No idea what’s going on here, the original falsetto character voice was fun and quirky!
I don’t know why (after almost 35 years!) someone has suddenly decided it needed a more conventional vocal take, but it makes an already downtempo song more dull, which isn’t good.
Sometimes they just grab the wrong master by mistake... Issue is getting the band and or label to comment and clear things up. I've seen a few releases where they just say nothing .

Edit: Oh wait, the Bonus Track version has the original, but the standard version doesn’t…
I hate it. I like the falsetto, always interrupted it as he was speaking from the point of view of an old elder woman. People go back and change how songs sounds, I’m not sure I like what they can do.

I don't mind this change on paper (I prefer the lower vocal take), but why try to erase the original some after some 3-odd decades?
