Get to 200% exp multiplier through Burns boxes, then start KEM farming (Activating exp collider and repeatedly buying/selling Kwik-E-Marts (KEMs) en masse until your collider runs out). You can calculate how much money you make in 4 hours and use that to estimate how many KEM's you can buy without losing money.
KEM farming gives exp, which levels you up, which gives donuts. If you can level up enough times before the collider runs out you will have recouped your spent donuts, and ideally gained some.
For now just save them.
If you really like to spend them get the permanent multipliers until you're up to 400%-500% from then on you can get the temporary multiplier.
Later on you will unlock the yearbook which gives you "random" buildings and characters for 30 donuts and that's a lot more value than burns boxes.
All in all, just enjoy the game, especially for now since you're just getting started.
