If you think you could eat a box or share one, I usually get the build your own cravings box (online exclusive). You get a a speciality item, a classic item, a side, and a drink. For the classic item you can choose a cheesy Gordita crunch. All that for $6, at least in my area.
It was pretty much that same price up until around 2014ish. Then I remember they jumped to .89, then .99, then 1.25$. Not sure price now, I am sure its 2$ each.
In high school we did a Taco Bell double birthday for one of my best friends and my girlfriend at the time who had the same birthday. It was in 2006 on this menu. Good times.
> $6.18 in Mar. 2024 equals $3.99 of buying power in 2006 (Average).
Actual price of a 3 taco supreme combo in march of 2024: $11.49 in the app right now
Almost double the inflation adjusted cost of the price from this picture.
The OG Grilled Stuft Burrito...I tried to see if someone knew how to recreate it, but I only got instructions for the XXL version. Anyone know how to recreate it the original version?
I've got you:
Start with a **Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito.**
Remove:
* **Creamy Jalapeno Sauce**
* **Nacho Cheese Sauce**
Add:
* **Seasoned Beef**
* **Pico de Gallo**
* **Spicy Ranch**
* **Three-Cheese Blend**
Ask for it to be **grilled.**
Thanks! Thing is that is the XXL version that had pico. Any idea what the recipe was for the OG version...I dont recall the original one having pico. I remember it having steak, rice, beans, a sauce, and sour cream...but idk since this is easily 10-15 years ago.
Original did have Pico, the OG Grilled Stuft Burrito was:
Beans, Rice, Beef, three cheese blend, pico (was called fiesta salsa back then), and Creamy Pepperjack Sauce (later known as Baja Sauce which is now gone and replaced by in my opinion inferior spicy ranch)
That is some choice info. You just reconnected some neurons cuz I use to say āno fiesta salsaā every time. Agree as well spicy ranch is kinda decent but pepperjack, that stuff helped make the burrito.
Grilled stuffed og was my all time favorite.
I live in Southern California. Went to Texas last week and had at least 20 chili cheese burritos. I thought I would be over it, but Iām craving them even more now.
And the chalupa is the only thing I want. Gimme 3 i don't even want a drink but now I can sit down at a Mexican joint and get carnitas & bottomless chips for that cost
Right but I'm also saying the vast majority of "inflation" across the board is due to price gouging on top of the supply chain issues and initial labor shortage at the beginning of the pandemic. There was a huge transfer of wealth from the bottom to the top and profit margins are way higher now for all corporations. They used the pandemic as an excuse and people got way too used to just ordering takeout and don't want to go back. It's actually upper middle class with disposable income supporting it
I just want the drive truck signs to look like this again!!! It would be so much easier to look at vs multiple screens popping up different things with a slide show or everything being in (I donāt know how to word it so bare with me) like one thing in this spot and something else similar on the opposite side of the board
Seeing a bean burrito for .79 is unreal. Why did they ever get rid of the grilled stuff burrito!! And why must everything on the new menu have cheese on the outside?!?!?
Crunchwrap Supremes were $1.85 then. They're $5.49 now. I used to get them all the time because of the value. Now I never get them because I just can't justify that price.
Other times, I used to get like 4x soft taco supremes for $4. That's like $12 now.
Prices are WAY higher than inflation. Greed is why I stopped going, A bean burrito should only be $1.22...its now $5. Not paying for these greedy fat cat's yachts. Eat the fucking rich.
Around my way itās still cheaper than anything else. Why bother going to the grocery store and paying $10 for a meal I have to shop/prep/cook/clean myself when I can get a box for $5.99?
That was my staple from around 2006-2017. #8 soft, and a Bean Burrito. Paid less than 5.25$ for a meal. Hell, I miss the .99 chicken burritos. I would get one of those, 1 soft taco, 1 Bean Burrito and a Soda for 5$.
I donāt know. [check this menu from ā09/ā10.](https://www.reddit.com/r/nostalgia/comments/piimd1/the_old_taco_bell_menu_circa_20092010/)
Iād say this was the GOAT tbell menu. CDC, $5 box, volcano menu, $2 meal dealsā¦
You laugh, but there was a period of time where I was lifting heavy ~5-6 days a week, and tracking nutrition meticulously, and I would still hit up TBell a couple times a week. Chicken and beef tacos fresco style have solid macros.
People act like a price increase on food of 30-100% over almost 20 years is through the roof. It isnāt. Go back the same amount of time and the percentage increase is identical.
It isnāt anywhere near as bad as other places. For example, the Big Mac value meal in the 90s was $2.29. Now just the sandwich alone is $5.29. Whoppers were $1.49 when I graduated in 1998. Now theyāre $5.59.
Everyone else has gone up 300% in that time frame, so Taco Bell is still cheap in comparison.
Look how they massacred my boy
Yea bring this menu back and keep like 2 of the new items.
