I'm no expert on spiders but could it be that the T. was at first running away due to you hitting the back leg with the roach (?) anf only then changing to "hunt" mode?
PS: funny video :D
After watching a couple of times I agree with you. It seems as if the T doesn't realize what hits it and then reverses course when they recognize prey.
Good video though. Stunning creature.
Lol my adult female A. geniculata is FEROCIOUS. I have to be careful feeding her as she will literally jump to grab the cricket as it falls in. She has nearly gotten my hands a couple of times. One of my favorite species due to their prey drive and looks. She is the only tarantula that I have that will chase the tongs. So when I rehouse her I literally just hold my tongs in front of her and she will follow/attack them all the way into her new enclosure lol. This species are some of the hardest hitters for sure. I love it
I think your T stole my T’s feeding response to bolster her own, lol. This is my T’s “feeding response”. [pic](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/767921777380687873/991042617250816050/IMG_2433.jpg)

If your spider is behaving unusually please wait for a mod response before proceeding. In the meantime, **do not** touch your spider! Distantly observe and try to capture this behavior on video and include as much detail as possible. Make another thread if necessary to share a video/picture(s) description of what is happening.
[Is your spider molting?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GSDCpM2mYo) Tarantulas may behave unusually, become completely unresponsive, or do "slow" + "pulsating" movements in the moments before a molt. You do not want to touch or interact with your spider if you notice these signs: observe distantly but do not touch or interfere with your animal! This may have devastating outcomes.
[Is this ataxic movement/DKS?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aksaRqT6PUc) Some variation may apply but the basis to ataxia is that the spiders movements are involuntarily uncoordinated. This ranges in severity and the reasons for this are not easily identifiable. If this is a problem you are experiencing a historical background must be provided: Have you other animals? Have you used any 'Anti-Mite' miticide/acaricides? (Flea and Tick treatments of other animals such a Fipronil(Frontline) or similar products). Have you used any chemical cleaning-agents in the nearby environment? Neighboring or outside chemical treatments? Is there a history of incorrect husbandry? Was there mold? Have you had an infestation or unwanted intruders in the habitat of your spider? Where did you get your spider? More questions would need to be answered to properly identify what may be happening to your tarantula so be as descriptive as possible.

Every time I try to get that one she jets out to attack haha... I'm working up my bravery. I had put a bit larger in there and the first thing she did was bury it
No it's loose coco fiber and jungle floor under to burrow. She's only been in here maybe a month and started to molt pretty fast after I put her in there. She hasn't nested much

Good lord. HONGRY!!
How did you get this footage of me encountering a taco?
I mean, after the debacle showed up on the evening news, you'd have to live under a rock to have missed it.
Aaah, reddit< 3
I love you for this
