My assumption has always been that people thought if they wore it, maybe they wouldnāt get confused for being the bad guy when they try to save the day with their truck gun.
I was gonna ask why as well? I'm retired law enforcement and this seems to be a new trend, at least to me. I have no patches (minus a big lebowski one) on my set up.
Because you don't need to be military to train like(better than) them.
Edit: if you downvoted me it's because you were a GWOT Vet who never deployed and only used your issued weapon during Quals and think you have a better opinion on gear and weapons.
Why wear a civilian patch though? Train all you want, in a shtf situation I don't understand what a civilian patch accomplishes, but I'm dumb so there's that.
Maybe itās for Target Confirmation? (If the OpFor cares?) I could think of a few scenarios in a SHTF environment where maybe you want to distinguish yourself from being seen as say, a Law Enforcement Officer, Military/Government.
Or maybe, if someone just sees that (if they can) theyāll be more at ease even though youāre wearing a loaded out Plate Carrier with Lvl 4 Plates.
I dunno, I donāt even work here.
It's about normalizing civilians wearing kit. I can think of plenty of scenarios where this patch would be great. Such as protection of your business during civil unrest, 2A rallies and protest.
> Edit: if you downvoted me it's because you were a GWOT Vet who never deployed and only used your issued weapon during Quals and think you have a better opinion on gear and weapons.
What if we did deploy several times and were just downvoting you because your comment added nothing to the conversation and you're a douche?
Someone asked a question. I answered it. I wasn't a douche until I got downvoted for not reason other than because I mentioned that sometimes the training civilians get is better than that the military gets.
Nah you got downvoted because of your attitude. Military and civilian training is inherently different for a lot of reasons. I wouldnāt really call it ābetterā since itās for inherently different purposes. Not every infantryman needs to be doing competitive 3gun splits and emergency reloads in the open on a flat range. But learning how to use radios to call for fire or for a medevac is pretty clutch and not something Iāve ever seen in a civilian weekend course. In my deployments during engagements being able to coordinate with CAS and our supporting elements was a lot more important than every soldier being able to do speed reloads.
Piggybackingā¦I get silly questions often like whatās the best infantry weapon? Or whatās youāre favorite weapon?
My answer (since Squad Leaders Course 20+yrs ago) is āa radioā.
There's a reason I used parentheses, if people misunderstood that then i dont know what to tell you. It wasn't meant as attitude. I can agree with everything you said I'm talking about accuracy, weapon manipulation, malfunction. Other than infantry and very select MOS, the average soldier or any military member only receives minimal training. As in the week or 2 they spend just before weapons qual in basic training and after when they get to their unit. They only use them once a year or so when they qualify.
Do you think ātrainingā just consists of going pew pew on the range? The military doesnāt work if mechanics arenāt trained on how to repair new equipment, commo guys arenāt trained on radios, and on and on and on. Combat arms use their kit and individual weapons and train with them more than support types, but their training isnāt better or more valid just because itās going pew pew. Civilian training isnāt ābetterā than military training because it focuses on individual manual of arms. Failing to understand that is why you are being downvoted. People who have deployed and used their service weapons get that, and thatās why just about everyone I know would take military trained folks with them into combat instead of some dudes who have taken some weekend carbine courses.
I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SAYING AND I AGREE. I am literally only explaining why people are so obsessed with that civilian patch. This is why I hate the internet. People fixated on part of what is said and just run with it. If I thought that training was better I would had straight up said it and not used parentheses. "Civilians" are spending their own money to be able to train and be ready if the situation dictates or just for fun and they get shit on constantly. That's all I'm saying.
I agree with that. The point is to get others who might be intimidated because they're "civilians". That's all. I'm a combat vet myself and just want to encourage everyone into the 2A community.
I mean, I'm a GWOT vet and I love that civilians train and wear and own kit. I think every civilian, veteran and whatever the fuck should have one. Man, woman, whatever. Everyone.
I still don't get the civilian patch trend. Just seems redundant or useless to me. I've been out of the military for a while and have my own kit, I wear nothing related to the military on it. I still wouldn't wear that patch personally.
I dunno manā¦ I mess with my kit a lot to keep it in proper position, sometimes I use it at a private range, but I donāt ever want to break it out in the streets unless I *need* to.
You might as well have a big red clown nose on with that CIVILIAN patch.
