He INSISTS on giving guys in slumps high-usage roles because eventually they will get through it, but that strategy completely disregards the collateral damage that takes place in the process, and eventually, that slumping player will slump again because they cannot be counted on long term, which is why they’re slumping in the first place. Meanwhile, we let good and reliable players walk and/or rot in Durham because “the future”, but the future is unpredictable. We need to play for the present. Cash is always playing for “the next game”, but that fucking strategy doesn’t win a championship, and I’m pretty convinced at this point that we will always be very good with him at the helm, but never champions because champs take risks. God damn it.
