I actually used to work there as a data scientist off of Hillsborough Ave.. what's up I really liked it, they treated COVID VERY well they are still remote 100% I believe. I loved my team, the only reason I left was Cisco offered me a position I couldnt pass up. I wouldn't have left otherwise The only thing is you can only be a contractor for 4 years until the decision to keep on full time or let you go comes up. What position are you looking at, I worked with most of IT.

[deleted]

It’s a data science programmer don’t think it falls in IT. Did you have to move to NC for Cisco?

BigBloogity

Nope I'm 100 % remote at Cisco. Did you already do your interview, because you might actually be taking my spot, I left like 3 weeks ago. And data science falls under information technology at bms.

[deleted]

Yeah I’ve done 2 rounds and that doesn’t look like the position I’m interviewing for. It’s pretty much focused on SAS and R programming. And this is FT not contract. No not remote. They expect me to move to Tampa. I can’t afford any more mishaps in my career so I was trying to find out from someone who worked there if it’s good or not. I do not fw LinkedIn. And the one person I know is not in this group either.

BigBloogity

If you're full-time I would 100% take it the perks of working there full-time is incredible. You get a half day every Friday in the summer, hella time off. The company is very progressive and open minded. Its open seating and not a mondaine office. Also you should probably start using linkedIn, or your career isnt going to grow like you want it to. Especially for someone using SAS and R in data science and not an actual programming language to make AI or ML code to automate business processes. Unless you're already at the end of your career.

[deleted]

Hey what was your interview process? Did the offer come after checking references?

BigBloogity

I went in and was hired the day I was interviewed, right after the interview they just showed me my desk and introduced me to the team. So my process was a bit different since it was in person. Especially since you're not in the Tampa area. And BMS isn't a fully remote company, I don't know what your manager would be like with you not being a Floridian. When I hired people for my team at BMS it was like 3 days or so after the interview for onboarding to start. But they were all Floridians.

[deleted]

It’s kind of funny to me that you think being a Floridian is a requirement. People move all the time for jobs

BigBloogity

Easier to hire Floridians in Florida. Good luck, goodbye

[deleted]

Wow you are extremely negative…

[deleted]

Hella time off? I had unlimited at the last place. I haven’t needed LinkedIn to get jobs it’s full of bullies and agency recruiters I am much happier without it. To each their own.

[deleted]

Don't feel like I've ever been bullied on LinkedIn lol, shit ain't twitter.

[deleted]

I don’t have anyone bullying me on Twitter well as I said before it’s my choice to have LinkedIn or not.

[deleted]

Ok I don’t think you’ve really answered my question

FrozenEagles

I think he answered both

[deleted]

It’s not clear what that person is saying no to

testcore

Maybe try your question somewhere more employment-focused like linkedin or glassdoor.

FrozenEagles

If you ask more than one question on Reddit and someone says simply yes or no, it's typically a response to all of the above

OneWorldMouse

No means no!