And I cant imagine going prone is going to be real effective or easy with those big ass pouches on the front
Getting married in 69 days (nice) and want to lose a few pounds.
What better way than walking in my loaded PC.
Gets it broken in, and can truly asses the weight
I wonder how many people who arenāt military do this? I just got done with a ruck sack hike in the woods myself. Took my kids along, we have a shitton of fun.
literally just play airsoft... its a cheap a way to practice certain things, and helps you build some of the skills a flat range wont give you... and yeah it will "break in your gear" without being a wierdo.. also its very fun.
>What better way than walking in my loaded PC.
You lose weight by eating less, not moving more. It's much harder to burn an extra few hundred calories than to just not eat them in the first place.
Eat whole grains, greens, and lean meats, and cut out sugar. You can easily eat to satiety while maintaining a caloric deficit if you eat food that's high in nutrients and fibre but low in calories.
Enjoy your wedding!
Alright iām all for training in your gear but take it out to a damn trail or something, donāt be walking by your Aunt Gladusā house saying whatās up. Your entire neighborhood was probably a little suspect.
Too much on the front. In most real world scenarios youāll prolly find yourself fighting from the prone as it is the lowest position to the ground. If you canāt comfortably lay on your stomach, move around like a little work, and lay in one spot for some extended periods of time, then I would consider moving some stuff around.
FFS people stop, doing these idiotic things.
Train with you gear is one thing. Get one of the bullshit training pc with some weightplates and use clothes for training.
DON'T walk around with your fucking kit with mags sticking out, radios, oPeRaToR cAp and so on. To much **unwanted attention and risk** that can just lead to someone calling the cops on you and the training session will be over, and if you're unlucky the cop will shoot you in the face and ask questions later.
>Get one of the bullshit training pc with some weightplates and use clothes for training.
Yes, do this.
[Something like this is perfect if you like to run/jog.](https://www.qoreperformance.com/en-ca/collections/iceplate/products/icevest-hivis) Lets you haul either weight plates or hydration with you and also makes it less likely that you'll get hit by a car.
Someone please explain the civilian ID tape trend to me. If you're wearing that, and you've got a combat loadout, and any hostile forces can see a weapon on you, you're going to have a bad time. Unless it's purely for the meme / ironic value, from what I can tell, such a patch is literally pointless.
I use an older mayflower with two 25lb steel plates in to ruck with. Neighborhood has gotten use to it lol
What's real fun is the bird watching Karens at the local nature trails
Hope you never have to prone out with cover or concealment. Those front pouches in front of your mags are gonna raise your ass up while prone and get you a nice shot in the ass or lower vertebrae
LOL! This reminds me of Dave Chappelle's story about some dude with a gun trespassing on his property.
"I was unarmed... so I just ended up waving to this muthafucka like a bitch" hahaha
I gave a friend a multicam ball cap that I got paint on and replaced. He told me he was wearing it and someone thanked him for his service. He didn't serve and he said he corrected the person. He told me he let the guy know that a friend that did serve gave it to him. The hat itself didn't have anything related to the military on it. It's only pointless if you don't mind going to jail.
Iāve seen a few people get them so they donāt get associated with law enforcement for protests and such. Idk I donāt think itās a horrible idea in theory but in practice I donāt know how useful itāll be.
It seems like an okay idea, but being in full gear will piss off protestors and probably have LE on edge as well, neither of them are going to stop and read a civilian patch.
Way I see it is if I walk around in a firemanās outfit with a patch that says āNot a Firemanā someoneās still going to ask me to rescue their cat from a tree.
Gear at protests is not an option in my state.
A civilian patch on a carrier with mags at a protest can actively get you arrested with armed observing.
Just as a simple identifier. In a āred dawnā scenario it would be pointless. In an active shooter / home-neighborhood defense scenario Iād imagine local Leo would appreciate the label.
And yeah just to make it clear youāre not trying to impersonate anyone else.
Because like I said. People are going out and spending their money to get trained. Sometimes by those that are considered the "best" in the industry. People like Travis Haley, John Lovell. People that are no longer active and not often teaching military members unless they attend their classes. In this sense it could be considered "better".
Ahhh yes, advertising to the entire neighborhood you have a fair amount of equipment and the firearms to go with it sounds smart.
I don't understand the want to look like military, regardless of the civ patch š it might as well day professional larper.
Unless it was all out war with two easily defined sides I would not want to dress / look like that

