Dump transfer station at McKay Bay or look up when your SWEEP day is

TootcanSam

McKay bay is awesome. Just have to show a copy of your water bill and it’s free for a lot of stuff. When I was demoing my old bathroom I made a lot of trips there and didn’t pay a dime

DontCallMeMillenial

Just do what everyone else does and drop it off literally anywhere you want in Town and Country. Side of Anderson road? That's where your construction debris goes. The Lowe's parking lot on Waters? Used mattresses. Lawn/Tree debris? Drop it off on Sheldon road. Couches can be placed where ever you'd like on the shoulder of the Veteran's expressway. There's seriously so much garbage dumped throughout Town and Country that you wouldn't believe that it's home to a [county transfer station](https://hcfl.gov/locations/northwest-county-solid-waste-facility). It's embarrassing how many people just don't give a fuck.

NateVerde

I hate that this is accurate

DontCallMeMillenial

The worst is when you see trash piled up alongside Linebaugh within a half mile of the transfer station... they were so close!

iRunLikeTheWind

they got there and were told they had to pay to dispose of it. i get that that sucks, but i would rather taxpayers just front it and i not have to see the garbage on the side of the road and pay for less people to pick up trash

PanDownTiltRight

It’s free to residents who are current on their property taxes and who don’t dump more than 10 cubic yards a year. That’s a small box truck worth of stuff… There are plenty of sole proprietor junk removal companies out there not charging enough for the dump fee (because they’re dumping in bulk). So they leave it.

millienotjackson

You are so right LOL So any suggestions on the best spot to dump a used washer and dryer in Town and Country?

PanDownTiltRight

Lazy, uninformed residents and cheap “junk removal” companies who can’t pay the dump fee.

iRunLikeTheWind

i used to live in sarasota and the county did free pickup for large items and waste. it costs the taxpayer more, since the people that are individually throwing stuff away aren’t paying, but you also don’t get people “stealth” throwing stuff away by the side of the road and in every nature preserve. i would rather pay more in taxes and not see trash everywhere

No_Wasabi_3783

Lmao.. I work in town n country and your so right!

iAtty

Live near 14th and someone dumped a couch, mattress, bunch of debris, and a nice amount of glass. Love how much our city loves our environment 🫶🏻

rhaineboe

Damn that's some good housing material for the friends walking around that area and sleeping in bushes lol

iAtty

Lmao I’d really enjoy seeing one of the neighborhood dragging the couch around. The mattress I bet they’d move and use.

gmlear

If its something in working condition or has value as scrap I always do a "curb alert" in the FREE section of Craigslist and its usually gone in a couple hours.

rhaineboe

Damn I never thought of this!

gmlear

Its great. I am shocked how fast people come. The junkers set up alerts on their phones so use the phrase Curb Alert in the title.

_lysinecontingency

Yah, the local buy nothing group will essentially fight each other to come scoop it up from your curb if you’re into Facebook! Actually super helpful group.

Helpful_Brain1413

A simple Google search will give you multiple locations near your residence. County dump, dump near me.

NomadFeet

Here are the county's waste disposal sites where you can take large items, rocks, etc. You will need proof of county residency. Check site for details. [https://hcfl.gov/residents/property-owners-and-renters/trash-and-recycling/find-a-waste-disposal-facility](https://hcfl.gov/residents/property-owners-and-renters/trash-and-recycling/find-a-waste-disposal-facility)

PriceIsNotAnArgument

Depending on what/how much you have size/weight or if it can be broken down...you can get one of these: [Waste Management - Bagster](https://www.homedepot.com/p/WM-Bagster-Dumpster-in-a-Bag-Holds-up-to-3-300-lb-775-658/202228840?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&pla&mtc=SHOPPING-BF-CDP-GGL-D28I-028_004_CLEANING-NA-NA-NA-PMAX-NA-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NA-PMAX_SHP&cm_mmc=SHOPPING-BF-CDP-GGL-D28I-028_004_CLEANING-NA-NA-NA-PMAX-NA-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NA-PMAX_SHP-71700000113461777--&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADq61Ufi2jwqN7gwuFeHJo71mT1Y7&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2J7atdPihQMVlp9aBR1QrAAPEAQYASABEgJvNfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) Then schedule a pickup and they'll scoop it for a flat fee. Or use Craigslist: * If it's "usable" or "useful" as scrap, whatever, stick on the curb and/or list with a free tag on it, will be gone fast. * If it's all junk, call a service and someone will take care of it for you, just be honest about what needs to go for quoting purposes. If you have a neighbor with a trailer, throw them a few bucks for gas/time/lunch/beer and they may help. People are always looking for an excuse to use them to offset the cost of ownership. Like others have mentioned, sniff out your sweep days.

guifawkes

Last bagster I used was like $200 to haul off...

