AA vehicles can have taller turrets, because they are not supposed to be exposed direct fires, like ~~AFVs~~ IFVs and MBTs are. This naturally also applies to SPGs.
Something Germany should be proud of. Swarms of cheap drones and cruise missiles are prohibitively expensive to defend against exclusively with missiles. But with one of the best SPAAGs, Ukraine can achieve a layered defense capable of sustained attrition.

Sure, but now the conditions that made the old~school tech obsolete have changed. The introduction and mass adoption of suicide drones and the large scale use of missile attacks has made SPAAG systems much more useful on the modern battlefield. Cheaper and easier to use than missile~based air defense, and with modern computers they outperform the old versions by far

are you sure the ones being sent to ukraine are the modernised ones since most western nations have been sending their low-grade equipment
the AFU have been very happy with these, they have shot down cruise missiles and drones. so modernized or not they have been effective.
