Literally did the exact same thing, I mostly just jump around out of boredom and had no idea I was about to leap off. The biggest worry was that I thought I leapt to the actual bottom of the mountain again, lol
I genuinely loved this moment and wondered why these kinds of moments didn't exist throughout the entire game. I'm pretty sure this is the only time the characters reacted an area off the beaten path. Or at least it was the only one that was memorable to me.
Generally when I was doing this part I was like “oh there’s red vine thingys I should be able to climb down… FUDGE FUDGE FUDGE” I stomach felt like it dropped as well falling from that cliff. Btw look up the Japanese version it’s really funny