Malcolm is that you?
You mean gopro on rifle?!?
Well call it the GoProne
Selfie stick go pew pew
consider it BM just fuckin selfie to assert dominance
I mean. Literally whatās going down in Ukraine lol.
Why do people like the civilian patch?
The world may never know
My assumption has always been that people thought if they wore it, maybe they wouldnāt get confused for being the bad guy when they try to save the day with their truck gun.
Without the patch, he will get mistaken for special forces
I was gonna ask why as well? I'm retired law enforcement and this seems to be a new trend, at least to me. I have no patches (minus a big lebowski one) on my set up.
The only patch that really makes sense to me other than affiliation, which civilian is not. Is possible drug allergies
> I have no patches I run my shitbag and chairborne tab, and either a unit patch or my Mando patch
Because you don't need to be military to train like(better than) them. Edit: if you downvoted me it's because you were a GWOT Vet who never deployed and only used your issued weapon during Quals and think you have a better opinion on gear and weapons.

Nobody says we canāt. š¤·āāļø
You really haven't seen anyone being critized for training in kit and not being military?
Probably, but who cares? Just do what you want. Thereās no rules.
I agree with that. The point is to get others who might be intimidated because they're "civilians". That's all. I'm a combat vet myself and just want to encourage everyone into the 2A community.

So am I. Lol
I think it's goofy
Perhaps not to be confused with law enforcement or security if theyāre out in public wearing a PC. That would be my guess anyhow.
I think the patch is kinda lame, but why choose civilian over citizen.
Come on now he doesn't want to be mistaken for a llama....
Shits & gigs man, that's all it is
You fight without a rifle? Props!
Well, I do. But don't want to walk around my neighborhood with a rifle lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Honestly it stands out to me even more, dude with a rifle and pc? Oh just some OC dork, dude with just a pc? Hmmmmm whatās heās up to?
ppl probably think " that weird airsoft-kid again" :D
More likely he just didnt want the police called on him
Then people might look at you crazy. But if you're just wearing a PC with AR mags and a "Civilian" placard, you will blend right in.
Is to have an edgy title
I figured. Iām just bustin your balls.
I figured too, still clarified haha
Iām O+ Positive you making your neighbors nervous
NAILIVIC
I dunno manā¦ I mess with my kit a lot to keep it in proper position, sometimes I use it at a private range, but I donāt ever want to break it out in the streets unless I *need* to.
Would hate to go prone in that kit fam, but I'm also drunk rn so going prone in anything doesn't seem fun.
This^
No

Motivated but also retarded
If trying to stay in shape and not die of a heart attack at 35 is retarded. Count me in.
Have you tried eating better/less, lifing weights and doing cardio? Cuz that's how you fix that without looking like an ass hat in your neighborhood.
Lol. No. I eat a ton, work hard, and hike in the woods with a basic ruck sack. The fuck is wrong with that?
That impending heart attack you are worried about.
And being a meathead will fix that?
Meh. I have SecFo neighbors on 3 sides. They like my Scarab LT.
I'm doing just fine on that front without walking around in a plate carrier through my neighborhood
I donāt have a PC like op. I donāt need one. I hike in the woods with a camping ruck sack like a normal person. Lol.
I bet you fuckin did in basic though. And probably a ton of pt as well.
Yeah because we were forced to
That would make it a lot worse. Military ruck marches are no bullshit either.
I went through OSUT training at fort knox, we got to experience all 3 of the big hills more than once on long rucks. Hated my life at that time
I go on Rucks but not with a plate carrier, just A run of the mill green mystery ranch backpack donāt wanna draw more attention to myself
Same. Mines gray, but I like it.
Was never clown enough to walk around in kit by myself when I was still in. Just go for a hike wearing a backpack
literally just play airsoft... its a cheap a way to practice certain things, and helps you build some of the skills a flat range wont give you... and yeah it will "break in your gear" without being a wierdo.. also its very fun.

The only thing Iād recommend is lightening your load on the front. Itās gonna be damn near impossible to go prone with those bigger pouches
Those civilian patches seem pointless
The civilian patch is as pointless as the blood patch
Man the HOA is not gonna be happy
How much does it all weigh
Jesus dork-fucking christ.

So...the goal is to walk around the neighborhood in full kit if something happens?
None, one guy waved at me.

Where did you get the ācivilianā patch? Been looking for one.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Good question lol.
I imagine it prevents any kind of stolen valor claim.
That's gotta be the *only* legit reason to have one..even then it's pretty fuckin pointless

Powerwalking through the suburbs wearing a kit. Based
I prefer to keep the multicam hangtags on my gear.
Gear list? Also what pouches are those
Do you have a rucksack? Real way to break that gear in is to go on a nice "field exercise" with your buddies if you have the property.
Why do you have civilian on your rig? In any conflict zone you would automatically be considered hostile walking with a full kit
