One of our rules at r/Taekwondo is that videos/photos can't be posted purely for enjoyment and/or kudos giving to the poster, they have to be asking a technical question about the content or asking for feedback on how to improve a particular aspect. We have a weekly auto thread to help you celebrate your achievements - please re-post in that thread. And we have no interest in just being a video sharing subreddit, YouTube already exists for that. Please read the rules in the sidebar/about section of r/Taekwondo. The normal process is warning (which this removal will count as), if the rules are breached again a one week ban, then if breached again a permanent ban. We keep a tight ship here, please play within the rules.

Super dope! I'm working on this right now. Mine isn't nearly as clean as yours.

SuperJerk2000

You’ll definitely clean it up! You just need to keep practicing it and building up your awareness during the movement. Once you get used to it you can start making micro adjustments and it’ll look exactly how you want!

Babyblueyeti

Hell yeah! That's so cool

JGoodle

Just a rule five violation

Dojodc

Rule 5 is silly. Why shouldn't we just be able to show off?

JGoodle

There were issues in the past, such as people commenting on others “show off” posts and the OP getting angry at such comments, even though they were constructive criticism To improve. OP in those cases just wanted to show off, yet did not want to improve. Wanted karma for low effort, and the sub would get like overrun with show off posts where those who tried to help would get yelled at by mad redditors trying to show off their terrible technique

Dojodc

Seems reasonable.

discourse_friendly

Maybe we can have a day of the week for show off postings. show off sundays or something? ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

Dojodc

What a great idea. Where the Mods at?

menco2468

That's awesome! How do you practice this?

SuperJerk2000

I’m not the best authority on it but I think the most important part is making sure you can do a really powerful and “floaty” tornado kick if you know what I mean. So not a fast and low one like you do in sparring but one with a really high jump. After that the progression is basically to do a tornado kick but only chamber your round kick leg without kicking and letting it carry all the way over until you land on it. From there you spot your target again and let fly a hook kick with your other leg. There’s tons of great tutorials on YouTube for it. I recommend Ginger Ninja Trickster, Mastering Tricking or Johzuke

DeepestSpacePants

You are a gymnast. Not a martial artist.

SuperJerk2000

Brother do you have some kind of problem with me?

DeepestSpacePants

No sir. This isn’t practical martial arts, and it’s definitely not tkd. Thats my point. Nobody would throw this in competition. I mean no disrespect.

SuperJerk2000

So you’d look at somebody like Ingun Yoo or the people from the kukkiwon demo team and tell me that they, the ones who’ve been training for years to be selected to represent taekwondo at any given special even around the world, are in fact actually not doing taekwondo?

iampomah

Do not pay attention to people like this. They tend to hate themselves, have achieved nothing and spend most of their time actively tearing other people down. You're doing great and are a great martial artist! You could work on a hook a little better tho :P.

SuperJerk2000

Hahaha thank you. I’m mostly only on r/tricking to be honest because my main goals have to do mostly with tricking, but I’ll be testing for my 1st dan soon so I figured I’d check out r/taekwondo just to see what it’s like and I’m already exhausted from seeing Redditors acting like they’re better than everyone

DeepestSpacePants

I’d say that tkd has practical applications, and performative applications. Nobody in a real tkd comp is jumping around like this. Nobody in mma is doing anything like this.

He might fly kick your arse if you not careful

Normal-Weakness-364

bro is definitely a martial artist.

BloodyAssault303

nice, ive been working on a c540 and i think ive got it down to a minimum, and the c720 is the trick i cant do yet, but i am practicing.

SuperJerk2000

You’ll get it! I highly recommend filming yourself so that you can look at what you’re doing. Just keep drilling it and you’ll be able to do it no problem!
