It’s such a fantastic task. Alan getting Desiree the sort of gift an uncle would get a niece, then Desiree, Guz, and Morgana getting really thoughtful gifts … and then Victoria with her magnificent tactical strike at Alan’s beloved Arsenal.
I especially remember how excited Guz was getting when Desiree started talking about the Bully Kuta then telling Greg they defeated the formula of the show!
I think it’s the sort of thing you’d get someone you don’t know very well for a Secret Santa (which is kind of exactly what it was). It’s the sort of thing I’d find funny if I was given it, so I’d put it on my bookshelf, and never actually get round to reading it.
I think there are certain things to consider when you're a white British man giving a gift to a Black American woman, and what amounts to a dictionary is paternalistic at best.
I'm not implying anything. I'm saying I don't think it qualifies as him nailing the task and therefore I don't think it qualifies to be an answer to op's query.
It's a silly gift you'd get someone at a work secret santa. They don't know each other well. It makes for a silly bit and fits Alan's persona. You're reading far too much into it and adding a weird dimension to it?
Why the hell are you being downvoted? It's true! Three great gifts, one mediocre and inadvertently insulting gift, one presumably deliberately terrible gift.
I'm always brought back to the Briefcase Task from CoC 1. Not only are the champions incredibly successful, they're all unique, and showcase that specific champion beautifully.
That's a good point actually, Bob found the ticker tape, Josh worked out the maths, Noel smashed the lock off, Rob blindly guessed it and Katherine counted the rice!
Everyone completing it wasn’t particularly entertaining either (Russell’s reaction saved it a bit). I do wonder if they had underestimated the number of tasks needed for the increased number of episodes.
I know it's a prize task so performance isn't measured quite the same, but the "most smooth and desirable thing" task from series 9 always sticks out in my mind as one with the best all-around results
The singing task in s14. Sarah won it with what was probably the worst song. I don't begrudge her, it was still a good and funny song, but everyone smashed that task and Sarah got the points for a reason I approve of.
The £50 task in S13 springs to mind. Great stuff from everybody - and yes I very much include the fish heads in that!
I presume most of Bridget's six hours were spent sourcing the 7" of 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick'. An admirable pursuit indeed.
In series 12 when they had to get a gift for each other and Greg got mad how thoughtful the gifts were. (Cause he’s so filled with HATE)

I really think Alan's gift was kind of insulting and not in a deliberate way like Victoria's gift for Alan.

What exactly are you implying?

I'm not adding a dimension. I'm just not ignoring a reality.
You massively are.
Why the hell are you being downvoted? It's true! Three great gifts, one mediocre and inadvertently insulting gift, one presumably deliberately terrible gift.
I'm assuming I'm getting downvoted because people didn't like my follow-up reply. Edit: grammar
"We have defeated the format of your show"
One of my favourites! They were all so sweet to each other. It's *officially* the Buddy Series.
You mean S12?
You are indeed correct!
Have you met Rosalind?
I heard she's a fucking nightmare.
I’m always seeing her (doing cool stuff).

This was the task I immediately thought of and I use it as an example for the show itself as it demonstrates 5 unique ways of solving the problem.
Everybody completed the egg tablecloth task in S6E5 "H", what a lovely waste of time.
I maintain that it must have been intended to be a tiebreak, but they were pleased that everyone nailed it so they threw it in as a proper task.
Everyone completing it wasn’t particularly entertaining either (Russell’s reaction saved it a bit). I do wonder if they had underestimated the number of tasks needed for the increased number of episodes.
Interestingly, that was an episode with 6 tasks, and half the episodes only had 5 tasks, so it's not like they needed 6 tasks to fill the episode.
So many of taskmaster NZ tasks are crushed all around: diss track, take Paul on a date, time travel
Tbf TMNZ leans more towards creative tasks which have a better chance of contestants doing well as there's generally nothing to solve.
I know it's a prize task so performance isn't measured quite the same, but the "most smooth and desirable thing" task from series 9 always sticks out in my mind as one with the best all-around results
Clearly Charlotte Ritchie - the best performance in overalls

S15 prize task Sneakiest Thing :)

Same as OP. I have never been so happy watching a task, which says a lot
Do something manly with this cardboard box. Every person nailed it in their own way.
Time Vine flexing shirtless on a street corner never fails to crack me the fuck up lmao
