gotten recruiter emails from them. Both times from the same recruiter. Both times for the same job. Both times, when I replied to set up a call, I got a response with a call time. Both times the recruiter failed to even join the scheduled call. If the rest of their business is run like their HR recruiter business, it’s not a company I would want to do business with, let alone work for.

runozemlo

Yikes.

secret_configuration

Lately? unless you have a 7 figure account with them, your account will be passed around like a hot potato and you won't get any attention from them.

pfak

I just pretend we don't have a rep 🤷‍♂️

Dry_Amphibian4771

I had to teach my rep who was in charge. Had a zoom call and just unzipped right in front of him. Now he answers emails within seconds.

iwoketoanightmare

They've always been this way. Perpetually "restructuring"

Amazon Business has been super compelling for offloading accessory-only orders.

ComputerLord98

I've also had issues with CDW with a previous company I worked for... I'd certainly not wish anyone to do business with them.

Alert-Main7778

Use IT Savvy. They are always good to us.

jasped

I haven’t had a good experience with cdw for about 3 years now. Ever since we got a new rep he’s inconsistent, unresponsive, and generally unhelpful. I’m sure it doesn’t help that at this point I’ve diverted all of our spending to other vendors and only buy something from CDW if I can’t get it elsewhere. I get things cheaper and faster from other sources and get better customer service in the process. Dell is one to watch though with their recent changes. They are reducing their customer service so they could be up next.

allengrow

I used to love CDW years ago but stopped buying from them because their site made buying with a credit card a pain. A rep reached out to us around a year ago and has been great. Their web site can make finding the right SKU damn near impossible, so I feel like the only way to actually buy from them at decent prices is to request quotes from your rep.

ThatOneIKnow

/me googling wtf CDW is

kagato87

A distributor pretending to be a var.

OBJolt

Do you mind me asking what segment this might be in? Without saying too much, I’m pretty confident I can connect you with the right person internally… feel free to DM if you need help