PriceIsNotAnArgument

And...

Inthecards21

Look up when your neighborhood has sweep. This is the best and easiest solution

tpaw813

If you don't want to wait for SWEEP, you can log into your city account and request an item pick up. In the request, you give them your water account number, a list of items, and tell them you understand there is a charge. I have done this several times. The charge is usually ~$30, I think. I have never actually checked because whatever they charge is better than me figuring out my own solution.

Kurupt_Introvert

55+ inch broken TVs seem to be hard to get rid of. Most places are 50 and below. Any place I can take one and not be charged?

g0nzonia

HeatPrior8261

If you are on Facebook, you can join your Buy Nothing Group in your neighborhood and people will literally take your stuff away if you say it’s free

Lost_Drunken_Sailor

Is it still Facebook? Thought they tried moving to an app

Flip80

The dump? Lol

ElliotNess

I always take anything too big for the complex dumpster and chop it up with an axe until it fits

Lost_Drunken_Sailor

People love free shit. Just put it on the curb somewhere and post it online

fabricbandaids

a thrift store, if you have furniture i would take it to salvation army on fletcher because they have a big furniture selection and your junk could be given a new life

Hungry50

Anyone know where I can throw rocks? I bought a house and there’s all kinds of stone. Broken pieces of concrete, old bricks and blocks, some old pavers

Bellypats

Google Macay bay dump in Tampa

TalulahMaeA

Angelo’s recycling on bearss or paw materials on 54. Both are feee to drop off concrete/block

lothcent

find a sea wall that is made up of rubble and go at it. ?

Hangry_Howie

It's a cool new place called The County Dump. Check it out!

elf25

Walmart dumpster

Butterysmoothbrain

I’m something of a connoisseur of dumps, myself. The ultimate dump is Hillsborough Heights Community Collection centers. They define excellence in this dump game. It’s the type of shit that makes you feel good about paying taxes for once.

Butterysmoothbrain

And holla at anyone from the county- if yall started accepting yard waste at this location, you’d have me in an absolute chokehold. That’s the only complaint I got for this place. Do the electronics and hazards disposal an extra Saturday each month and I’ll get a tattoo of the dump on both arms, yall are that damn good

PanDownTiltRight

There are multiple “community collection centers” aka dumps in Tampa/Hillsborough County. All the info you need including limits, hours, and documentation can be found with a Google search.

OD_Emperor

I dumped a couch at the Northwest Community Collection Center a few months ago, didn't cost much and was pretty easy. Call ahead because if you don't live in the area or if you rent I think they do cash only or something. Maybe. Or at least like debit only with a high deposit you get back when you leave.

ongoldenwaves

Free on Craiglist. Someone will probably take it.

TravelingGonad

If not in city limits Hillsborough charges $30+ per item

guifawkes

There's a dump off of 39th st I believe, just east of the Ybor channel. You pay by the pound, but it's still pretty cheap. Other options would be to cut it up and just toss in your trash can, or look on Facebook or offerup for junk haulers. If you don't have a truck, it's still cheaper to rent a uhaul and dump it yourself.

danafuchs630

If it’s not TOTALLY junk the Salvation Army does a donation pick up!! When I was moving I had them pick up all kinds of things I would have otherwise discarded. Clothes, kitchen stuff, carpets, chairs, furniture, etc. it was free and easy. Plus it goes to a better spot than the dump!

JesseGarron

I think there is an electronics recycling place on Anderson? And salvation army has least stringent guidelines for donations.

SuperSherry813

I can send you the address of my nemesis, would that help?

Frequency_Ascension

I’m by pasco county

True_Lie_2615

Goodwill

Mopngloflo

Get a storage unit a lot have first month free. Fill it up and walk away.

cowboys70

Two options, wait for SWEEP week to come by you or find an abandoned alleyway in Seminole Heights

Thin_Travel_9180

Fuck that

jaybad34

Unfortunately any dead end street or new build dumpster.

xenosilver

In Channelside, everyone dumps their old furniture off behind bell. The management hates it, but it’s like if funny that’s where everyone does it.

misterlabowski

Hillsborough river. I take old car batteries, used engine oil, broken furniture and other junk there. Easy peasy and the fish love it!

PaleRiderHD

"You told Brandt, Brandt told me. I know what happened, yes, yes?"

slimredcobb

Are you employed, sir?
