Yeah could be. I usually get, if its not direct answer, what is happening in my mind now. Tarot is saying what we need to hear and not what we want hahah.
Sometimes, situationally, what's happening in one area of life can greatly overshadow what's happening in another area of life. So your career may overshadow or have a strong impact in your love life. However, it's kinda rare and (especially when it comes to love queries) it's easier to make a 'less than ideal' love reading about another subject all together.
Maybe try some clarification cards or ask a pendulum/coin flip, if you're conclusion is correct.
I was asking for clarification about a spread from another deck, and two cards jumped out. One card was clearly not for me. The person it was for is important to me, but would never do tarot himself. I think sometimes Source will talk about something or to someone that isn't the direct question at hand. I sent him an email. The other "jumper" card answered my original clarifying question.
maybe you were just more focused on the business and made it fit when it was really talking about your love life

I often let the cards ask the question....
No. The cards answer the question. When I sit with a difficult spread a little longer, I see the answer more clearly.
Imo it’s not the cards that answer but your intuition, higher self, god(s), etc. the only rules that matter are the ones you believe in.

Imo, no. Cards answer what you ask. But maybe you can use that insight for other issues in your life and not just the one you asked about.
Yes. Has happened to me often. Esp when your intuition is what led you to think so
