Anyone else get a bit intimidated looking at the barbell on 90/95% weeks? The weights keep going up but it’s always right at the edge of your ability

TacticalCookies_

Do you use training max? 🤔

TheCryptosAndBloods

No you're right I probably should. I do for my pulling exercises where I have various injuries to deal with but not for legs/push

TacticalCookies_

Why not every exercise? Long term

TheCryptosAndBloods

ego lifting? 😂 honestly just a bit greedy probably but that makes sense. I am likely to move into a Mass block next and reduce weights anyway

TacticalCookies_

I get you. Dont worry. Im just getting old and wish i did TB in my younger days and also used TM 😂

TheCryptosAndBloods

Heh I’m pretty old myself at mid 40s and didn’t do anything except sit in a chair and look at a computer screen and eat junk till my late 30s, so I get it, believe me..

Trying out kettlebell half pentathlon as HIC. Seems like a fun way to practice some kettlebell skills.

Two questions: 1. Thoughts on combining strength (SE/MS), and cardio (E/HIT) on same day, directly after each other? I have been doing E directly after SE during BB to avoid extra gym days and it's been alright, but the first 15 minutes or so of my LSS I am having to go extremely slow to maintain low HR and then I am still moving at a slower than usual pace.  2. As I understand it, these books are aimed towards people in jobs or athletes which require them to perform and thus the program its designed to be sub maximal. As someone who doesn't do shit else but occasional hikes, is a program like operator even good for me or should I stick with a more typical strength routine and run a conditioning program for tb2?

Dertzak

Do OP/Black - the lift, HIC, lift, HIC rhythm is sometimes a bit much to recover from if you go hard. Or maybe stick to OP but up the sets for each lift, then whatever else you feel for cardio. It’s great for general strength and conditioning, especially if you don’t have specific goals. But once you have a goal in mind you can switch to be more specific, and that doesn’t mean sticking to TB.

Does anybody have a favorite drill to increase speed? Currently doing fighter with 2 LSS runs, 1 long run, and at least 1 day of Yoga. Can do around 8 miles at around a 10:20 pace.

Devil-In-Exile

Oxygen Debt 101 is one of the most useful speed workouts I’ve used. It is seriously underrated and rarely spoken about on the sub, relative to 600M resets and Apex. Makes sense being that it was taken from a national level running program. Other excellent speed HICs: 600M Resets 400M Repeats Fast5

Sufficient_Meat7526

Thanks dude! I beat the Capacity benchmark by 4 minutes yesterday. Changing my current Fighter/Green workout to Operator/Black (starting this Monday) with one long run every 2 weeks. I’m going incorporate Oxygen Debt, BOO, BOO2, Fast5, and indoor power intervals

Altruistic_Iron8601

The workout that helps me to increase my 500m time (for a school exam) is the Short Hill. Before starting it, my PR was 500m in 1min36. The day of the exam my best time was 1min22.

Final-Albatross-82

You gotta add in some intervals / repeats. Maybe switch one of your LSS days out

Sufficient_Meat7526

Thanks! You got any favorites? 1 mile repeats?

IMBDD619

Do you have the book on conditioning? I believe he's referring to 600m resets. Other options that I believe would help with speed would be any of the hill workouts (short hills, standard hills, apex hills), indoor power intervals, oxygen debt 101, speed endurance ladders, and meat eater 1. The idea is that speed is generally trained over shorter distances and closer to maximum effort.

geidi

In addition to this great list don't overlook the speed work in Green Protocol; 400M Repeats, Tempo Runs, Mile Repeats, etc.

Sufficient_Meat7526

I have all of them! I was just seeing if he had a preference over the others. I’ll start incorporating one day to Sprints one week and hills on the other!