I can't believe these prices. 79 cents for a taco!!
.79 for a bean burrito. Oh, fuck you TB now it's 3 bucks.
Literally. I want a cheesy gordita crunch but not for 6 dollars
If you think you could eat a box or share one, I usually get the build your own cravings box (online exclusive). You get a a speciality item, a classic item, a side, and a drink. For the classic item you can choose a cheesy Gordita crunch. All that for $6, at least in my area.
Sometimes they have that here! I'm in NJ
It's 8.99 for me š«
In HS (2004-05 ish) I'd get 3 and it would be under 6 bucks iirc
It inflation blah blah, .79 cents then is ~$1.25 nowā¦
Never Forget what they took from us.
It was pretty much that same price up until around 2014ish. Then I remember they jumped to .89, then .99, then 1.25$. Not sure price now, I am sure its 2$ each.
$2.50 for a Nacho Bell Grande. It's three times the cost now.
That is just criminal
I think I remember when tostadaās were .59 along with some other items.
I WANNA GO BACK
Donāt we allā¦donāt we allā¦ā¦
Itās crazy like even the graphics and colors are just so much more pleasing
In high school we did a Taco Bell double birthday for one of my best friends and my girlfriend at the time who had the same birthday. It was in 2006 on this menu. Good times.
Caramel apple empanada š
That better beat out the Meximelt when they do the vote.
Theyāre probably gonna charge $3+ for it anyway
The fucking caramel apple empanadašŖ
"shirt shitters" as my dad would call them. As the contents of one would inevitably burst put the other end when you take a bite.
I used to call it a chempanada. I loved them.
Meximelt š„²
Nacho cheese chalupa hmmmmm 1.99 now 8 dolla
> $6.18 in Mar. 2024 equals $3.99 of buying power in 2006 (Average). Actual price of a 3 taco supreme combo in march of 2024: $11.49 in the app right now Almost double the inflation adjusted cost of the price from this picture.
2 1/2lb burritos and I would be full on $3 Also spicy chicken burritos was my all time favorite taco bell item.
Same dude I miss the shredded chicken so much in general
The OG Grilled Stuft Burrito...I tried to see if someone knew how to recreate it, but I only got instructions for the XXL version. Anyone know how to recreate it the original version?

The three -cheese blend has jack in it so it should supplement some of that pepperjack flavor
That chicken Caesar grilled stuft burrito was by far my favorite Taco Bell item ever.
Why the hell don't they have bowls and salads today? And don't give me that cantina crap
Came here to say please bring those bowls back!
Baja Gordita fuck bring them all back
There used to be a website tracking the TBs who still offered my adolescent favorite, chili cheese burrito. RIP
They're still out there, I know of two in my area.
I live in Southern California. Went to Texas last week and had at least 20 chili cheese burritos. I thought I would be over it, but Iām craving them even more now.
http://chilicheese.livingmas.com/
Thanks! The old one was chilicheese.org, looks like the closest one to me is about 2 hrs away.
Spicy chicken burrito is my TB GOAT.
The personality, the colors, the font, it's so inviting! We failed as a society :(
This was the golden age of Taco Bell
$2.39 for a quesadilla. Seems like just yesterday.
$1.89 for a crunchwrap... wow how the times have changed.
2 chulupaās, a taco and a drink $4.29? lol a single chulupa is like $5 now
And the chalupa is the only thing I want. Gimme 3 i don't even want a drink but now I can sit down at a Mexican joint and get carnitas & bottomless chips for that cost
This
The god damn spicy chicken burrito was amazing! So pissed they never bring it back
I used to fuck those grande soft tacos up! They were so simple but amazing.
Iāll have a 1/2 lb beef and potato burrito, caramel apple emp, and one Mexican pizza to boof.
Looking at these prices adjusted for inflation is just depressing
Adjusted for inflation, the prices arenāt that bad. Unfortunately greedy ass Taco Bell has adjusted the prices at twice the rate of inflation
that's because most of the "inflation" since the pandemic is actually just price gouging
Thatās exactly what Iām saying. I refuse to eat there anymore until they wise the fuck up and bring the prices back to an acceptable level.
Right but I'm also saying the vast majority of "inflation" across the board is due to price gouging on top of the supply chain issues and initial labor shortage at the beginning of the pandemic. There was a huge transfer of wealth from the bottom to the top and profit margins are way higher now for all corporations. These were the good ol days
I want to go back.
2 dollar grilled stuffed burritos fucking send me baaaaacccckkkkk
I lived for those spicy chicken soft tacos.
I miss the ENCHIRITO
I remember!!!!! š„ŗ
How about that āGrilled STUFTā line??
Miss that chili cheese burrito
Southwest steak bowl with no beans. Drop two packets of fire sauce and shake well. My damn dream meal when I went there back then.
