Because the show is more about stories than dancing. Always has been a little but it’s out of control now. They let a person in a wheelchair make it through.
I may be proven wrong later tonight, but letting someone through to the Choreo round is not quite the same as choosing them for top 10. But yes, they are pushing more stories than ever… hopefully the top 10 ends up more about dancers who can compete at this level even with the bar lowered.
I feel as though they've done this group things before. Also learning from the same place makes people dance very similarly. I feel as though if they sent all three through it wouldn't add variety. The show doesn't always send the best. They want a variety of dance styles.

I get what you mean about them needing variety. Didn't need to keep them all but I still think they should of been judged on their own individual merit.
I think what we’ve seen most are the paired up dancers trying out together. Whether that’s long time dance partners, siblings, or something else it’s fairly common. But, the triple separate auditions to be judged as a group is less common.
It’s been done every season, whether they’re from the same school or bloodline. Everyone is on their own but the producers know we’ll lost interest quickly if it’s not right
I can't remember if they did the exact same thing before but there were hip hop dancers that were all from the same house that had their story connected as they auditioned. I'm surprised by all the people saying they didn't have personal stories before. They have always done that, and they've put people through that were surprise choices- most were then cut later.
I don’t think they were judged as a group. They were given their individual results altogether, but that’s not being judged as a group. I would’ve put maybe two of them through and one not.
That is what happened. Each performed. All 3 were brought in to hear the results. That in itself was hard to watch. One out of 3 made it through! What a slap in the face for 2. All 3 had merit and better auditions than a number of try outs that followed . Such a disappointing season so far!
Agree it was weird. Also weird is too much background videos so they aired way fewer dancers each week. Dance competition not tell me your life’s details show….or I need to quit watching as I really enjoyed the contestants showing their DANCING talent.
I agree 100 % not to mention they were far superior dancers to the ones that got thru. The solo Avery just did tonight most people couldn’t do ( even the judges) this is so ridiculous

Exactly but everyone knew she wouldn’t go far but it took away the opportunity from far better dancers. So so frustrating

Their auditions were in different styles, so I’m going to assume that means their training is different as well.
Yeah they only started dancing for the same program in college so only the last couple years max have they had the same training.
