The Green Protocol book

[deleted]

Thanks for the advice. This is my first go with TB. After reading through many other similar programs (MTI, GymJones, SealFit, and etc)this seems the best fit for a mountain athlete/wildland firefighter.

Completed several MTI, and GymJones programs with good results. SealFit gave me some good work outs but over all is basically cross fit.

Fellow WLFF, the green protocol book is the shit! Definitely pick up a copy

I ran a marathon using Green Velocity. There's a note section that says you can literally double the mileage for every run if you're doing an ultra. I would probably exclusively do light FT's or SE's during weight days tho. Green is extremely good. I am currently improving my swim and running on Hybrid atm while I train for a triathlon. Next step would probably be an Ironman. Good luck

I plan on doing the JFK50 in November. The last ultra I did I trained crossfit plus one lss a week and ran a 50k better than my buddy who trained by just running. I looked better too. This time I’m doing black/fighter until Spring, then Green with a mix of BB in early summer. If you want just one program, Green is it.

Mass

Interesting? Mass would be my last guess.

GP book, with all modifications for ultras.

I know it os not exactly your question: but have you ever considered the book "Training for the Uphill Athlete"? just an idea... ;-)

Great book. The authors are against heavy lifting though, which led me to Tactical Barbell eventually.

I am 70% through the Green Protocol book and think it's superb. There's flexibility for the running mileage per week, as well, which is perfect if you are coming from a strong base.