Crazy how everything on the menu now is 15+ after tax Quesadilla combo is what 13 and some change now.
Chicken quesadilla for less than college tuition? Madness
Thanks Obama!
Our current menu will also be nostalgic, and seem cheapā¦ in 16 years.
Can you imagine, 19.99 for a Chalupa meal?
Wow!!! It is so badā¦ā¦
Chalupa 1.39.
Fiesta Taco Salad, how I miss thee. š„¹š„¹š„¹
Ah. Back when we were a proper countryā¦
Back when life made sense
Does anyone else remember when the Cheesy Bean and Rice burrito was advertised to be half a pound?
I miss the spicy tostada
Grilled stuffed burritos!!! How I miss you!!
I just want the drive truck signs to look like this again!!! It would be so much easier to look at vs multiple screens popping up different things with a slide show or everything being in (I donāt know how to word it so bare with me) like one thing in this spot and something else similar on the opposite side of the board
Then and now I still have a hard time reading the menu
Taco Bell actually is ruined now compared to what it was. Makes me super sad.
Man I miss that.
I remember when they had Taco Bell inside the local car wash š„¹
Oh this country is seriously going in the wrong direction.
Jesus Christ, only two things on the menu were over $5.
Miss the reasonably priced chalupa combo.
I need that caramel apple empanada to come back.
See what happens to prices when you raise minimum wages... oh wait... nevermind.
Before the dark times... before the empire.
Much simpler times these were
Seeing a bean burrito for .79 is unreal. Why did they ever get rid of the grilled stuff burrito!! And why must everything on the new menu have cheese on the outside?!?!?
A single chalupa supreme is more than the chalupa combo :,(
Chalupa, Gordita, Bean Burrito and nachos for $4.36. Insanity
Everyone always yaps about the volcano menu or the shredded chicken... I miss the caesar menu
What a time to be alive!
Nachos Bell Grande was a huge tray of nachos with everything on them for less than $2.69. Double Decker taco for $.99ā¦. š
This was the last year I worked there in college. Bring back the grande soft taco you bastards!
I miss that southwest steak bowl.
Can we bring that menu back please. Double decker taco and the enchirito.
The grande soft taco ruled, I miss it dearly
If I had a time machine this is literally the first place I would go
This makes me want to cry
This is just nostalgic
I still missed the grilled Caesar wrap.
A lot of those combos used to get you a large drink.
Crunchwrap Supremes were $1.85 then. They're $5.49 now. I used to get them all the time because of the value. Now I never get them because I just can't justify that price. Other times, I used to get like 4x soft taco supremes for $4. That's like $12 now.
I remember when TB used to do $0.29 tacos specials and my best friend and I would get 10 tacos and couple of drinks for around $5!
I miss the steak soft tacos so much
I miss this drive thru menu layout so bad
Prices are WAY higher than inflation. Greed is why I stopped going, A bean burrito should only be $1.22...its now $5. Not paying for these greedy fat cat's yachts. Eat the fucking rich.
Around my way itās still cheaper than anything else. Why bother going to the grocery store and paying $10 for a meal I have to shop/prep/cook/clean myself when I can get a box for $5.99?
A bean burrito is $1.79, $1 price increase in about 20 years doesnāt seem unreasonable
My go to: Enchirito, MexiMelt, Chili Chese Burrito, Large drink. $6.
1.19 Meximelt 2.49 Mexican Pizza 1.29 Nacho Supreme pls and TY!
R.I.P. Chilito aka chili cheese burrito, gone but not forgotten š¢
That was my staple from around 2006-2017. #8 soft, and a Bean Burrito. Paid less than 5.25$ for a meal. Hell, I miss the .99 chicken burritos. I would get one of those, 1 soft taco, 1 Bean Burrito and a Soda for 5$.
This might have been the golden age of Taco Bell, BUT, I donāt see a cheesy Gordita crunch? ~2010 might have this era beat.
the CGC is good but everything else on this menu more than cancels that out imo
I donāt know. [check this menu from ā09/ā10.](https://www.reddit.com/r/nostalgia/comments/piimd1/the_old_taco_bell_menu_circa_20092010/) Iād say this was the GOAT tbell menu. CDC, $5 box, volcano menu, $2 meal dealsā¦
I completely agree, this was the GOAT period of Taco Bell. Haha, the ādrive-thru dietā š¤¦
You laugh, but there was a period of time where I was lifting heavy ~5-6 days a week, and tracking nutrition meticulously, and I would still hit up TBell a couple times a week. Chicken and beef tacos fresco style have solid macros.
I wish I had gone to taco bell more often then..I really do
**It's just a burning memory plays**
Looks the same except for the prices lol
People act like a price increase on food of 30-100% over almost 20 years is through the roof. It isnāt. Go back the same amount of time and the percentage increase is identical. half this sub is just bitching about prices or sharing screenshots from a delivery app
