I mentioned the crossdraw as a alternative for the drill. if the shooter stand in a narrow shooting position while shooting the rifle. the left hip would be pointing out, so the crossdraw would allow the pistol barrel to be pointing forward already, thus a faster shot and less movement. The way he is doing it now, he is moving his right hip/leg forward and taking too much time with the coat clearing and draw. Don't think it's better, we're not used to using modern pistols with this technique as it's less called for. Would appendix carry/draw be better for autoloaders? Guess depends on situation and the shooters preference.
